Day 3 of making whatever excites me the most!
I have several unfinished creative projects that I have put to the side for various reasons. Sometimes, they make it back on my bench, and sometimes, they get thrown out. I have been holding on to this one since 2022! I don't remember why I didn't finish it, but I am glad I didn't throw it out!
It is made from clear, single-use plastic taken from berry containers. The tubes and chain are silver. It is super lightweight, so I still need to bring it out on a windy day and see if it holds up to a gust of wind!

I made a deal with myself that for a month, I would prioritize making art-the fun kind, not for a specific project. I am using social media (mostly the idea that someone real, you, will see it) as accountability, so here I am checking in on day two of making art!
To be honest, I'm not sure what this is or even if it could become something. The internal structure is a clear plastic bag braided using a kumihimo disk. The blue and purple petals are made from the scraps I saved from the plastic folders earrings I make. I started with the longer pieces and made them smaller as I neared the end of the braid.
It did what I had hoped! It sparked a new idea. I'm putting it up on my freshly cleaned project board for now. Should I make it into a strange little pendant?
Do you see something it could be? I'm also okay with it just being a material learning sample too.

Day one of getting back to my bench!
The idea for this ring has been floating around in my brain for at least a month now. I'm happy to bring it into reality and now that I have I can think of a few new ideas/iterations to try. One idea is to make it again but use a clearish white film plastic instead of this brown and a little bit of something opaque and darker near where the finger slips in.
This ring is 100% fused plastic grocery bags, maybe 6 of them.

The produce bags I use to fuse have a green logo which swirls and shrink and becomes nearly unreadable as I fuse it together. They started to remind me of one of my favorite stones, moss agate. This cuff is made entirely of fused produce bags.

I love the idea of floating topographies. This ring is made from fused produce bags, reused from my own collection, and silver for the ring band. It was made to look like a little city.
