If you have been hesitant to apply, now is your chance. Our application numbers are not quite where I'd like them to be at this point, and we really need more enthusiastic drama fans to hop on board with this project. We very much want to see your application, regardless of whether you're passionate about two or twenty dramas. All fans are welcome!

(Please note the following from our FAQ, as we've had a couple applications this has been relevant to: Movies and animated shows are not accepted. Fanwork based specifically on novels that were adapted into Cdramas are also not accepted. This means that yes, for example, you can draw art of Wei Wuxian, but it needs to be the version of his character featured in The Untamed as opposed to the Mo Dao Zushi novel. This also applies to dramas based on donghua and comics. The drama version must be what is featured in your fanwork.)

Absolutely. Please use your discretion. If you have samples that are shorter but that you feel capture what you'd like to show us, there is no minimum length.

Immigrant Rights

Throughout U.S. history, immigrants have made critical contributions to American society and yet also been subjected to xenophobia, scapegoating, and a host of anti-immigrant policies. Since 2016, the Trump administration has launched an all-out assault against immigrants including the Muslim Ban, rescinding DACA, splitting refugee families, as well as pushing for a border wall and to eliminate family immigration.

These issues directly impact CAA’s core constituency with roughly half of Chinese Americans born outside of the United States, and an estimated 10,000 undocumented Chinese immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area.

At CAA, our efforts on immigrant rights include providing critical in-language immigration legal services, as Department of Justice Recognized and Accredited, to support community members through immigration legal questions. Additionally, we provide in-language community education presentations and workshops to ensure that community members have access to crucial immigration information. This direct work with community members informs our advocacy agenda that includes upholding sanctuary protections, non-citizen voting on school board elections, expanding health and legal resources for low-income immigrants, and working closely with Chinese language traditional and digital media to build narrative power that centers immigrants as people through the lens of migrant justice.

In addition, CAA is part of state and national coalitions that continue to push for fair and just immigration reform.

Chinese for Affirmative Action direct services prioritize the needs of low-income, limited-English proficient (LEP), and immigrant community members in San Francisco.

As ICE raids sweep through Southern California, grassroots groups become a lifeline for immigrants

Representatives from Chinese for Affirmative Action echoed the sense of fear among Chinese Americans. Staff pointed to increased anxiety tied to former President Donald Trump’s renewed calls for mass deportation during his campaign.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty right now,” said Sin Yen, Communications Director from Chinese for Affirmative Action. “Immigrants need to stay informed about policy changes.”

Yen’s connection to the work is personal. Her parents immigrated to the United States in the 1970s. Her father was undocumented, and her mother was a green card holder. At the time, gaining legal status was more accessible.

“Every time we represent, whether it be a Chinese migrant or an El Salvadoran immigrant, it’s an extension of my family,” she said. “They have a stake in what happens in their community, and they are equally important as everybody else.”

Shan Shui Conservation Center: In the Suojia Township Moqu Protected Area, we set up an infrared camera trap outside a den and were lucky enough to capture the daily life of a family of Pallas's cats—can you guess how many little of them there are?
