at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you

I feel like Gomez would be wholeheartedly welcoming of Tyler, and talk about his and Wednesday’s attempts to kill each other like a cute first date.
Morticia would front as being in step with Gomez, and would genuinely sympathize with Tyler, but would make occasional comments to him in private that makes it clear she’s got a wary eye on him, and that if he ever actually endangers Wednesday’s life in a significant way, then she’s ending him on the spot.
Fester would remember meeting him in season 1 and treat him largely the same way, not of much concern beyond being Wednesday’s little friend.
Pugsley would be endlessly curious and want to experiment/ask a bunch of questions all the time.
Wednesday would insist they all give Tyler as wide a berth as possible, nominally for their safety but mainly because she finds their behavior embarrassing.
Will Tyler meet the Addams Family in pt.2?
and if so, how will the interaction go?

So hey I have no clue where the whole Wednesday-Enid-bodyswap theory came from.
Can anyone explain it to me succinctly (or not succinctly, I could read a long take)?

Oh hell.
There’s zero chance the writers thought about it this hard but now I NEED the fanfic that’s Wednesday’s POV as she’s planning to confidently skip town on her own but then feels compelled to take this Normie Coffee Boy with her the instant she sees him.

New headcanon has entered the villa...
Because what do you mean that Wednesday Addams could always drive a car?
Because what do you mean that she could probably have just stolen someone's car keys and made her great escape to wherever the hell she wanted when she first arrived to Nevermore?
Because what do you mean that she was probably like "I'll just stop in for a quad in this coffeeshop and then get the hell out of dodge."
And then
And then Tyler Galpin happened and for some reason she suddenly needed HIM to call her a taxi and for HIM to give her a ride?
Like what do you mean from the second she met him she didn't want to leave this town without him in some capacity?
Like...

Aaaaah damn that hurts
Saw this post on twitter and now I can't help but think that every thing Tyler learned about dating must've came from Donovan. And now my hearts broken all over again. 😭💔

Girlie pops got called a Tyler fangirl—didn't deny it
Tyler called her out by saying she fell in love with his monstrous side—didn't deny it
Tyler said they're two black hearts ready to pillage the world together—didn't deny the two hearts AND the together part
Weems said she freed Tyler (we know it was uncle fester's fault)—didn't deny it
Enid said she's the reason Tyler's free—didn't deny it
Like you gotta tell us your pov girlll

I admire your enthusiasm, but I gotta warn you and anyone reading this against trying to play 4D chess with the people working on a show you like.
I’ve seen it go south or amount to nothing too many times: most writers and actors mean what they say, most of them aren’t trying to “play” you interviews, Occam’s Razor is the best way to approach most things.
God. I've gone fully down the damned rabbit hole.
What if...what if it's all a play? Like. Okay. What if all the hubbub about Jenna specifically saying she doesn't want romance for Wednesday is all a smoke screen? What if she's leading us intentionally away from the idea to spring it on us suddenly. Because. Why would you waste that delicious chemistry? Why wouldn't you take the ember and light it up to blaze into a pyre or something. It seems crazy to not utilize something that would easily bring so much intensity into the story.
Or maybe that was the play and maybe it still is. But I write myself. I've written original works (books) and fanfic and more than anything I've learned that the story that you set out to tell at the beginning may not be the same by the end because the characters grow in unexpected ways and you have to listen to them.
Now. I'm probably just a crazy shipper. But what if? Plus I don't agree that romance takes away from a story. I think it adds so many layers. Centering a show on a romance is not what this show is about but there's nothing to say that a romance holds anyone back. Not if you find the right partner who 1. Matches your freak and 2. Makes you a better version of yourself even if you were already the best version you can be. People unlock all sorts of things inside us. I don't think it should be the focus but the idea that romance is somehow diminishing to a female character is silly IMO. Not to discount other relationships at all because all of them are important to personal growth.
Thanks for reading my unhinged theorizing again.
BTW: I WAS RIGHT! HE IS GOING TO BE AT THE HOSPITAL! VINDICATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do so want it to be Tyler, but you what?
…I think she’s looking at her parents.
What do you think is making Wednesday cry and smile at the same time?

