i love the conspiracy theory that western historians don't want people to know about the etruscan civilization for whatever reason because girl they literally took us to populonia at least three times between elementary and middle school what the hell are you even talking about

Today's the day. Over 50 ships from 44 countries all over the world will set sail from Barcellona for Gaza, to try and break the siege and bring in humanitarian relief.
The people involved are all civilians, people who risks their lives and have everything to lose but who neverthless are ready to step up where our govenrments and our "democracy" are hiding their heads in the sand.
If your media are anything like mine, chances are you haven't even heard of this initiative so I urge you to take to Instagram, TikTok, X , every social media you have to follow the fleet. To reblog, share and talk about it. To make it impossible for the governments of the world to ignore it.
From today on Eyes on the Flottila.
The Global Sumud Flotilla represents a convergence of struggles across continents:
The Global Campaign to Return to Palestine mobilized thousands of activists worldwide.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition, with roots going back to 2010, brings long experience of organizing maritime resistance.Â
The Maghreb Sumud Convoy, launched in June 2025, gathered over 1,000 participants from across North Africa under the banner of âcoordinated action for Palestineâ.
The Nusantara Sumud Initiative, launched from Malaysia and eight other Southeast Asian countries, embodies SouthâSouth solidarity inspired by Palestinian steadfastness.
Together, these four networks transformed the flotilla from a handful of ships into a people-powered humanitarian corridor. The first official mission is scheduled for August 31, 2025, from Spain, followed by a second launch from Tunisia on September 4, with more than 50 ships expected to participate.

poor goddamn Sasuke during the 4th war. his brother just came back and ignored every question Sasuke asked him, instead breaking into a dead sprint for Kabuto to beat that nerd into releasing him back into the sweet arms of death, and then Itachi CONTINUES to ignore him as they have a fight to the death with Kabuto, and honestly Sasuke would be on board with killing Kabuto if him and Itachi didn't seem to GET ALONG SO WELL. Itachi is talking to KABUTO instead of answering ANY of Sasuke's questions. Sasuke NEVER wants to hear an annoying ass villain sob story monolouge again. smashcut 50 hours later (or something I don't know the numbers on the 4th war timeline. yet.) and he is being paralyzed by some weird black goo and told the sob story of this alien-god-FREAK that just kicked his ass. for three episodes straight. sits through an annoying ass monolouge for an HOUR about kaguya's life and topping it off by having the weird goo claim that he's been manipulating the Uchiha clan from the shadows for CENTURIES, leading to every bad thing that ever happened to them INCLUDING their slaughter. and THEN you get like 5 minutes to fight your frustration out before you get stuck in another UNSKIPPABLE fucking cutscene about that DAMN family by the SAGE OF SIX PATHS. i can't imagine a person in any universe that would care less about hagoromo's guilt over the fruits of his attempt at parenting then Sasuke Uchiha.

O'BALL D' 'E 'MPENNATE
youtube
This is one of my favourite songs of hers, visceral, sensual, evocative. It takes you back to ancient times and old rites. It's a dance, a dangerous game, an act of resistence turned into an ancestral ritual of the kind practiced in the night, around a fire, hidden by the rest of the world.
(lyrics and translation underneath)
O'BALL D' 'E 'MPENNATE
Quann' âo sole sâ arretira
quann' âa terra se fa nera
tutt' chell' caâ nun crire
bell' âe bbuono seâ fa âo vero
Zuoccole vattono ânterra
ânta ânu lago âe sudore
sâappriparene pâ âa guerra
scamazzanno foglie dâoro
Sottâ a chistu cielo âe fierro
cantano doje voce antiche
sotto âe zizze dâo munno
addoâ sâannasconne âa vita
Corrono cu' âe code aizate
ngoppâ âa strada lucente
fann' âo bballo dâe mpennate
attuorno âo palo ardente
THE DANCE OF THE WHEELIES*
When the sun goes to rest
When the earth turns dark
Everything you don't believe in
Suddenly** becomes real
Wooden clogs beats on the ground
In a lake of sweat
They prepare for war
Stomping on golden leaves.
Underneath this steely sky
Two ancient voices sing
Underneath the breasts of the world
Where the life hides.
They run with their tails raised
On the shiny road
They dance the dance of the wheelies
Around the burning pole
*First of all let me say how undignified Wheelie is as a word and now much I hated using it in this contest.
Secondly I've used this translation in the text but I believe the meaning is left purposely ambiguous, it can either be the "game" played on the bikes by groups of young people testing themselves in races or equilibrium (the shiny road, the raised tails). Or 'mpennate can mean "covered in feathers" in which case it refers to women dancing traditional dances (the wooden shoes, the pole, the golden leaves). Imo both meaning are valid since either activity is an act of rebellion against a patriarcal and classist society that most often than not forsakes the people of the south of Italy and specifically the women, left to fight alone against a system that wants them subjugated and meek.
**bell'e buon it's a figure of speech that means suddenly, out of nowhere

