Looks like a way you may be able to help Ukrainian POWs tortured in russian prisons
In Rostov, Ukrainian defendants are systematically tortured. And it seems the court has finally paid attention to this (at least formally) Hello, this is editor Dmitry Tkachev, and today I think it’s necessary to act as a translator – let’s say, from procedural to human. Here's the headline of the news : "The court forwarded the lawyers' statement to the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office." Yawn-inducing, right? Let me translate. Nine Ukrainians are sitting in Rostov's SIZO-1, who were captured in occupied Kherson in the summer of 2022 and accused of preparing terrorist attacks. They are sitting in almost complete isolation: guards and FSIN officers unceremoniously interfere with their conversations with lawyers, and letters have stopped being delivered. But court hearings remain: there, the prisoners can, at their own risk, tell what is happening to them. On January 15, they did just that. Thanks to this, it became known that during each check, Ukrainians in the SIZO are forced to stand facing the wall, beaten with rubber truncheons, stun guns, and forced to sing the Russian anthem. This lasts about an hour and is repeated day after day. Four months passed (all this time the Kherson residents were in the complete power of the very people they complained about in court). And then on May 15, at the next hearing on the “nine” case, one of the defendants was brought in with a bloody head, and the other was not brought in at all — he was connected via video link from the pretrial detention center, he was breathing heavily and said that he “doesn’t feel well.” The one with the broken head explains: the guards made him climb the stairs from the basement “goose step,” that is, squatting — he lost consciousness and hit something. After this, the lawyers of all nine wrote a statement to the presiding judge asking him to protect their clients from constant violence and abuse, and the judge ordered that the statement be forwarded to the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office. It sounds terribly boring, "the judge ordered to hand over" - more like the rustling of papers in an office than a cry of despair. But that is exactly what it is, a cry of despair from the very depths of hell. Therefore, I urge you to read the news beyond the headline, even when it seems boring, to support Memorial's collection to help Ukrainians in Russian prisons, and, if possible, to support us, Mediazona. https://t.me/mediazzzona/21773
❗️ Urgent collection to help Ukrainians in Russian prisons
We have been helping Ukrainians thrown into Russian prisons for political reasons for a long time, and until now we have not asked society for help. But now we understand that we cannot cope without the participation of a large number of caring people.
We are opening a collection to pay for the work of lawyers and humanitarian aid for Ukrainian citizens who are in Russian pretrial detention centers and colonies. In order to minimize the risks for those who support the collection, we have decided to accept donations only in cryptocurrency or from non-Russian cards.
More details about who and what we are collecting money for are in the cards and on the website ( access without VPN ).
🔻 How to help?
💸 You can donate money from foreign cards and in cryptocurrencies on our website

Since non-russian cards are required, you could probably donate from outside russia (as well as in)

“In the years of the war, I have spoken to many survivors of the Russian captivity who told me how they and other captives were beaten, tortured with electric shocks, and raped. They told about having their nails torn out, their kneecaps shattered. They described how they had been deprived of food and sleep, and how the dying had no access to medical assistance. Freeing all the unlawfully detained and exchanging all the prisoners of war should be an absolute priority. The captives may not last long enough to see the end of the war.” -- Oleksandra Matviichuk, Ukrainian human rights lawyer leading the Center for Civil Liberties, the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize laureate

Kherson Mayor Igor Kolykhaev Seen in FSB Dungeon in Crimea This was reported by Anna Mamonova, a war crimes documentarian at the Laboratory of Public Interest Journalism: "I spoke with a man who spent 2.5 years in Simferopol in the FSB basement. It's a secret prison. The man recently returned to Ukraine. He says he saw Kolykhaev, the kidnapped mayor of Kherson. The mayor is holding up." According to Mamonova, the Russians created a secret prison in the FSB basement in 2022. There are no toilets or washbasins in the basement, which used to be a server room. "The interrogations are conducted by FSB officers from Russia, not Crimea. They rotate. There is a polygraph. There are beatings. I have no information about torture with electricity. Electricity is used in pretrial detention centers. If a person needs to be forced to give a false confession with electricity, then he is transferred from the basement to a pretrial detention center. There are three pretrial detention centers in Simferopol, and a fourth is being built. Before the full-scale invasion, there was one pretrial detention center on the peninsula," she added. Russian military kidnapped Kherson Mayor Igor Kolykhaev in June 2022.
