"Those Raven Guard are freakishly sneaky, I've only come across them a couple times but I always get the heebeegeebees when I watch a two ton 7 foot tall man disappear into the shadows." The word 'heebeegeebees' would be a new one for Akhen, it seemed Carolus was fond of throwing out random slang words from his home in place of describing something in actually intelligible words.
Carolus sat up and watched as the astartes, through warp fuckery, shrunk in size to a womanly form not much taller than himself. He could only blink and squint while puffing on his cigar as he watched the transformation happen. "How come I don't get the cool powers, I can walk through walls and turn invisible but you get to heal yourself and change your size like it's nothing." Carolus humorously grumbled to himself as he this time invited Akhen to cuddle up to him since it was now physically possible for it to happen. "But yes," he said after a sigh with a smile, "this is nice to be able to relax and just have a good time. It's times like these that feel almost too rare for us, you know?"
š (For Carolus to prank Akhen)
Carolus had been thinking of ways to lighten the mood on the void ship for days now. He had already pranked Myra, his close friend, by changing the language setting on every single piece of technology she owned. He had been discovered when she asked him what was going on with her electronics and he let a chortle escape his lips. Corovus was nearly impossible to prank and even then he was no fun when you managed to pull one on him.
An idea struck him like the ringing of a cathedral bell. He immediately went down to Krunch, one of the four sanctioned xenos on his team to procure some⦠materials. He knew at about this time his fellow Inquisitor, Akhen, would be in the shipās library at this hour so his plan would go uninterpreted.
Krunch had procured a hand full of of small, explosives rigged with almost microscopic strings that were essentially small fire crackers not powerful enough to harm, just startle. Channeling his psychic potential he passed through the door to his fellow Inquisitorās quarters without opening the door. A devilish smile played across his face as he knew that he was right about her being gone to the library.
Carolus made his way to the to bathroom of the Inquisitor and began implementing his plan. He began with the out rageous plethora of hair care products. āI take care of his hair but this a bit much.ā Carolus thought to himself as he picked a random bottle of shampoo and opened the top.
He secured an absolutely tiny wire to the inside of the lid to the bottle and dropped the fire cracker into the bottle. Using a very careful psychic pull he dragged the explosive down to roughly the center of the bottle for maximum yield. Krunch assured him the crackers would pop the containers they were in, and create an amazing mess.
Carolus repeated this process for every bottle in the room, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, even her tooth paste. The whole process took about 10 minutes before Carolus made a final inspection of the items in the room, making sure they were exactly placed as they were left when he arrived. He exited the room the same way he came, and waited in his quarters to see how long it would take the Inquisitor to discover the⦠surprise he had left her.

Carolus waited patiently as Myra and Rebeckah conversed, he did think it would be a good idea for Myra to get some implants for piloting the various crafts they come across when on missions.
Once the attention turned to him once again he steepled his fingers and spoke. "I'm looking for some kind of procedure to increase my muscle density or boost my reaction time without chopping off limbs and replacing them with metal." He started out with before continuing. "I've done a little bit of reading into our physiology and come up with the idea that maybe through some genetic treatments we could make me stronger while still working with my body as it is now. Granted, I'm no expert in the field, but it was a thought that I wanted to at least propose to you as a possible solution."

Samantha would notice a note taped to the door at eye level for a human. The note reads...
In my shop, Embarkation Deck bay 45T
If Samantha chooses to go delivered the papers to Myra in person she would have to go through the various obstacles that come with being on an Embarkation Deck, workers and servitors milling about their tasks, tech priests carrying equipment to and fro. Since the ship was not preparing to launch shuttles or other kinds of craft any time soon the deck was relatively quiet. That would be broken by the throaty roar of a prometheum powered vehicle was started up and the engine revved. Samantha would know this to be some form of bike, similar to ones that Astartes of the White Scars rode into battle. The machine screamed as whoever started it did not relent on the throttle.
Samantha would see a large congregation of tech priests all huddled around the apparent source of the noise, none of them moving or looking around. As she approached the throttle would but cut, allowing the bike to chatter idly. As Samantha approached she would see a dark skinned woman in dirty, greasy overalls laying casually on the bike while it chittered underneath her. The bike she reclined on looked like the astartes bikes, but scaled down to a human size.
"Impressive work Myra, our Magos will be most pleased at this turn of events and your personal triumph in healing and taming this machine spirit." She would hear one of the tech priests say before the others began dispersing.
Myra smiled widely and waved a hand "It was nothing, really. Tell the Magos to keep betting on me and he will be a rich man." She beamed as she revved the engine a couple more times.

