Rise
Trying to live
by lessons learned,
lessons God patiently taught me
with quiet truth
with gentle words
with love in His aim
He sought me...
lessons that soothed
my restless heart
calmed my quivering
spirit in part.
God's shaping of me
is planted innate.
His guidance should leave me
completely sedate,
but I seem to never
be fully effaced.
His affect does so lovingly
seek to create
a spate of compassion
I must navigate,
but impulse exceeds
the calm that should lead,
allows chaos to breathe
on my needs.
God's lessons do beg
Him to balance and check
the goals He holds up
in every subject.
He proof-reads,
I learn.
I discipline earn,
He's steadfast 'til I am agreed.
He's loving
He's firm
My good are His terms.
His best is His goal
set for me.
As God appeases
my chaos,
it eases.
He finds me
unbinds me
says that He loves me
despite sin
He loves me
has grace to forgive me
when hiding is
my present deed.
I need to keep open
those depths of emotion
like leagues in the ocean...
a Pandora's box guaranteed.
His patient devotion
like harmonic motion
balances passionate need.
God patiently teaches me
notably seeks me
plotting my course as I roam.
The source of Him anchors.
His peace fully blankets
with safety
with shelter
with home.
He gifts me with grace.
His foundation and frame
both fill me with strength...
never shame.
He never has left me,
has never bereft me,
His spirit in me sets me free.
God's invested in me.
He planted a seed
filled with His plan guaranteed.
It died in my darkness
yet reaching
towards light.
Though it is starless
it's clear in my sight
that growing means dying
while healing and hiding,
waiting to see
the spring growing anew
feeling the green
losing the blue
leaving the dark
taking a cue
from light up above
as I construe
the promise and words of
my Gardener who proves
that patiently caring
pruning
