I was angry with my foe, I told it not my wraith did grow And I sunned it with smiles; And soft deceitful wiles In the morning glad I see; my foe outstretched beneath the tree.

“Yeah.” she replied with a slight nod, and for a moment the pain of the fact she had lost her magic hit her, thankfully briefly. It wasn’t the same, being human again without her magic being present, but it was as good as she was going to get, and she was grateful for the opportunity to enjoy it for one night. “You can always go home early if you want? Hide out.”
“I’m sorry.” He’d heard of the loss witches felt at losing their magic from being turned, some relished in it, but until tonight he didn’t realise what that loss would feel like. To him being a wolf was a gift, he had to see it as such otherwise his mothers life would have been given in vain, but it wasn’t the same for everyone. “I would, but my family is here, here I’m uncomfortable, at home I’d be a mess.” He admitted honestly, giving her a small smile.

To say that Sophia was stressed out was an understatement. A worrier by nature the blood moon seemed to enhance that given their very real vulnerable state. The Greyson’s had accumulated several enemies over their time and she had no reason to believe that tonight they would get peace from that. Hearing a familiar voice she turned to see Cole and she offered him the best smile she could muster. “Have you ever known me not to worry?” She said softly reaching out to caress his cheek. “I’m just a little on edge, I’m worried about the little ones is all.” That was a lie, she was worried about everyone but the small ones at home caused her even more stress. “How are you doing sweetheart, are you alright?” She asked a note of concern, she could sense his uneasiness.
“It’s been known to happen, for about a second when you switch from worrying about one thing to worrying about another.” He teased, giving her a small smile at her touch on his cheek, taking a small familiar comfort from it. “They’ll be fine, we’re the ones in trouble if anything and you know it.” He pointed out with a shrug, his eyes scanning the room for what felt like the thousandth time that night, looking for a danger that he wasn’t sure he’d be able to spot in this state. “I’m not loving it.” Cole replied, downplaying the discomfort he felt. His distaste for the blood moon wasn’t reserved for just him being human for the first time in a century; he’d already lost two families, and tonight was the one night in a millennia where he was at risk of losing another. “I can’t remember what it was like being human, this is... new.”

“Wanting to enjoy it, I’ll be honest.” she replied with a small smile, taking a small step to the side so that he could join her in the alcove. It was a beautiful view of the blood moon over Hollow Grove, and she wanted to imprint it on her memory permanently. “It’s only been a few months for me, so I’ll admit… it’s a welcome return.” she replied with a small smile, and she watched the sky for a moment before she turned her attention back to Chester, “You going to be okay?”
“Thats good.” He said with a small smile as he stepped out onto the balcony, leaning slightly against the railing. Glancing out at the moon he wished it were any other night, that he wasn’t weak, that his family wasn’t in danger. “You were a witch before right?” Cole asked, cocking his head slightly at the brunette. “I’ll get by, just need to stick it out till morning, I just want the night to be over.”

“So what’s the difference in the end?” She asked, crossing her arms over her chest. “It seems, either way, we’re the targets. Be it in your own home, or in a massive event. There’s a choice between panic, which would be in here if something were to happen. Or it would be just death if you’re off somewhere else. I don’t really see the silver lining. Except for the open bar maybe.” She shrugged. The whole evening Dani was trying to tell herself that this was just any event, just without the powers. Like a witch bar which stripped off powers. And even though she had the slight comfort of a gun attached to her thigh, courtesy to Haylee, she didn’t seem to get too relaxed. “Best fighters or not, I believe we have some sort of hierarchy in this town. After all, we have all kinds of originals here.” She smiled, letting a strang of hair slightly cover her eyes before quickly tucking it back in place. “There isn’t. I want to drink but I also want to have a clear mind. It’s ridiculous, really.” Yet, she still smiled. It was a good party after all.
“If there is an attack it’d be a lot easier to deal with if we’re all here, despite the panic, you have all your resources pooled, and I’m pretty sure there’s basically an armoury set up somewhere, as though most people here aren’t already armed.” He replied. He was armed to the teeth with as much weaponry he could fit on him without it being noticed, so as not to cause panic. “And yeah, the open bar is pretty damn good. He chuckled. “What do you mean?” Cole asked curiously, cocking his head slightly. “Well we’re all sitting ducks here anyway right? How much is a clear head going to help you if we’re all blown to kingdom come?”

