Your cars purring headcanon is brilliant. I think that cars with more powerful engines are unable to purr and instead chuff. Some what similar to how small cats can purr, but not roar and big cats can roar but not purr.

Ahh thanks!! I’ve always loved the idea of making the cars more creature-like especially after seeing @bisexualmcqueen’s feral racers au (it’s an awesome idea and I love how much of a creature McQueen is, it’s great) I like to think it makes sense that cars would use their engines to purr/growl/rev as another way to express their feelings.

That’s adorable! Racecars chuffing whenever they’re happy and larger vehicles like semis could likely also chuff since they have powerful and larger engines. McQueen chuffing whenever he’s around Sally since he can’t purr, but is so happy to see her he does his own version of purring
