FORMER GEMINI MEMBER MUNEMORI MADOKA (FKA DOKI/ULLI) SIGNS CONTRACT WITH CHAPEL RECORDS, NETIZENS REACT.
while legion entertainment boy group GEMINI disbanded earlier in the summer, concern for lead vocalist munemori madoka had already began to mount months beforehand- after legion’s declaration that madoka would be held back from promoting with the group for the forseeable future after allegedly refusing to perform with GEMINI at fellow boy band 5OGUE’s anniversary concert. madoka was not seen online or in person since the news story broke in december 2018, not even breaking his social media absence to address the group’s disbandment.
to many fans surprise, madoka’s radio silence finally broke this evening, as reports hit the media that the singer had signed a record deal with chapel records. acting ceo shigeki koushiro confirmed the reports in an official statement moments later, saying ‘madoka is a talented singer and amazing dancer, with magnitudes of potential to make it as a soloist in both korea and japan. chapel are honoured to welcome him aboard, and excited to make art with him.”
madoka followed up with a statement shortly after, breaking his near-year-long silence. “i have so much respect for all the artists at chapel, i’m beyond thankful to cola and koushiro for taking a chance on me. i hope everyone can look upon my debut with kind eyes and listen to music written from my heart.”
NETIZEN COMMENTS
1. [+1,753, -18] his narcissism brought down an entire group ㅋㅋㅋ let's see if it can sink a record label too. 2. [+1,627, -13] He has a great voice! His Marvin's Room cover and his song with Seikai already fit Chapel's concept. I think he'll do well there! 3. [+1,510, -7] Cola's friendship with Penny must have ended today ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 4. [+134, -2] i don't think we were concerned about his disappearance... weren't we more concerned he'd come back? 5. [+133, -2] is cola just hanging around legion's exit doors with the contracts already drawn up? 6. [+124, -2] Chapel, please sign the other members too! Bring Gemini back together please 7. [+120, -0] that's an old photo... like four faces ago ㅋㅋ i wonder how much has he further altered his looks since his hiatus? 8. [+88, -2] Hurry up and settle comfortably into presenting japanese daytime tv, Madoka. That's the only gig you're gonna get. 9. [+85, -0] Madoka's taste in music takes a lot of influence from western retro music & even rock. I definitely think he'll bring a unique sound to the table! He has a unique point of view and Chapel provides a lot of freedom. 10. [+75, -14] chapel records hires based on controversy, not talent.

COLA | Bebé (feat. Ninebang)
only three days after his last single, cola once more takes fans by surprise with the drop of yet another track. this time finding inspiration in latin pop, ‘bebé’ tells the story of an old lover coming back into the life of someone who has moved on with somebody else. forbidden love is no new territory for cola, and neither is usage of the spanish language- earlier tracks such as ‘ira-ra-ra’ making use of cola’s fluency also. however- this time, the spanish verses are delivered by none other than sonhwa soloist and monster rookie ninebang. as well as opening for cola during the american stops of his tour last year, it has been noted by many fans that cola and ninebang seem to have become quick friends in the past sixth months.
after a fan made a joke that cola must be bored to be releasing music out of nowhere, cola stated that he felt like releasing songs he had recorded that didn’t seem to slot into any upcoming projects- hinting not only that ‘ubercoke’ and ‘bebé’ are the first of several singles to be released, but also that there was a bigger project in work.

COLA | UberCOKE
overseeing chapel’s success as a label, music had taken a backseat for cola during the latter half of 2018- but never fear, the sleepy starlet is kicking off 2019 with a brand new track! produced by none other than 5ogue’s very own penny, ‘ubercoke’ is an electro-funk track. the song is centred around it’s groovy instrumentation, with cola’s vocals acting as the cherry on top.
inviting a lover to ‘come ride’ with him, cola flirts ‘i wish you’d be as dirty as my car’, a return to his signature comedic, oversexed lyrical content. it’s certainly nothing knew for the singer, but it is refreshing all the same.

BATTLE ROYALE | Debut Mixtape
coming as a surprise to many; brat's lauren has joined forces with empire soloist taeha. calling their musical project battle royale; the pair's debut mixtape is full to the brim of hip-hop and r&b, each banging beat leaving the listener blown away. four featuring artists come to play on the track; humorously dubbed 'classmates'; with veteran soloist sunwoo and sonhwa trainee paris adding their individual colours to 'the leaders', while red light rapper collin and internet phenom seikai deliver genre-savvy verses on the more lowkey track '₩1,000,000.'
lauren and taeha play to their strengths as members of battle royale; as lauren's tongue twisting rap mixes with her soulful vocals, taeha's individualistic flair brings character to a tape that could otherwise blend into the background of the other hip-hop releases this year. however; battle royale make good on lauren's promise to 'murder the game.'

