I feel like Sethos is pretty similar to Leo Valdez from heroes of Olympus. (Wild way to start I know but hear me out)

They have an eerily similar dynamic with their goofy humour and laid back personality which is contrasted by their intelligent minds (Sethos being the leader of the temple of silence and Leo being an inventor) as well as the feeling of not belonging in their respective groups.

So is it a reach if I say that maybe, just maybe Sethos has the same insecurities as Leo? Sadly Sethos has only come out recently so he doesn't appear anywhere apart from Cyno's quest and his own voicelines, obviously we have limited information to go off from.

I find it easy to believe that Sethos might hold some insecurities from his fight with Cyno deep down and I also think that a lot of his relaxed persona is just that. A persona. Just like Leo who appears goofy and fun in all pov's and yet his own is full of self loathing monologues, that's how I think Sethos' hangout (if it ever drops) could play out like.

I will admit that after the dramatic battle with Cyno and his whole life turning around with his grandfather's death I expected to see a little more angst in his voicelines especially the more advanced friendship level sections given how much he's been through. The guy literally prepared all his life for a destiny that never came to be and is now stripped from his former powers, left to clean up the aftermath of his organisations messy decisions by himself!

As much as I would love for hoyo to explore his character more I have learned not to expect anything from them. I guess we'll have to let fic authors do their job on this one. (By which I mean recommend me fics please)

Being into gothic horror is wild, because you’ll look up the reviews/public opinion on a book and all the posts will be like “ugh, this was insufferable. The main character was the most melodramatic whiny narcissist cunt who’s perspective I’ve ever had the displeasure of following. When the main character wasn’t whining, it was just pages and pages of the most useless boring shit describing stupid landscapes over and over again. Boring and insufferable to read.”

And then you’ll get the book and read it and it’ll be like “Hi, I’m gothic protagonist. My entire family got brutally murdered by an unknown person and I also got horrifically abused as a child and struggle with severe mental illness, and now there’s unholy paranormal forces at work all against me, but at least I have the love of my life and my closest friends who I’d kill and die for and they’d do the same for me. Even though I’m cripplingly psychologically unwell and severely burdened with the mass of terrible things in my past, I’m going to figure out and track down the thing that killed my family and seek to destroy it, whilst poetically mirroring my suffering with the most beautiful and profound descriptions of the nature around me that you’ve ever read, contrasting the horror of nature with the beauty and goodness of it and giving you an existential crisis. This book is going to make you so ridiculously attached to these characters and change your whole perception of the life you lead.”

do you guys ever think that furina hates the concept of eternity after everything that happened in the archon quest? humans tend to like the concept of eternity and immortality, and hate the change that comes with life (like death, moving to a new place, quitting a job and getting a new one, gaining and losing friends and lovers) but what about furina?

she was forced to keep up this act 24/7 for 500 years, which, to a human who had no prior experience with life, that mustve seemed like an eternity. days bled into weeks into months into years into centuries, and the lines between centuries began to look a lot like eternity. and it was all terrible for her, so interminable, so lonely, so painful.

so do you think she loves change now? do you think she ever sits out in a grassy field and watches the wind blow some dandelion seeds through the air, and thinks about the people she knew centuries ago, and lets them go just like those seeds?

has she let go of neuvillette? does she ever think about him when she looks out the window of her apartment at night, unable to sleep? or has she forgotten him and his memory, hundreds of thousands of trials gone by, centuries working side by side, several empty cups of tea stacked on his desk late at night, several bottles of water imported from the other nations that he wanted her to taste so badly?

if she hasnt let go, does she want to? if she has, does she wish she hadnt?

or what if she couldnt help but to forget him? what if the events in fontaine forced her to just. let go and move on? what if shes let go of him, but she wishes she was able to hold on and

Thinking about the Sumeru crew as a D&D adventuring party. With Dehya, Alhaitham, Cyno, Kaveh, Tighnari and Collei as the main party.

Battlesmith Artificer Kaveh with Mehrak as his Steel Defender. He went to school to train as an arcitect but after he found out some suspicious secret about his father's death, he joins the crew looking for more answers about that. He misses his simple job and sometimes feels that adventuring isn't worth it but he needs to get to the bottom of things or it will eat away at him.

Order of the Scribes wizard Alhaitham. He had a 9-5 as a scribe at one of the largest wizard schools in the world but discovered the secret about Kaveh's father and showed it to him. He tagged along but will never give a proper answer to why (it was to help Kaveh.)

Bloodhunter Cyno. Order of the Profain Soul with his patron being Hermanubis. He was experimented on as a child by the people at the wizard school Alhaitham worked at (prior to him working there), before he was helped by a kind mage who took him in. He joined the adventure in order to help people and make the world safer and to ensure no one would end up like him, no matter the cost to himself.

Ranger Tighnari. Formerly went to an arcane school but despised the people there and the way they look down on nature and the world in order to bend things to their own whims. Pledged himself to protecting the forests, working with druids to care for it as it was heavily neglected by the mages within the city. He is looking for a cure for the withering that is corrupting the forests.

Ranger Collei. Taken from her home and given to a warlock patron with a hobby for human experimentation. Found by Cyno who severed her warlock pact and taken to live in the forests. Cyno thought Tighnari would be a good caretaker and he took her in as a younger sister. She wants to help however she can but still suffers occasional sicknesses from her severed pact.

Fighter Dehya with a level in Barbarian. She grew up on the outskirts, in small towns that were neglected and she saw the injustice people faced out there. She grew strong so she could keep herself and people she cared for safe, despite whatever life wants to throw at her. She worked along side Candace but while Candace protects them from home, she thought her services would better help outside.

(Bonus: Oath of the Crown Paladin Candace who mainly stays in Aaru Village to protect the people there but will help out the crew every now and then.)

As a professional multifandom yapper I feel that I should have a disclaimer that this is not exclusively a genshin blog. I mostly talk about genshin but its certainly not the only fandom I'm in. I'm *very* multifandom but I think what unites all of my fandoms together is that one loser old man I'm gonna simp for that always exists in all the media I consume.

I love it when genshin fic authors decide to focus on "the other woman" in fics. Tell me why there is so much more kaveh angst than alhaitham for example. Alhaitham is actually a great character to write angst for, he literally bottles up all of his feelings, I would not be surprised if this man has not even processed the death of his grandmother, the grief probably still comes to him at unexpected random times. His sensitivity to sound also makes for some really fluffy hurt comfort scenes and him kind of breaking character and actually opening up is also a great premise for a fic. Kaveh is kind and honest and as much as I do enjoy him in fics where he needs comforting, I think he'd be a great caretaker for alhaitham as well.

That's with a lot of ships in which the fandom collectively chooses one to be the caretaker and the other the whump (metaphorically speaking). I want to see the caretaker being taken care of, I want to see the independent one breaking down!!! There are not enough fics out there that turn the trope around!!!!

Realising that Gerard Way literally just wrote some fucking self-insert fanfiction about him and his besties hanging out being superheroes in a dystopian desert AU and it got an international release with a major publisher. They did a world tour that was just 'come watch me and my friends LARPing lol' !!!?
