Astrological correspondences in the suit of Pentacles;

The suit of Pentacles describes a journey based on human interactions with the more practical and physical aspects of being alive on Earth. Much like earthy planets and signs, the suit of Pentacles draws attention to aspects of life that are highly influenced by the senses, thus describing a more grounded relationship with tangible reality. This is a story about hard work, ambitions, property and privilege.

i. Ace of Pentacles: Earth.

            The Ace of Pentacles symbolises the opportunity to start a new earthy journey. The way is fertile ahead of you, ready to flourish into a beautiful garden if you put the right amount of work and dedication into it. Nevertheless, some kind of fertility or opportunity for abundance is being offered to you. There are prospects of success and wealth, be it internal and:or external.

ii. Two of Pentacles: Jupiter in Capricorn.

            For a tarot card that is so very much related to equilibrium and multitasking, it’s interesting to note that it vibrates with Capricorn Jupiter’s energies. Isolated, Jupiter and Capricorn vibrate in very different ways. Jupiter blesses, expands and enchants with luck. Capricorn, on the other hand, contracts, works hard and is generally not fond of excesses. This is a card that brings opposites together, in a way, drawing attention to the need of finding balance and dealing with dualities and impasses with wisdom and elegance. Accept change, and develop the maturity to deal with it as you go, for change is eternal. Keep going and doing your best as the you encounter new challenges. Be open to be transformed through your experiences. This kind of mindset will set you up for a more successful and richer life than you had anticipated.

iii. Three of Pentacles: Mars in Capricorn.

            This is a card of that generally symbolises rewards for a work well done, which is what tends to happen when Mars’s drive is skillfully paired with Capricorn’s discipline and strategy. The result of such a combination is an unstoppable energy which pushes for nothing less than success and recognition. There is courage and energy enough to triumph over a great deal of hardships, but it is important to remember that this bravery must be put to use in clever, thoughtful ways. Focus. Organise yourself to draw all of your efforts to a single target or objective. People will soon notice (or have noticed already) how valuable, clever and hardworking you can be, so be ready to receive praise for all the dedication you have shown!

iv. Four of Pentacles: Sun in Capricorn.

Whenever i think of this card, which bears the number four, it always comes to mind that some kind of rigid pattern has been formed and that it won’t dissolve easily. Both the card and the astrological placement transmit a sense that a variety of factors have come into place in order to form a gigantic and inflexible architecture. There is strength, solidity and dependability in the individual or matter at hand. But this is also an energy that can be unwilling to change and exchange information and wealth with its environment. Somehow material affairs have become a matter of utmost importance to this individual, and they have forgotten how it feels to let go of their possessions in order to reconnect with the more subtle world around them, a world of interaction and constant transformation.

v. Five of Pentacles: Mercury in Taurus.

            An interesting placement to be matched with this card, Mercury in Taurus introduces change and doubt in a world which is accustomed to certainty, bounty and stability. In the Five of Pentacles cards, then, we are able to see this specific moment in this story, when everything we had has been taken away from us by a sweeping, unexpected current of Air. The tide has changed, and now we are faced with adversity, poverty and fears. But we must aware that the tide will soon change once more. Many times, this card indicates the ending of a period characterized by pessimism and hardship. Spring is coming to melt the ice away, so be available to interact with other people or institutions or even heavenly forces that may help you on your journey, as long as you are willing to interact. What was lost can be found again.

vi. Six of Pentacles: Moon in Taurus.

            The Moon in Taurus feels remarkably great, no wonder this is the astrological placement assigned to a card that speaks of Material Success. In Taurus, the Moon feels secure and comfortable. She is surrounded only by the sweetest of things in the universe. This creates a heavenly environment in which the Moon can express her emotional complexity and need for beauty and equality on a variety of levels. The Six of Pentacles card interpretations often indicate that the Seeker could either be in a position to be charitable and help others or be in a position to receive help from external sources. The Moon in Taurus mindset is one that fits perfectly in both of these positions. Accept success and comfort as it comes to you, because you are deserving of them either way, but also try to find peace within yourself. If you fail to forgive and respect the current situation you’re in, it is less likely you will give and receive the help you are dreaming of.

vii. Seven of Pentacles: Saturn in Taurus.

            When Saturn is in Taurus, his teachings revolve around the value of hard work and productivity, which is very much the general interpretation surrounding this card. With this energy, there is a general sense of discontentment towards one’s performance and status. The lesson is to recognise, through frustration, what failures were your responsibility, and what failures were due to the simple way in which reality operates. This will allow a more realistic perspective on the universe and how you can work towards changing what you cannot accept, but also accepting what you cannot change. The final result is an individual that values their work and themselves in more tangible, more just ways.

viii. Eight of Pentacles: Sun in Virgo.

