Honestly I'm a bit relieved that Larian doesn't plan on doing any DLCs for BG3. With the way they've been handling Gale (The change to the Sharess Caress scene makes it worse imo) and how they sometimes talk about him... I was a bit worried that they'd listen a bit too much to some parts of the fandom and include things about Gale that wouldn't make sense or possibly even ruin the character. I'm just relieved that they'll leave him alone lol.

RE: Gale’s Arcane Hunger

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about how Gale’s too incompetent to actually get artefacts for himself, instead relying on the player/Tav.

HOWEVER.

My take on the matter is this: he *is* fully capable of getting artefacts for himself. However, he’s now part of a team looking to save the world and as such has to be incredibly careful not only of what could be useful in the future, but of stealing that which belongs to other people.

His going to Tav (often the de facto leader) isn’t because he’s incapable. It’s because he’s asking permission, in a roundabout way. It’s less “get this for me” and more “what are you willing to part with?” or “what is of the least risk to all of us if I destroy it?”

That will be all.

small Gale headcanon no one's going to read or care about but me

the drow, dragonborn, and cleric of cyric who walked into the Yawning Portal are now three of Gale's bar friends and they have a standing Three-Dragon Ante game they play once a week.

I adore the idea of a Tav absolutely loving Gale's facial hair. Tav will be openly complimenting it saying they find it so attractive. Gale is beaming and basking in Tav's praise.

Tara overhears and is just like: GODS now I have to try and convince two people to shave that gods awful thing off his chin!

Headcanon where Gale is the famous professor in the academy for being one of the few professors who actually had a great perilous adventure but none of the students (and some staff too) believe it really happened.

Like they file it away as one of those things where he probably just saw it at the sidelines not really like thick in battle since he has the orb to worry about.

Until finally one day Gale holds a special series of seminars/demonstrations for in the field spellcasting for fights or crisis. He invited all the party members he could in these seminars

Suddenly a former shar worhipper, gith, vampire, devil, is that the blade of frontiers(?), the legendary jaheira and the hero of baldurs gate just are there to help the demo/seminar.

A nighttime demo for Astarion, A lesson on how to cast light spells and be alert for rogues. Not to mention how to maintain concentration when you get shot by an arrow, Gale will say as Astarion shoots an arrow at him. ( at some point an arrow does sink in Gale's shoulder and the whole class freezes but Gale just tuts disapprovingly while Astarion just acts innocently like he doesnt have a longbow in his hand)

Karlach makes a demo on how to distinguish devils and how to kill them. She and Gale also show how to deal with a raging barbarian in a fight as a wizard, Hint human shields i mean tanks companions are important.

Wyll is charming the socks of the audience and shows self-defense tactics when an enemy too close. Oh yes he used to be a warlock but his patron was a devil so he had to cut ties with her

Shadowheart talks about healing spells and being aware of the your companions healths. She especially emphasizes the importance of being able to self heal in emergencies especially for wizards while giving pointed looks at Gale while Gale awkwardly(or guiltily?) shuffles and clears his throat

Laezel talks about the battlefield positions and best placement of wizards in the field to help the strongest soldiers and she also shows which of the body parts they should aim their spells. (I like imagining Laezel having her baby strapped on her while doing her demo or using her baby to show which body parts)

And after a while the students realize with how Gale seamlessly shows or helps in the demos that omg maybe professor Dekarios did help save the baldurs gate

When the narrator said Mystra was known as a jealous Goddess I was like “really????” Because she didn't really do anything out of jealousy or say anything out of jealousy. I mean I guess the blowing up task can be seen as a way to get back at him for what he did. (As if DYING is the appropriate punishment for what he did lol.) But I didn't see it as a jealousy thing. I also wish that she would say something regardless if you were in a romantic relationship or not. Perhaps she would say something about his new life not really having her as a focus anymore. MAYBE she's even a little peeved that Gale hadn't given in so easily to her request, due to the new outlook he's come to have of himself.

not to be even more of a hater but i wish mystra had a cheeky line to gale about his love interest before he returns to them after the conversation about the crown

like i can imagine gale, lowkey terrified but somewhat relieved that he can return the crown to mystra and she just says some shit about the one he loves. nothing super aggro but just something that displays her jealousy and tries to undermine their relationship.

I will say I genuinely love how like playful and teasing so many of Gale's kisses are, like I genuinely love couples that can tease and banter and give each other shit, and Gale having a habit of pretending he doesn't get that the player wants a real kiss or pulling away is so cute, plus like I really love the vibe that he really does want to like feel desired and teasing the player to the point their yanking him in for a kiss just makes him feel wanted and loved and desired and ahhh

I like that I can just makeout with Gale in the House of Hope. Raphael has been killed and everyone's covered in devil's blood. My Tav and Gale are just standing over the portal and making out lmao.

I'm still kind of sort of upset over the lack of dialogue/reactions from anyone nearing the end of act 2 and pretty much the whole of act 3.

Like after the Gith ambush you on the road to Baldur's gate I feel like I'm shaking Gale to just talk to me about what happened as well or say something ANYTHING. LIKE YOU CAN ALSO TALK TO LAE'ZEL ABOUT IT IN FRONT OF ME PLEASE?!??!

No one really has anything to say when the Emperor can reveal that he was behind Stelmane's death and failing health. WYLL?!? HELLO???? It just doesn't make sense to me. Even if the Emperor had only revealed it to your Tav WHY wouldn't you then go over and just tell everyone in camp about it??? I wanted an option to at least tell Wyll about it since he looked up to Stelmane as a kid.

Also WHY can't I confide in anyone about the Emperor or just talk about it. I feel like Gale and Halsin would both offer some good advice on if I should trust this mindflayer or not. Gale's talk about Raphael in Act 1 was so good and I expected more conversations with him about who we should put our trust in as the game progresses. It would have been interesting to see his opinions on the Emperor after the mindflayer reveal.

Gale can also disprove of you agreeing to play along with Haarlep but the fact that he stays silent EVEN WHEN YOU'RE IN A ROMANCE WITH HIM??? He's not silent at all if you decide to cheat on him with Mizora.