Tyler ≠ Agnes. Agency Matters.
People keep throwing Tyler and Agnes into the same box, and honestly? That comparison falls apart the second you look closer. The difference couldn’t be bigger:
Tyler: zero choice. Not physically, not mentally. The Hyde–Master bond stripped him of every ounce of autonomy.
Agnes: everything she did was her own free will. She acted because she wanted to, because she was obsessed.
And please don’t come at me with: “bUt ShE diDn’T AcTuaAllY wAnT eNiD aNd bRuNo tO dIe, sHe jUsT tRuStEd wEdNeSdAy.” That doesn’t change the fact that they were in actual, very real life danger. That “trust” didn’t make it any less deadly.
Why Tyler doesn’t belong in the same conversation
I already wrote a whole post about this (“The Hyde–Master Bond: Why Tyler Never Had a Choice”) where I go into the mechanics of the bond, how it hijacks body and mind alike, and why he had no agency. I won’t rewrite all of that here — but the bottom line is simple: Tyler was not Laurel’s “partner.” He was her victim.
That’s the fundamental difference: Agnes had freedom. Tyler was shackled. Full stop.
Why this matters for Wednesday as a story
This isn’t just nitpicking details about characters — it’s central to what Wednesday is doing thematically:
Moral complexity: Wednesday tends to see things in black and white. Villain = guilty. Victim = innocent. Tyler blows that up. He’s both at once — perpetrator and victim. That forces Wednesday (and us) into a much harder moral space.
Agency as the core question: The show asks us to pay attention to who actually had power and choice. Agnes did. Tyler didn’t. And that difference is the whole point.
Wednesday’s growth: Her arc isn’t just about hunting monsters; it’s about learning that justice isn’t always about punishing the one who “did the thing.” Sometimes it’s about seeing the power structures behind it — the coercion, the grooming, the exploitation.
And yet — the fandom reaction is the opposite
Here’s the part that blows my mind: the fandom (and even Wednesday herself, in a way) is so much harsher on Tyler than on Agnes.
Agnes gets accepted, sometimes even liked.
Tyler? Hated. Vilified. Written off as if he had chosen every single thing he did.
How does that make sense? Agnes was a free agent putting lives in danger for her obsession. Tyler was literally enslaved by a supernatural bond and manipulated into believing he wanted what his abuser wanted. Yet somehow he’s the one people can’t forgive? That’s not just unfair — it’s twisted.
Wednesday’s side of it
Now, with Wednesday herself it gets a little more complicated. She doesn’t “accept” Tyler the way she does Agnes, and that has everything to do with her feelings.
She doesn’t feel anything for Agnes. To her, Agnes is an amateur villain who tried, failed, and proved herself pathetic in the process. That’s easy for Wednesday to box away and dismiss.
But Tyler? Tyler is different. He got under her skin. She let him in. And that betrayal cut so deep because her feelings for him were real. That pain lingers, and it clouds her ability to separate Tyler from the Hyde, or from Laurel’s manipulation.
And ironically, the fact that she can’t dismiss him so easily — that she can’t just write him off like Agnes — is itself proof that her feelings were real and still are. If he hadn’t mattered to her, she wouldn’t still be carrying that wound.
In short:
Agnes = chose freely, still gets sympathy. Tyler = had no choice, gets nothing but hate.
Wednesday dismisses Agnes because she feels nothing for her. But she can’t dismiss Tyler, because her emotions did exist (and still do). And that contradiction — fandom loving Agnes while damning Tyler, Wednesday brushing off one and bleeding over the other — just shows how much bias and double standards shape the way we talk about these characters.
👉 And if you want the full deep dive into the Hyde–Master bond itself, go read my other post: “The Hyde–Master Bond: Why Tyler Never Had a Choice.” (Here’s the link: https://www.tumblr.com/ginnycampbellbower88/792493524697464832/the-hyde-master-bond-why-tyler-never-had-a-choice?source=share)