Back on his home turf, what an amazing feeling. Seeing his parents and friends again was a blessing from the Emperor himself considering his line of work. One of his long time friends had become increasingly worried about Carolus' health, mentally. From the stories Carolus was able to share and just observing the man it was easy to tell he was falling on lonely times.
"How do I look?" Carolus asked as he stepped out of the speeder and turned to his friend who was piloting the craft. Carolus was wearing a button up shirt, a tee shirt underneath and his favorite jeans and sneakers. He hid the warp on his face by focusing his psychic powers to remain quiet for the time being so he didn't freak anyone out.
"Looking good! Now go have fun!" His friend shouted before punching the throttle and the speeder roared to life, launching it and his friend into the hive city traffic.
The inquisitor rolled his eyes as he took the piece of paper out of the pocket that held his rosette to read the name and name and looks of the woman he was meeting with tonight. Spero, red head, pale skin. Since red heads were somewhat of a rarity in the hive city it shouldn't be too hard to spot her.
Carolus entered the restaurant, it was one he was familiar with, certainly not one he would have picked for a date though. He scanned the room and spotted her nearly instantly with that red hair of hers. He made a show of looking at the paper and looking at some of the other people before approaching Spero herself and asking, "Hey, you're Spero, right?"
Send me ā?ā¤?ā for your Muse to be set up on a Blind Date with my Muse!
Hive cities had never been a favorite of hers but here she was. The job she was working was paying her well, writing histories about a few of the noble houses that called the world home. How long had she been working this job, a yearā¦two? Maybe that was why one of the noble Ladies of one of those said houses had done what she did. And why she was not waiting outside one of the nicer eateries the city had to offer. He was niceā¦funnyā¦charmingā¦or so she had been told. In truth, she had never met the man, but the one that had set her up on this date swore Spero would get along with him. A soft sigh left her lips and she looked down at a little bit of parchment. His name was there. A bit of what he looked like.Ā āI hope she was right.āĀ

The talk about Roboute and the Blood Angels was fascinating, though it was something Carolus wasn't all too interested in. Having dealt with the Adeptus Astartes from chapters such as the Dark Angels in the past he personally found it best to let those who are supposed to deal with them to do it rather than himself.
Carolus was a little surprised at the move Akhen made to cuddle up with him, but he did his best to allow it because of the size difference between the two Inquisitors. He ended up resting his head against her arm while watching the movie. The warp energy that covered his eye and side of head head wrapped around the mighty muscles of Akhen while Carolus leaned on her. There was no feeling with the warp wrapping around her appendage.
"Aw shucks, you're gonna make me blush." He said with a chuckle. The researchers had been struck down one by one, leaving the one member who neither of them would have thought to be left alive. A scholarly young man who seemed to be more of a researcher than anything else. He sat alone in a window that viewed the empty expanse of space outside the hulk as he contemplated what to do.

Carolus had been thinking of ways to lighten the mood on the void ship for days now. Carolus continued watching as he took a long drag from his cigar. The sound of thunder could be heard and a flash from the "window" simulated the sight of lightning in the dense city. The flash framed the young inquisitor in a silhouette that was only broken by the glow of the cigar and the swirling energy of the warp.
"I can't afford that bet friend." He softly chuckled as he watched exactly what Akhen predicted play out in front of him. "Plus, a betting man should never take a bet he knows he's gonna loose." At that he looked over at his friend and couldn't help but let a soft smile come across his face.
"You know, as often as I pester you and make myself a general nuisance to you, I am glad we can be friends as well as co-workers." It was a true statement. Most of the other Inquisitors he knew considered him to still be a kid, which realistically he was but it was no fun to be called a kid when you're well into your life.

