I’m compiling a little list of things for artists to look out for when accepting commissions bc I got another possible scam email today. Made this post on Blsky originally but posting it here as well because getting scammed sucks

1. They ask to use e-check or a payment system you don’t normally use always stay resolute in how you get paid. Anything that ties directly to your bank account should be a no-go.

2. Weird email formatting. Indentations in odd places, paragraph breaks in mid sentence, etc does it look like a human wrote it? If you’re unsure, copy and paste some of the email into google and see what you find.

3. They “saw your info on artstation”. Not a guaranteed scam but almost all scam emails I’ve gotten have mentioned artstation.

4. Wildly large budget. The one I got today stated a budget of $600. If the price seems too good to be true, it’s usually because it’s not. Unless someone is ordering a huge commission that matches that amount, in which case good for you lol.

5. Language they use when discussing commission. The one I have today keeps referring to wedding invitations as a “project” or “task”

6. Does not reference your pricing sheet at all. Sometimes ppl do forget to look in which case you can remind them. If they really seem to be avoiding it though, that’s a red flag.

Keep in mind it’s not always gonna be this obvious. ALWAYS set your boundaries with potential clients and don’t budge on how or when you get paid.

Made some splash art for my 2025 Vtuber model :D Of course I had to include the cats because for how often they interrupt they're streamers now too lol. I'm so proud of this one X3 I fought with it for so long but then everything just clicked into place and it came out great! Hope you guys like it!

The Egg 🥚: Chapter 3

Summary: There’s something in his room. It's the middle of the night so Marc isn’t really sure what it is exactly. He spots it in one lone corner, sitting in the darkest shadows, framed by his bookcase and an ancient-looking stone pillar, all busted up and leaning too far to the side to be safe. He doesn’t remember that being here… There are a lot of things in his room now that he doesn’t remember, like the pillar. Part of the far wall has turned to stone and one part of the floor just ends abruptly. There are a lot more broken toys than he remembers… [...] The thing tilts its head (heads?) towards him in curiosity, regarding him with its myriad eyes and the places where there should be eyes but there aren’t. It makes a kind of chuffing sound that’s mixed with the grind of something heavy being dragged across a stone surface. Maybe he looks just as weird to it as it does to him? He’s just got the two arms, two legs, and the one head, and it’s got… Well, it’s got. ______________________________________________________________ The boys have homework, and Marc gets to be the first to make an "offering".

"I didn't comment on a fic I liked because I don't think the author would care or remember my comment anyway". fanfic writer here, I still remember comments I got on my fics from seven years ago. I still think about them and they still make me smile. your kind comments are what motivates us and what helps us keep writing.

I personally know writers who take screenshot and print out comments they got from their readers.

TL;DR comments matter to us writers more than you think. if you like a fanfic, never be shy to let the author know ♡

Lol so I might have started watching/reading Moon Knight... Don't judge me, I'm doing my best! XD Summary: “Uh…” Marc trails off before he's even said anything and takes a beat or two to slosh his thoughts back together, “Khonshu.” It should be a question, at the very least prefaced with “I think this is,” but he can't make himself put those words there. This is Khonshu, it’s a fact. The sky is up there, the ground is down here, and Marc Spector is half-sane on the best of days. Immutable laws of the universe that you cannot change.

Khonshu turned into an egg, it's a problem. Marc is not equipped to deal with this. There are also shenanigans. He's not equipped to deal with those either.
