was reminded of that youtube channel that records footage of that bridge that scalps trucks today. one of the fascinating developments that's happened since i last heard about it is that, in one of their many attempts to stop the trucks from being can-opened, they installed a traffic light that detects when a vehicle that's over the allowed height is coming and turns red so the driver can stop and hopefully notice the signage all around that's screaming "YOUR VEHICLE IS OVERHEIGHT TURN AROUND" and avoid an accident. However as a result sometimes drivers see the light turning yellow and IMMEDIATELY start flooring it to avoid having to stop, ensuring that the roof of their truck just gets fucking annihilated instantly. The thing is, I am very pro child-rights, but I get the feeling that many leftists who are vocal about children's rights do not interact with many children. And honestly that is a good thing, you should be supportive of children even if you don't have very many in your life. But like...

Okay for example, there was that post about how adults make children share even though society is very anti-sharing, and that kind of sets them up for failure. And on the surface, that's a true statement. You can't really just raise children on contextless aphorisms and demand babies hold some kind of moral high ground.

But also, learning to share is a pretty major developmental milestone. For many children, it's not something that will just happen on its own. The flaw is with how many parents and teachers go about teaching.

Children are full people, but they are not little adults. They need help and guidance to figure out how to do shit.

The Golden Girls ~ Life Lessons

Dorothy has been feeling ill for a number of weeks, and is worried that there might be something seriously wrong with her health. But, after seeing numerous doctors and specialists, no one can give her an answer as to what the issue could be, and instead dismiss her concerns with claims that she’s simply depressed about being single or getting older. Dr. Budd, in particular, suggests that she ‘take a cruise’ or ‘change your hair colour’ to make herself feel better, as his own wife did. Dorothy begins to wonder if it’s all in her head, but the girls assure her that they know she’s sick because they know her. Finally, after her friend, Dr. Weston, recommends her to specialist Dr. Chang, Dorothy is diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Relieved and happy that she finally has a name for what’s wrong with her – and that she’s not ‘crazy’ like the doctors originally made her believe – she takes the girls out to a celebratory dinner and sees Dr. Budd in the restaurant, where she decides to confront him about his treatment of her.