            This is the card of the “perfectionist”, so it is not quite surprising that it is paired with the Sun in Virgo, which grants people an extreme attention to details and a striking care for excellence. This is often a card that is drawn to hardworking, studious individuals who pay a lot of attention to how they work and performance can be improved in a variety of levels. More importantly, however, the Sun in Virgo advises that material and technical improvement must be paralleled with a refinement of one’s character and spirit, as if he were saying that material wealth is best obtained when paired with internal richness. Work towards balance, wisdom, peace and prudence. Be moderate in your decisions and actions.

ix. Nine of Pentacles: Venus in Virgo.

            There is both material and internal prosperity. The individual with this energy is one that expresses their love because it is the right thing to do. They have grown to respect themselves and the world around them, enough to be able to both give and receive the love they know themselves worthy of. Because of this, there is a certain sense of independence in this card. When we learn to perform our duties out of love, it is unlikely we feel the need of someone else’s presence in order to enjoy life’s aspects and gifts. In a way, the individual acting upon this kind of energy has acquired a more holistic understanding of the universe and of life in general.

x. Ten of Pentacles: Mercury in Virgo;

            Mercury in Virgo is the end of the Pentacles’s cycle. What was lost was found. Prosperity was attained, and wealth developed. In the Ten of Pentacles, we see this wealth bein expressed outwardly. There is stability, a sense of incredible completion; even if this is a material cycle, we feel spiritually fulfilled, and this is because the end of this journey is to find both material and internal wealth in ourselves. We have a discovered a new, brilliant and delightful way to live the life that was presented to us, and because we did all we could based on love and dedication, we have attracted great things and people to ourselves. Put perhaps the most precious of emotions is the one of feeling infinite.

The Page of Pentacles is elegant and refined. They’re classy, yes, put nevertheless quite practical and attentive to details. The Page of Pentacles, then, may represent an individual that is quite sensual or connected to the physical realm by how they enjoy their possessions in a very personal, sensual manner. There is great aesthetic sense, as well as a careful eye to harmonious forms. Still, there is a lot of focus on improving the world through making things and projects as effective as they can be. This is the earthy aspect of the earth as an element.    

— Knight of Pentacles: Air + Earth.

            The combination of air and earth is when strategy and prudence meets ambition and action. The result is a steady individual that is quite rational and straightforward. There is a general sense with this card involving the naivety of this individual, for as effective and stern as they may appear to be, they often perceive the world in a very solidified, preconceived manner. And even though there is some difficulty being sensitive and subtle, this is still the loveliest and kindest of all knights. The Knight of Pentacles travels slowly, and he is often depicted as the only knight to be still, not in motion. Either way, he always attains his objectives, for he tends to choose always the safest path.

— Queen of Pentacles: Water + Earth.

            Connected to all things beautiful and pretty, the Queen of Pentacles is often a kind and resourceful character. She exerts a steady confidence and may even have a powerful maternal aura about her. Like her Page, the Queen of Pentacles has great aesthetic sense and never disappoints in matters like decoration, harmony and art. Her heart is vain, but that doesn’t mean she can’t be gentle. As a matter of fact, the Queen of Pentacles tends to be quite generous regarding material affairs. Of all Queens, she’s the most practical and kindhearted one.

— King of Pentacles: Fire + Earth.

            Mature, rich and established, the King of Pentacles rules supreme over all practical and material matters. He is a King of finances and business, but nevertheless has accumulated great wisdom about living the good life. Because of this, the King of Pentacles often relates to a character that is in a position to give advice or administer projects. There is no doubt among society that he is powerful and must be respected for all the things he has conquered through his dedication and hard-working attitude. Like his Queen, the King of Pentacles is quite resourceful and always finds solutions to material problems. However, there may be some difficulty dealing with more sensitive matters and feelings.

Johan, Tenma and Nina: “I am You and You are Me”

Hello anon!

Thank you for the ask!

In order to properly analyze Johan though, rather than focusing only on his relationship with Tenma, I think it is important to explore his relationship and foiling with Nina as well, so I hope you won’t mind if in this meta I explore her too.

As a matter of fact, I would say that Tenma, Nina and Johan are the three main characters of Monster and Nina and Tenma’s respective relationships with Johan are equally important to the final outcome and to define who Johan is.

