Boywatching on AO3 Klaine fandom from Glee
It started as a dare from a teacher when I was in college. “Flirt with life!” he said. Now I can’t stop flirting with strangers in my head. Not sure that’s what he meant.
Hi! I’m Kurt. I watch strangers—on subways, in cafés, walking their dogs—and make up entire lives for them. I secretly write it all down. An outlet for my “snarkiness” (not that my best friend told me I needed one). I do it for fun. For my sanity.
Shhhhh! It’s not creepy. It’s creative. I’m a playwright-slash-actor-slash-mildly-obsessed romantic, and this is my daily practice in imagining the lives of the boys (men!) I see around New York.
Maybe I’ll put them in a book someday. Maybe that’s the plan. Or perhaps it’s just easier than actually talking to anyone. At least that’s what my BFF keeps telling me. I can hear his words now: “When you’re afraid to fall in love again, sometimes it’s easier to just daydream about someone across the room than risk actually crossing it.”
Maybe he’s right. But if one of them ever looked back—really looked back—I think I’d stop watching. And start living.
