“college is bullshit, the SATs are bullshit, it’s all a scam” i tell my 16 year old junior in high school friend, as i sit in my dorm, striving for good grades in college after taking SAT prep courses in high school

reasons why i love going to a women’s college:

i haven’t been talked over once, in any of my classes. not once. not one single time. people always wait for me to finish talking. i love it, and i love my college

me: *disassociates through the entire semester*

me: wow, what a great semester.

on the one hand college is stressful and I don’t know how I feel about being on my own and I was accidentally using twice as much detergent as I should have and that was pretty not great

and i am definitely not healthy at all and as it turns out i eat no protein. at all. like none. i am such a mess

but then i have incredible discussions in my seminar class. and i’m actually learning things in my fiction writing class. and becoming less of a floppy mess in phed. i am. quite possibly growing as a person.

but math is still pretty shit  i still want to cry while doing my homework and the textbook his horrible so that hasn’t changed

college is. different

and i am horrible at identifying my emotions more than ‘oh hey i am feeling a thing. what thing? who knows but i sure am feeling it’

i’m an adult now

what the actual fuck, guys, who said i was allowed to grow up because it wasn’t me

Friend: “Man, I’m so tired, I stayed up till like four last night studying.”

Me: “Nice, how do you feel about that test then?”

Friend: “Oh, I definitely failed it”

But then it’s also…

Guy in a group of other guys walking toward me on the sidewalk: “Hey, is a hotdog a sandwich?”

Me: “Uh…. No?”

Guy: “See? She knows what the fuck she’s doing with her life.”

And then there’s sometimes…

Freshman: “I’m so tired, I had two tests this week and I’m so tired of studying!”

That one person, always: “Oh, wait till you get to sophomore year! I have three tests this week and a practical and two labs and a paper due! :)”

Freshman: O.O

And then, strangely enough…

Professor: “…And then there’s birds, if you believe in them.”

Students collectively: ????????

Professor: “Oh yeah, birds don’t really exist. It’s a paraphyletic error.”

Students: ?!?!

Professor: “Yeah, I know. Birds don’t exist.”

Like there’s so much learning and yet so much that I wish I was making up???? College is weird man.

went home for fall break.

everything was weird and normal at the same time. I don’t know if that makes sense. 

it’s still my room, but it’s been cleaned and organized and not lived in for over a month. most of my stuff is in my dorm. family patterns have changed. i’m home but i’m not, and the water tastes a little weird

maybe i don’t have a permanent home right now
