Hello Chaos & Chop Suey community! It's been a looooong time since I've posted, and for that, I apologize. I've been trying to get my life organized and find my missing crojo. It has been months since I really picked up my hook and yarn (I tried here and there, but haven't really finished a project in months). I haven't had a crochet-block like this since I started crocheting back in the fall of 2015. But I think I found my crojo this past weekend and my creative juices are slowly starting to flow again. My 2019 crochet calendar still needs to be finalized, and I'll let you all know more information when I have it (I still owe you guys a Christmas Harry Potter CAL!) I have some ideas, but trying to figure out how to work those in with a full time job outside the home. Thanks for being patient with me this year--I'm trying to come back strong! I love looking back at my crochet journey. 2 years ago, one of my (then) 4 year-olds decided to "help mommy" with my WIP and cut off all my ends BEFORE I was able to weave them in. He was so proud of himself for helping me out. What a whirlwind this year has been! 2018 was a productive crafty year for myself. The two crochet-a-longs that I hosted this made my top nine--Mary Poppins and PacMan. My little red truck square for the @makersgiveback charity blanket made the cut as well. So did my new puppy, Brutus (as in Brutus the Buckeye). • I am so thankful for this crochet and maker community that I've been a part of now for 2 years. I've become friends with some of the greatest people and have worked with other fabulous makers. Who knew I'd be here when I learned to crochet 3 years ago?! As we head into WEEK #6 of the Chaos And Chop Suey Mary Poppins Mystery Crochet-a-long, we have some catching up to do! During WEEK #4, we actually had TWO panels that were released, but I only made one of them public. The second panel for WEEK #4 was a short, but wide panel where there were two options: 17 Cherry Tree Lane or a nod towards the song Chim Chim Cheree.

This week, WEEK #6, has several options as well…3 to be exact! You can choose from either a panel inspired by the song ‘Step in Time,’ Mary Poppins’ rum punch medicine and medicine bottle that magically changes flavors, or a panel with Mary Poppins’ carpet bag.

  I chose to make the carpet bag inspired panel. This panel includes a few of the things she pulled out from her magic carpet bag–a mirror, a plant, and a floor lamp:

Just look at the fringe on that lamp!

This week we move onto another favorite song, “Let’s Go Fly a Kite.” Mary Poppins looks on as the Banks family gather in song and leave their home to fly their kite that Mr. Banks has repaired. That repair job on the kite is symbolic of the relationship between father and children that Mary Poppins has helped to repair in her time as their nanny.

Welcome to our final week in the PacMan crochet-a-long! This week, we work on joining our panels together, making a border, and the best part–the appliques! Because what is a PacMan blanket without PacMan or the ghosts?!

These are no ordinary appliques–YOU CAN MOVE THEM AROUND LIKE YOU’RE PLAYING PACMAN!!! That’s right! All the appliques have buttons on the back so you can move them around your graphgan game maze. Surely you can permanently sew them all on, but what fun is that?!
