100 Years of "Devdas"

100 years ago, on the 30th of June 1917 the novel by Bengali writer Saratchandra Chattopadhyay was published in book form.
Here’s an interesting article from Songs of Yore featuring the screen adaptations by K.L.Saigal, Bimal Roy and Sanjay Leela Bhansali:

After watching Madhuri Dixit as Chandramukhi, it is beyond impossible to imagine anyone else in the role. In Madhuri, Chandramukhi found the most perfect medium to tell her story and make the audience hear the song of her broken heart.