COLA | Sonic Adventure 2
heralding the beginning of promotions for his fourth full length album, cola proves once more that he takes no breaks as he drops the new single ‘sonic adventure 2′, mere weeks after successfully completing his world tour.
calling back to his early days, ‘sonic adventure 2′ is a sequel to ‘sonic adventure’, a fan-favourite track from his first mixtape ‘sext pixels.’ replacing the the latter’s sample-heavy beat with a bass-pounding construction and decorating the freestyle with a hook and more polished verses, cola continues the track’s predecessor’s boastful, humorous vibe whilst simultaneously poking fun at his younger self. on top of taking the first verse to mock his own lyrics, as the second verse roles around, cola quips ‘i gotta past, do we really need to bring it up? it isn’t bad but it is embarrassing enough.’- only to sample his infamous debut track ‘tbh tho,,,’ a few bars later.
as cola kicks off his new era, it’s hard to imagine where his sound might lead this time. seemingly pulling away from the 80s-meets-dreampop vibes from his last effort, ‘ICON’, ‘sonic adventure 2′ seems to be a callback to his roots.
cola’s fourth album- yet to be titled but being referred to per tradition by the initials c4, is slated for release on the star’s 21st birthday, september 25th.

COLA REPORTEDLY DONATES 75% OF SELL-OUT TOUR EARNINGS TO CHARITIES AIDING SEXUAL ASSAULT SURVIVORS
over the days following the closing show of his critically acclaimed 11 stop concert tour- ‘the twink peaks tour”, it has been reported that several charities dealing with supporting survivors of sexual assault have received hefty donations under singer/rapper cola’s legal name; cory osada. the 20 year old star has made a name for himself over the past five years with an incredibly active schedule, releasing music consistently and becoming famous for his unique style and ability to mix genres. despite not having an easy ride in the industry- an upward spike in success and popularity has been noted as his third album is speculated to soon hit triple platinum in sales.
with his first arena tour selling out across asia and even overseas, cola is reportedly appreciative but slightly uncomfortable with his newfound level of success, and has chosen to donate the majority (exactly 75%) of his profits from the show. while cola has politely declined to comment on the news, a representative of chapel records has spoken in his place;
“cola usually invests his own money into his musical projects, and that’s what he feels comfortable spending on. although his concert tickets were reasonably priced, the sheer volume of attendees was overwhelming to him and he decided he wanted to put the money his fans had given him to good use. due to the recent metoo movement in korea, and his own personal connections to the cause, this was something he very strongly wanted to support. although he was hoping it wouldn’t become a news item, he hopes his donations are enough to aid these charities in helping as many people as possible.”

COLA | Sunshine
while september 2016 saw cola’s first japanese effort ‘white hot room’, it came to a surprise when cola first mentioned in march that he’d be releasing a second collection of original japanese songs in the early summer. however, the modest reception of his first effort didn’t stop the sleepy starlet from giving his all; and ‘sunshine’ sees cola up to his usual well-produced, genre-meddling mischief.
notably, cola worked with an array of different producers for this record, branching out from his usual close-knit team. yet ironically, from the innuendo-filled fever dream of the title track ‘genie’ to the loving sweetness of ‘drink from me’ to the playful bravado of ‘sistine’, cola doesn’t set out to do anything he hasn’t done before here. but while the jumps from style to style aren’t as noticeable as in ‘white hot room,’ cola’s tried and true sound will surely be no disappointment to his fans.
from his space-themed visuals to the music video for ‘genie’ (seeing the star dance strangely around an abandoned bowling alley- and heathers can breath a sigh of relief, as the ‘nude scene’ cola alluded to on twitter makes the final cut as a set of bowling pins fall down one by one, leaving just the tenth standing to cover cola’s modesty), we’re taken on a hallucinogenic trip into the nightlife of cola’s musical universe- which begs the question of the seemingly random album name.
sunshine drops just in time for cola’s upcoming concert in osaka on june 8th, as he continues the twink peaks tour.

