Maybe we should rebrand to Reasonable Moderate Linkolanists.

So it seems like I am an environmentalist. Just not one that cares about global warming/climate change.

I care about the degradation of soil health and the loss of insects. I care about light pollution and plastic pollution. I care about the herbicides and insecticides that poison our plants, our soil, our water, and harm God’s creatures.

I want there to be less grass lawns. I want people to have more native grasses, taller grasses, flowers and mosses and clovers and a variety of plants in their yards. I want people to be mindful of their lighting, not pointing lights into the sky or up at buildings and trees. I want people to use softer lights, motion detection lights, times of the night when we turn the lights off. I dont want the sides of highways mown unless theyre a fire hazard. I dont want medians in roads to be boring grass when they could be flowering plants or tall grasses.

I want clothing made from plants and animal fur. I want packaging made from cardboard or paper or glass. I want people to use paper bags or reusable bags. I want people to stop wasting what they have.

Not because of a nebulous concept like climate change. But because I see the effects of pollution. I see the effects of sterilization. We can adapt to global warming and climate changes. Plastic pollution is harder to recover from. The decrease and near extinction of insects and animals due to sterilization is harder to recover from.

But I can’t say I’m an environmentalist because people immediately think of climate change.