"Uuuuuuuuh... No?" The ork looked up at Samantha with what Samantha could assume is it's eyebrow raised in an arch. He was clearly confused by sometime.
Corovus nodded as he looked at the still large pile of work for him and Krunch to do. "I personally did not know astartes felt stress. As the saying goes, "know no fear..." Correct?" He picked up the stack meant for Myra with the clawed hand and held it out to her. "Thank you for doing this errand for us, I look forward to speaking to you again in the future." The machine man said as he looked up at Samantha with that cold expressionless face.

Krunch nodded his big meaty head in response to the compliment. "Iz noice tuh meet a space muhreen who dudnt wanna kill me. The boys is named Snap, Krakle an Pop. Deyz in da hang out rite now." The green skin spoke as he looked back at the Regicide board, still clearly undecided on what move he needs to make.
"Many of these documents need corroboration by other members of the retinue." Came the voice of Corovus from over by the weapons. Samantha would see that Corovus had already divided up the papers into stacks. "This stack here is to be given to Myra." He said as he layed a metal claw on a medium sized pile of papers. "Her quarters are the first door on the right, if you'd be as kind as to bring these documents to her."

Carolus was surprised to hear that his friend had suffered through the siege of Baal in the Indomitus Crusade. It just highlighted the fact that for all the time they have spent together, Carolus didn't know a whole lot about Akhenaten's past.
"I'm not as brushed up on my nid information as I should be; but, don't those scouts usually look a bit bigger and more dangerous since they need to both make a brood and protect itself? I don't know what the name of that bioform is but I do remember there is a specialized bioform for exactly that." Carolus spoke the truth. It was so rare that he encountered xenos that he didn't know how to handle, meaning shoot it or stab it till it stops moving, that he had largely neglected the information packets that were passes from ordo to ordo. Though he did enjoy reading the Ordo Sinister packets since they almost read as comic books about gargantuan battles fought between metal monsters.
The next member of the crew was indeed the man Carolus picked. Dragged off into the shadows as he tried to crawl back to his friends. "Agh! I fuckin knew it!" He said after cutting the drag of his cigar short to speak.

Carolus took the hand of the small Magos and gave a gentle but firm squeeze. "Of course! I'd have to be dead or dying to miss an appointment like this." Carolus jested as he moved over to the table and picked a seat but waited for the women to sit before he did.
Myra's eyes went wide at the sudden shift of attention from Carolus to her before she stuck out her hand as well. "My name is Myra." The dark skinned woman pleasantly spoke. "I could use some ship interface implants, but I want to see how his work goes before I really consider getting it down." Though the statement was meant to deflect the attention back to Carolus, but it was also true that she could make good use of some implants.
"That and she just likes to follow me around and pester me about everything that comes to her mind." Carolus chuckled as he put a hand on the back of the chair he was standing behind.
"Oh! That's my favorite hobby." Myra said with a smirk. "Well, aside from tinkering with whatever I can get my hands on."

Corovus placed the large stack of papers on the bench with his weapons as he watched the exchange between astartes and ork. This was almost a once in a lifetime experience to see an astartes be polite to an ork, let alone not kill it on sight.
"Muh namez Krunch." The ork gave a wide mouthed and toothy smile that probably came off more unsettling than it was meant to be. "Iz got muh three boiz wit me down in da undabelly." Krunch said before Corovus reinjected himself into the conversation.
"The boys are off doing... whatever it is they do while in warp transit. We will get on the paperwork as soon as possible." The calm voice came from the machine.

Carolus nodded his head at Akhen's explination of the detail of the tryanid on screen. "Yeah, probably some retired guardsman who survived Leviathan." That explanation made a lot more sense than them somehow capturing a live tryanid and using it for practical effects.
"I'd bet the next person to get knocked off is going to be the big guy." He gestured to the large man who seemed to be the rock of calm of the group who had even managed to land a blow on the tyranid and seemed to injure it. "But you'd really think they'd try to at least not broadcast their location by shouting conversations they could have by talking or whispering."
Carolus then thought of something. It was almost unnatural to see a tyranid all on it's lonesome, they can usually be found in hundreds or thousands. "Where do you think the other nids are?"