COLA COMPLETES FIRST SHOW OF THE TWINK PEAKS TOUR.
today, may 25th, saw the opening night of cola’s ‘twink peaks’ tour! following an announcement last month, cola has been keeping fans updated and entertained as he’s detailed the rehearsal process through his social media- and all that hard work has paid off in the form of a massive-scale production and a sell out first show, opened by none other than chapel records’ very own blair!
cola has always been praised for his live ability, but where the rapper-turned-pop idol fell short of theatrics and pyrotechnics in his past shows, he swaps in the stripped back club setting for arenas, costume changes and backing dancers; and it works ever in his favour.
while the performances themselves are choreographed and decorated to highlight the music, the vcr’s and other imagery continue on the much theorised-upon story of his second album f5abb5; cola sheds a little more insight upon his musical canon as he displays a world fascinated by the death of the ‘boy nymphet’, the alter ego who killed off in the aforementioned concept album. each vcr displays a different, non-graphic but implicitly gruesome death of the young star. but fear not; we’re saved from our mood being brought too low, as each death is infused with pink tinted gallows humour- we meet cola in the concert intro pushing a snack cart down a nose-diving plane to a sample of britney spears’ ‘toxic.’ and just as the whodunit theme makes slight sense of the tour’s title, the reverence and unapologetic nature with which cola performs both his smash hits and commercial misses in the face of constant unfair criticism makes it very clear what the four videos detailing dumb and dumber schemes to take him down are intended to represent.
between exploding onto the stage and kickstarting the show in a leather, powerpuff girls inspired get-up and turning the stage to a runway alongside blair in a cover of lady gaga’s ‘donatella’, cola does what he does best here; camp. even his back-to-back performances of ‘sunday morning’ and ‘boys don’t cry’- his two most emotionally raw songs- are suffixed by the star making a long show of having his dancers wheel a bright pink grand piano with led under lights onto the stage for him to sit down at and play only the opening few notes of his cover of britney spears’ ‘everytime.’ cola injects enough wink-wink, nudge-nudge into even his most vulnerable moments, cancelling out the risk of becoming a little too pretentious with the knowing ridiculousness of it all.
the audience was littered with fellow idols who came to show support for cola’s opening night, including: mjsa’s sunwoo and maestar, l:oveless’ sunnie and neo, sakhmet’s charlie, former lady member justine, mellow’s sophie, rylee and gyuri, soloist ninebang, espirit’s faust, senshi’s eui, soloist gishun, pandora’s rubi, marionette’s jenna, creep’s koemi, riot’s intak, and supermodel/designer hunter yeo.
cola will perform in seoul again tomorrow night, before setting off to tour asia in june and finally hitting the states for two dates before wrapping the tour in london in july! be quick though, the korean dates are sold out and the asian dates have limited tickets left!

COLA | Tina, Bring Me The Axe
the first of what seems to be many celebrations of cola’s upcoming fifth anniversary, ‘tina, bring me the axe’ is cola’s fifth mixtape, and one that may well be viewed as a hallmark in the career of the star. after finally achieving consistent chart success during the promotions of his third album and opening his own record label, chapel records, cola is all done ‘proving himself.’ he already (finally) earned his underground chops with his 2017 tape ‘public enema,’ and on ‘tina, bring me the axe’ he sharpens them.
with no featuring artists and generally more simplistic beats than is come to be expected of cola’s music, there’s nothing to distract from his skill, as he delivers witty punchlines mixed into animated flow. “as always, this mixtape is really just for people who are already fans.” cola states of the tape. “it’s so full of inside jokes and self-references, a general public may not know what the fuck i’m talking about.”
‘tina, bring me the axe’ is available for free download online. cola can be seen competing on the survival show ‘step it up’, airing later tonight.

BLAIR CONFIRMED TO HAVE SIGNED WITH CHAPEL.
although it had already been made pretty obvious with the label’s public interaction with the young socialite, it has been officially confirmed that BLAIR OH has indeed signed as a solo artist under chapel records; and will be making his musical debut swiftly under the imprint.
it was previously rumoured that blair would be working with chapel’s founder COLA in the near future. despite the to-be singer’s following online, there has been mixed reactions to his venture into music. however, chapel record has expressed enthusiasm and excitement to work with blair. “we believe he will bring a fresh perspective to the music scene, and are thrilled to be backing him in this venture,” spoke acting-ceo shigeki koushiro of the recently signed record deal.
no information has been leaked regarding the contents of blair’s contract.