Danielle arched her brow at his words. “Safer? Do you honestly think that?” She didn’t trust people enough to think that she would be safe here. Even though she did decide to come here, after all, a crowd full of humans wasn’t necessarily something that she would have called safe. “We’re all in the same room, like goats. Someone could blow up the place, and boom, we’re gone,” she said it nonchalantly, though, in the back of her mind, she hoped that wasn’t the case. “You’re not the only one. Though I’m going to wait a bit till I get more alcohol in my system.” A smile crossed her lips. Dani wanted to at least know if the place was going to go bonkers or not before she got a buzz.
“No matter what it’s a no win situation; you’re right, here we’re a single target, but if we were all roaming about town it’d be easy for people to be picked off, and no one could know the town was under attack.” Cole shrugged. He still didn’t know how he felt about all this, but wouldn’t say anything expressly against it, it was his family’s plan and he owed Sophia the courtesy of not trashing the plan. “It’s safety in numbers I guess; and you have some of the best fighters in the world here, with or without their abilities, so there’s that.” He added, knowing there was people that even in their weakened states could take down an army. “What’s the fun in that?” He asked with a small smirk.

It was the most ridiculous thing of all days. Sure, Danielle most days, was the one to listen in on all the happenings of the city. At the very least, know what was happening. But her mind for most week was busy else where, focusing on making a few life decisions, instead of the talk about the upcoming ball. Which was why she didn’t find out about the power of the blood mood until much later. Getting used to the vampire speed and strength had come at a serious disadvantage. Which much have looked ridiculous, when she tried to get to one corner of the room, only to drop on the floor. Thankfully, her dress was hiding the big bruise on her left leg. Spotting a familiar face in the crowd, Dani excused herself and walked straight towards them. “The fuck is with today?” She asked, taking a sip of her wine. Which she knew she actually had to slow down today. “Out of all days, this is the day?”
He hated this, and could not wait for the night to be over and done with. He wanted to be a wolf again, wanted to feel the strength in his bones and for his senses not to feel muffled as though he was underwater. He couldn’t remember what it was like to be human, it had been so long ago and he’d been human for such a short time; though he loathed the circumstances of his triggering, he was ready to be a wolf again. He’d taken to drinking, filling the empty feeling inside with alcohol, and it was hitting him far quicker than it would have ordinarily. Hearing someone talk he downed his drink before answering. “This all happening today is kind of the point, it’s easier to protect a group of newly human people if they’re all in one place rather than spread over a town.” He said, waving down the bartender for another drink. “I’m not complaining, I hate this, so the open bar is helping.”

He hated this, hated the feeling of being human, of being weak, of his senses being dulled. He couldn’t wait for the night to be over, for him to be a wolf again. The memories of his human life were so dim they were barely a whisper; he remembered his parents and his pack sure, but not what being human had been like. He needed distraction to pull himself out of his own head, so he searched for a familiar head of blonde hair, not entirely sure what he would do when he found her, but knowing there’d be a kind of comfort in the familiar. He could almost feel the worry radiating from her as he approached and gave her a smile. “Fretting isn’t going to help you know, we just have to wait this hell out.”

The sky had looked beautiful, she had to admit that and she had found herself standing on a balcony, tucked away from the crowd as she took a moment to breath. She was human, if only for a night and she felt…strange about it all. A mix of emotions overwhelmed the brunette, and she felt she might break down with them all at any moment. To be human was incredible, to still be human without magic hurt, but she had gotten so used to having the power of a werewolf that she was confused to how she felt without it. It had become part of her without her realising it. Hearing a voice behind her she turned around, “…Busted. You found my hiding spot.”
He couldn’t remember what it was like when he was human, he had memories of those times sure, but the sensations of being human were foreign to him. He’d been triggered so young that this was all new to him, the lack of strength, the dulled senses, everything. He needed to get out of the commotion of the ball, it was too much, too strange to him, so he made his way to the edges of the crowd, then finding the balcony. He hadn’t expected anyone to be out there, and was a little surprised to see the brunette. “Well I’m willing to share if you are.” He joked with a light smile. “I just needed to get out of there, it’s too strange; what’s your excuse?”