Carolus only chuckled at her Akhen's laughter as he savored the taste of the cigar in his mouth and lungs. He rarely got to enjoy his cigars with others since Myra did not like the idea of smoking them, Corovus couldn't smoke with his lack of lungs, and Krunch had a terrible habit of burning through the cigar within a minute to just have the butt of it hang from his lip.
"Yeah, those things are nasty business. Maybe you should get on that." Carolus joked with a nudge of Akhen's arms with his elbow. Carolus continued to watch the movie as the second member of the team was killed, for the first time the tyranid getting it's own time on screen. It was a damn good recreation of an actual tyranid; this naturally, raised a flag in Carolus' mind as to how the director and crew got all the details down to near perfection. He would let Akhen comment on it if she would, but wanted to continue the movie before bringing the question to her.

Corovus looked down at the large stack of papers the apothecary was carrying with his expressionless face, though if she had to guess she could probably deduce that the ruststalker was not looking forward to all the paperwork.
"Dats a check." The ork from behind Corovus spoke as he moved one of his pieces on the game board.
"Did you check again, Krunch?" Corovus asked without looking as he took the hefty amount of papers from Samantha. She would see the ork lean over the board and study each piece before groaning in mild frustration.
"Zog et. Next turn I'll get et!" The ork said as he sat back in his chair.
"He's quite good at the game, surprisingly good. But it took me a while to teach him the rules." Corovus said quietly.
"Wus dat?" Krunch asked as he looked over and saw the space marine. "Oh!" He nearly fell out of his seat as he stood and flashed the aquilla over his chest. "Ello space muhreen, I got me papuhs ere ifs ya wanna see dem." He said as he pulled a couple of nearly folded documents.
Bring my muse medicine when they are sick (Samantha)
Carolus Rex was not normally one to get sick, but when he did get sick it was usually pretty serious. He was also the type to do his best to pretend he wasnāt sick, continuing to do his work or continuing on with his daily activities.
According to Samanthaās medicae records on his current illness she would know that it was a particularly nasty one, pneumonia along with a planetary ailment that seemed to all but sap the Inquisitorās strength.
Samantha would find Carolus in his quarters, listening to the simulated rain with his head buried in cases and reports with his cat slumbering on a tall stack of folders next to him. A couple of wet hacks came from the Inquisitor as he leaned back so he didnāt cough anything onto the papers he was pouring over. The fact that he was out of bed and doing work was against the rules the apothecary had given him.

"Carolus are you sure about this?" The concerned voice of Myra, Carolus' dear friend and pilot, rang in his ear as the two walked side by side through the forge to his appointment with Magos Radcliffe.
"Of course, quit worrying so much. I'm beginning to think you actually care about me." Carolus smirked at her as they passed by a group of skitarii and tech priests.
"For real Carolus, why this one in particular? Why not let Tiberius' staff do this?" Myra appeared to be uneasy about the unusual nature of this appointment and the seriousness of his request.
"You know Gabriel? My boss?" Carolus fielded the question as he came to a stop in front of a door with his hand on the handle as he just looked at Myra.
She crossed her arms and nodded.
"This is his wife." Carolus said with a smile before turning the handle and pushing open the door and stepping in. Magos Radcliffe would see a man dressed to kill with a fitted two piece suite of black and white and shades. The black jacket he wore had intricate inlays that only made their presence known when the light hit them just right. The glow from the eye that was subsumed in the warp pierced through the black shades he wore before he took them off and tucked them into a pocket inside the jacket. Along side him was a dark skinned woman who seemed to be trying to hide a look of surprise. She wore slightly baggy work overalls, Rebeckah would surely almost immediately peg her as a pilot who likes to work on her ship herself.
"Magos Radcliffe! It's been a while, how've you been?" Carolus beamed as he eyed the two armed skitarri before focusing his attention on the magos who sat behind a large meeting table.
Consultation
It was infrequent now that she was requested for a consultation on an individual matter, but the priestess found it somewhat refreshing. She strode through the spaceport to the appointed meeting place, a pair of Skitarii trailing in her wake. The forge shrine here was not a large one, but it stood adjoining one of the most renowned hospitals in the sector, both working in tandem to do the finest augmetic work thrones could buy.
She had come early, in part to let her bodyguards ensure nothing had changed since her last visit, and to reacquaint herself with her peers. Within the forge, she settled herself in one of the meeting rooms, and waited for the Inquisitor to arrive.
