i assume the period of time she wrote “say don’t go” in (late 2013/early2014) was the start of her being like fuck this we can’t be friends and all cool and then her moving to new york and starting the reinventing everything about herself project solidified the whole thing cause they both used to live in LA and then the “now that we don’t talk” period started as she settled into nyc and this new mindset she had where she swore off all kinds of dating and everyone (also that’s when his hair was long) i have connected the dots 🤓

there really just is something about how taylor writes unrequited love specifically that never stops feeling so insanely validating. i think it's just that she is not afraid to put the embarrassing amounts of desperation you feel when someone doesn't love you into a song. it's how when you are in love with someone you tend to have these insane irrational feelings of doing something like putting yourself in danger to see if that will make them care, then you feel like that's crazy crazy to feel til you know taylor puts it into a song. and i've read people say taylor is bad to listen to in order to get over someone, but part of getting over someone is to let yourself feel your feelings and that's what taylor's music provides. idk i listened to say don't go and is it over now? so many times that i should be put into a medically induced coma.