“What do you think?” Nik questioned the other as he finished the song up, looking over at the other. “Should I continue, or just smash this up and make stakes out of the remaining wood?”

“I’m always down for more stakes in the world.” Cole said to the other werewolf, nodding with faked seriousness, before cracking into a cheeky grin. “And anything to get you to stop playing is good in my book.”

She turned to where he pointed, seeing the vampire leave.”Well turn me upside down and paint me blue,” Theresa said, her mouth slightly dropping. “You actually made me eat me words for once-no one but my husband can make me do that.” And it was rare for anyone to do that, but he was the second person to do that.
“I guess your husband and I are a very special sort.” Cole shrugged, his eyes lingering on the vampire he’d beaten to make sure that he left the club, before he brought them back to look at the woman, offering her a slight smile.

“Welcome back, then,” Ryan inclined his head and tilted his drink to the other before taking another sip. Sighing, he turned back to the room, eyes scanning the area. “What brought you back? Couldn’t have been the opponents,” he flashed a lopsided smile, “M’sure there’re better people to fight elsewhere. Like Vegas or some shit.”
“Thanks.” Cole nodded before following suit with his own drink. “I have a friend who got in a bit of trouble and she’s from here, so I came here with her; plus my family is here.” He shrugged nonchalantly, though his description of the situation with Olive was the understatement of the century. “Vegas is alright, personally I preferred living in Hong Kong over Vegas, fighting was fun there.” He replied, before continuing. “But I haven’t been to Vegas in a while, I left the states after Summerdale.”

“There is something to be said for that but I still think there’s an inherently lucky, or unlucky, quality about some people.” Cal wasn’t stupid or a salesman but thieves had to believe in luck to some extent. “It’s useful to have a wide array of skills, isn’t it?” Cal smirked, as if to imply something besides the games the other had listed. “A beer it is. Any particular brand or simply whatever’s coldest?”
“Claiming someone is lucky or unlucky just an excuse.” Cole shrugged. He refused to believe in luck, refused to believe that there was anything in the world that was just purely uncontrollable, he couldn’t live with that. “Yep, and I had decades to master them.” The wolf smirked, picking up the double meaning. “Whatever’s coldest.”

Danielle was already sitting behind the bar. Since she worked at Nina’s, she aimed to change her surroundings every now and again. There were some people who had a booth, and she was with them at first, but too quickly she became bored. The same conversations that were discussed with too much enthusiasm. Taxes? Cheating husbands? Dani didn’t have the patience for it, instead, she had grabbed her stuff, thus when the whole scene unfolded, she was already at the bar, seeing the scene first hand. As the man sat back down, she turned towards him and grinned. “That was very nicely done.” She said, lifting her glass in salute.
Cole was torn away from the hurricane in his mind by the sound of a woman speaking, and he took steps to try and calm himself before turning his head to look at the woman speaking. “Thanks.” Cole replied with a slight smile, his mouth opening to begin talking to her, before he stopped realising what she was. It was the curse of his heightened sense he supposed, that little metallic smell that gave away that someone was a vampire.

Laura shook her head and looked down at her drink. “Oh no, I’m sorry.” She replied. “I’m just… I’ve never been here before and seeing that, well…” She paused. “It was a surprise, that’s all.” Laura picked up her drink and took a small sip before smiling at him. “Do you beat vampires a lot?” She asked suddenly.
Hearing her reply Cole couldn’t help but feel a little bad for snapping and focused on his breathing as she spoke so as to reel back his rage. “I’ve only been here a few times myself, and this seems pretty par for the course.” He replied, letting the slightest smile grace the corners of his mouth. “When they do something to deserve it.” Cole answered, purposely not mentioning how little it took for a vampire to deserve it in his mind.

“Okay,” she reached for her beer and waited. “I’mma sit right here and wait and see who’s gonna win.”
Glancing over his shoulder, Cole saw the vampire heading for the door, clearly nursing his pride. “I think I just did.” He said, pointing out the vampire to the woman. He would have happily put on a show for her, beating the vampire within an inch of his life, but he couldn’t do that to his family, particularly not in this town, their town.