I would also add that it has been a while since I read Monster and even if I will reread some parts for the meta, I am sure I’ll forget many details and subplots which might have added something to this analysis.

This meta will be divided into four sections.

- The first will explore the relationship between Johan and Nina/Tenma and how the picture books convey it.

-The second will say what Johan’s symbolical meaning is within the story.

-The third will be an analysis on who Johan really is (at least a hypothesis).

-The fourth will be a conclusion.

TAROT + L&DS...

i'm gonna expand more on my l&ds tarot post about caleb, because there was just so much more of my thoughts that i left out and i didn't wanna squish it all in a reblog. i keep coming back to the card spread and with it being in regards to very particular details, here's a few pointers i wanted to emphasize:

the only card that specifically speaks out to caleb and identifies him is the ten of swords. while both suits (the number 10 + swords) are significant in their power of what they symbolize, the cards that follow this situation are major arcana.

with the major arcana in mind, these are cards that are linked to more power that can flourish to something world-changing. it has to do with fundamental choices that feel like life or death with no in between. so even though caleb's darkness is going to disturb a foundational ground, the hanged man and the wheel of fortune (both reversed) simply mean the divine/the universe is going to be working against whatever he puts out because it's not beneficial or... good. lol.

in the numeric order of the major arcana, between the hanged man and the wheel of fortune are justice and death. the specific order goes: wheel of fortune (X) 🡢 justice (XI) 🡢 the hanged man (XII) 🡢 death (XIII). ((walk with me here, plz.))

it's common nowadays for tarot to be associated with astrology, however i am not too knowledgeable on it and only know the basic things! i bring this up solely to highlight justice, which directly stands between the card that symbolizes caleb's downfall & the card that symbolizes the the person who would be most affected by caleb's betrayal (the mc). the zodiac sign associated with justice is libra... xavier is a libra.

ADDITIONALLY & MORE IMPORTANTLY – the card that comes before the wheel of fortune in numeric order is the hermit (IX). the zodiac sign associated to this major arcana is virgo... zayne is a virgo.

justice is a card that embodies pretty much what its called: justice, signifying a balance or at most bringing it back or instilling it where it belongs. similar with the hermit, almost, that card calls for the need of self-reflection or a pointer to do so. with the hermit, it can also mean seeking the wisdom of a guiding light (similar to the one that the desolate man carries in the illustration of the card).

THE TLDR: xavier and zayne are going to play very big roles in resolving the central conflict (caleb). i think while it's pretty clear xavier just has this prominent role as the mc's protector/partner, zayne's role as a protector is going to shift into something more dynamic. maybe even risky. (perhaps, alluding to the theory that this may be dawnbreaker?)

that's pretty much all i have to say! i'm so exhausted from interpreting this and am going to replenish my energy (it's necessary). again putting the disclaimer that i am still learning about tarot, and doing this was just for the sake of fun! i think this is the most sense i've made of a theory just because i'm so passionate about the platform i used and i've understood everything so much better since i'm familiar with it. i'm really, really interested to hear any additional thoughts (or even further pointers/corrections on my knowledge) and i would love to hear from those who are more well-versed in tarot/astrology.

As some of you might already know, I’m a dentist, but still at uni. Sadly, studying dentistry is extremely expensive, and I can’t rely on my parents to pay my fees for me for a few reasons.

The first being that my dad is a heart patient, and can’t work anymore. The pension he receives is literally less than the equivalent of 90 dollars. Of course, that doesn’t provide anything in terms of food and living (we usually can only afford a meal or two a day) except for some of his meds—not even all of them. His health is steadily declining.

My mother is extremely narcissistic and very, very abusive. I’ve gone through hell living with her because I have to, but even she can’t even afford to take care of us because no one wants to hire her at her old age, and she’s used up all her savings on my dad.

I’m also physically disabled, and can’t move around often. I also have to have surgeries every now and then because of the chronic illness I have.

I am in serious, dire need of money, both for my tuition fees, and hopefully to be able to live. I have to keep us afloat until I can get married in a couple of years, since I can’t live alone. Besides, my dad doesn’t deserve to suffer with his heart problems.

I tried working with dentistry last year, and that worked for a while, but this year no one’s hiring due to the terrible state of our economy. I have no skills aside from my writing, so that’s what I’ll have to work with. I’m getting seriously desperate, so I hope you guys understand why I’m doing this, and hopefully feel inclined to offer any support you can—even if not financial, but just by reblogging this post!
