"Alright, calm down. Don't get your panties in a knot." Serena rolled her eyes, annoyed and unamused with this conversation. Who did this punk think he was? After all, Serena did come here first. Like the saying goes, first come, first serve. "Yeaaaaah, fuck that. Sorry I don't sugar coat so your precious feelings won't be hurt but I was here first. And frankly, I'm not in the mood for company or some creepy, bitchy guy in a tree behind me."

Serena.

“Wow, aren’t you just a ray of sunshine.” The blonde rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. Her attempt at a smile fell on her face as the blonde sat back down on her ledge. “Find another place to drink, then. This area is taken.”

“The absolute sunniest.” He narrowed his eyes in a look of disbelief at her demands. Who the hell did she think she was? Murphy was done taking orders from people, especially nameless people who held no power over him. “Yeeeaahh, so here’s the deal: I don’t take orders from you, so get fucked and get over yourself because I’m not going anywhere. I was very happy to go straight to my tree and mind my own business, but you were the one who decided to get all shitty at me, so it’s your fault we’re talking in the first place.”

"Wow, aren't you just a ray of sunshine." The blonde rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. Her attempt at a smile fell on her face as the blonde sat back down on her ledge. "Find another place to drink, then. This area is taken."

Serena.

”Go fuck yourself.” Serena’s icy voice snapped back. She stayed in her defensive position - ready for a fight in case the stranger was foolish enough to attack. When neither moved, Serena sighed and put her knife away. Eyebrow raised and a smirk on her face, the blonde lifted her hands to show no harm. After all, she really didn’t feel like a fight. “Truce, then? Maybe over some of that moonshine you got stashed?” She attempted a friendly smile, though it proved to be a taxing effort.

“Already did this morning, thanks.” See now, Murphy was the type to start a fight with just about anyone these days. Sure, he wasn’t always smart about it, but it was a bad habit he’d picked over the years of being one of the Delinquents that he’d hadn’t bothered to try kick. But even so, being faced with this girl when all he wanted was to pass the day away on his own just pissed him off. “I’ll accept your truce, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to share my liquor. If you want some, you can go get your own.” He doesn’t return the attempt at a smile; some sort of joke or not, Murphy wasn’t stupid. Just because she’d put away her weapon didn’t mean he’d turn his back to her and expect not to have his throat cut.

"Nothing that concerns you." The blonde's icy stare remained cautious of the stranger, almost hostile. "Now, why don't you run along and forget you've seen anything, okay?"

“ Wait— what are you doing? ”

"Shit, that was tonight? Sorry, my mind has been a mess today."

“Interesting to see you here.”

“Is it? You literally told me to meet you here…”

”Go fuck yourself.” Serena’s icy voice snapped back. She stayed in her defensive position - ready for a fight in case the stranger was foolish enough to attack. When neither moved, Serena sighed and put her knife away. Eyebrow raised and a smirk on her face, the blonde lifted her hands to show no harm. After all, she really didn’t feel like a fight. “Truce, then? Maybe over some of that moonshine you got stashed?” She attempted a friendly smile, though it proved to be a taxing effort.

As Serena overlooked the creek, her fingers delicately traced the wooden heart which dangled from the simple chord around her neck. Nostalgia consumed her chilled heart - almost creating a flicker of warmth with every heart beat. Sparkling olive hues, tan sunkissed skin, and a smile that thawed an icy warrior’s defenses. Every detailed showed beneath her lids with every blink. This creek, this place…it was exactly where they’d wanted to be. With all the time she’d thought about it, Serena never imagined she’d be here alone.

The snap of a branch on the ground sent the blonde on high alert. Quickly, Serena tucked the necklace safely away under her shirt, moved to stand on her feet, and turned with narrowed eyes to where the sound originated from. Slightly crouched, Serena leaned down further to grab the knife tucked away in her pocket and remained in a defensive position. When no one appeared to her, the blonde’s icy voiced called out, “Come out come out, wherever you are.”

One of these days, Murphy was going to get himself killed if he didn’t pay more attention to his surroundings. That wasn’t to say he was always oblivious to what was around him, far from it, but sometimes… sometimes he had a bad habit of walking around on autopilot and not bothering to check whether he was alone or not. Survivalist he may be, but there was also an ingrained self destructive trait that seemed to be coming out stronger and stronger lately.

It was one of those days where he found himself sneaking out of the city, creeping through the forest in search of a tree to climb and hide in for a while. The city was too busy, too loud and he felt entirely useless, so where better to go than a tree to get drunk? Scouting for one that was the perfect height, he quickly found one and scaled his way up to a thick looking branch, a satisfied grin on his lips as he pulled out the snacks he’d stashed in his pocket before he paused. Seemed he wasn’t alone. He left the snacks in his pocket, climbing back down the tree and stepping into view of Serena with a huff, unimpressed stare focused on the girl as he did so. “I’m not playing some game of hide and seek with you, so fuck off. You’re not the only one out here trying to get some time out.” Spotting the knife in her hand, he groaned in frustration, fingers quickly untucking his own blade from it’s pocket. Great.
