what it means to orbit the sun

Evbo was the sun. Blinding, dangerous, and the source of change. When he set his mind, he was graced with his greens and yellows instead of the purples and pinks that adorned the sky.

If Evbo was the sun, then EMF was a planet within its orbit. Whenever they looked back, it felt like their life had only begun to start after meeting him. They always found it strange--Evbo was older than them, yes, but the both of them spent their decades apart with ease.

As their sun's planet, they bore the brunt of the solar flares, they were most directly nourished, they were . . .

A pet, almost. They didn't like that. They wanted to be--to be a friend, an equal to Evbo. But a planet could never be equal to a star. A planet could only hope to be near (but not too) enough to a star to reap the benefits that only a star can provide.

The sun was getting old. The planet wondered if they would survive the sun's inevitable death when it would arrive.
