"I-I'm perfectly alright!"

Satoko is quick to reassure Runa that she's fine, but the way she startles so easily at Runa's question makes it seem like the truth is rather the opposite. And by the looks of how she quickly drops her arms to her sides and sighs... it seems like Satoko has realized that, too. Honestly, can't she at least do a better job at acting, at least?

"I mean, I really am. I'm not upset or anything of the sort." Satoko clarifies her feelings as best she can, more honestly this time, and the smile she gives next is more of a crooked one. "I've just... been in an odd mood lately. Really, I can't figure out why myself."

Though perhaps it shouldn't be such a difficult question. The events of the last month, despite ending in a triumphant victory, put Satoko and all her friend's lives in danger, and it's honestly rather scary looking back on it. Anyone would be feeling off after experiencing something like that... but Satoko doesn't see why such a thing would still be bothering her now. Didn't everything work out in the end? In some ways, she's even glad things worked out how they did. So...

"I'll be joining Rika shortly, but I was just taking a moment to look over the village." And when she did, it felt like she was seeing it for the first time. It's always comforting to look out on the sight of her home from up high.

"I do apologize - I didn't mean to worry you!"

It felt like waking up from a very, very long dream. Maybe it was all the insane stress during the days leading up to the Cotton Drifting Festival that plagued her. It wasn’t until a few days had passed after everything had been resolved that she felt this weight finally lift off her shoulders.

Days with the friends she’s made here gone off just like they always had. Casual, light hearted conversations, delicious lunches shared, and competitive Club sessions filled her days. As if it wasn’t just a couple weeks ago that they were dealing with some sort of crazy conspiracy that threatened all of their lives.

It was weird, a part of her still felt.. protective of everyone, even though they should all be safe now. Maybe she was just paranoid…

On her way to her home, Runa decided to stop by the cliff side outlook by the Furude Shrine. Only to enjoy the view of this small town. But, she spotted the little blonde girl already there.

”Ah— Satoko-chan…,” Runa called out, getting her attention. Blue eyes blinked as the girl would turn to her, apparently snapping her out of her head. The older girl’s brows raised as she approached Satoko.

”No, not really. I was just coming up here for a minute or so, that’s all.” A small smile manages to find its way onto her face. “Normally you’d be at Rika’s by now right? What brings you here? You doin’ okay?”

It's not like Satoko is ungrateful for the life she's living.

She's surrounded by wonderful friends and creates fun memories every day. Rika, Keiichi and everyone else spend time with her and support her despite who she used to be, and while Satoshi isn't here, she knows that he'll wake up one day, too - as long as she keeps working hard. Even the villagers have become kinder as of late, something which Satoko could barely believe at first - but now, she can't wait until she can show her brother how different things are. That they can be happy, now.

So really, things are going well. And Satoko is happy. It's just... that makes it all the more frustrating when those other feelings start to slip in. Dissatisfaction gnaws at her, though she's unable to figure out what's causing it at all... it's like persistent background noise, and it's worsened by the guilt she feels for feeling that way at all. What's wrong with her? Why can't she just accept the happiness she's been given and be content with it?

Forcing a smile on her face, Satoko does her best to cover up her melancholy expression before it's noticed.

"Runa-san... ah, I must apologize. I've been rather scattered as of late! ...Did you need something?"