PICA PICA
youtube
A delicate and soft hymn to life, to take it easy and do not let difficulties and the hectic pace of everyday life keep you down, because there is always the tomorrow.
(lyrics and translation underneath)
PICA PICA
Doje aucielle soâ venute stammatina
Mentre je cantave commâ e lloro
So venute a me cercaâ peâ faâ ammuina
E pe ji âa arrubbĂĄ lâargiento e lâoro
E soâ venute doce doce e chianu chiano
E me vonne fa vulaâ pe jĂŹ luntano
Ma je nun tengâ piume teng' sulo âe mmane
Ma je nun tengâ piume teng' sulo âe mmane
E bellâ e bbuon âo sole se fa janche
Comme âna luna senza notte
Mmiezâ âo vientâ sento âna ninna nanna
Caâ âstu core mâha fatto arrepusĂ
Pica Pica Piâ
Nun te preoccupĂĄ
Pica Pica Piâ
Tiene voglia âe faâ
Ogge nun è lâurdemo juorno
Ca tâ hĂŞ âa sceta'
E si pure fosse tu pienzâ a cantaâ
Ogge nun è lâurdemo juorno
Ca tâhĂŞ âa sceta'
E si pure fosse tu pienzâ a cantaâ
PICA PICA*
Two birds came this morning
While I was singing like them
They came find me to make some noise
And to go steal the silver and the gold.
They came sweetly and slowly**
And want me to fly and go far away
But I've got no feathers I only have hands
But I've got no feathers I only have hands
Suddenly the sun turns white
Like a moon without the night
In the wind I can hear a lullaby
That made this heart rest
Pica pica Pi
Don't you worry
Pica pica pi
You have the will to do***
Today's not the last day
You have to wake up
And even if it were you only worry about singing.
*probably refers to the sounds of birds
**in original version there's a repetition of the words sweetly and slowly (technically they're not even adverbs in neapolitan) that's a typical turn of phrase to indicate softness
*** voglia 'e' fa - voglia di fare - another typical figure of speech that indicates the willingness of a person to get involved in things and be active. Can have both negative and positive connotation

La niùa mixes electronic beats and middle-eastern influences to give a ruthless and sensual depiction of Salomè
(lyrics and translation underneath the cut)
'Na vocca doce fatta peâ vasĂ

Peggio peâ ttè, peggio pe ttè

SALOMĂ
A sweet mouth, made to kiss
She sings words made to enchant
She dances alone, she's got the world around her
For a look you lose your sleep.
This hunger of flash cannot be sated
These golden eyes are a spring of light
Joke's on you, joke's on you
If you've lost your head for a woman called
Salomè, Salomè
Wind that burns scatter these words
Dry the tears inside this heart
Bring me the blood of who has betrayed me
If you want me to dance like this for the rest of our lives
Joke's on you, joke's on you
If you've lost your head for a woman called
Salomè, Salomè
Salomè in this life has only given death
If you're still alive it's because you've got luck
The desert's sand hides all the sins
Those who went this way have never come back
Those who want to make her happy end up badly
Blood makes her crazy as if it were silver
There's who has believed it was love for a night
And ended up with his head on a golden plate.
Salomè, Salomè
You've lost your head for a woman called
Salomè, Salomè

popular culture used to be very much about eroticism. rockstars used to be on stage in sequins and thongs and thigh high boots playing guitars like they were masturbating. girls used to wear velvet mini dresses and no bras and red-brick-brown lipstick and mascara on their bottom lashes. people used to have body hair on television and in the movies. people used to be sweaty. people used to touch each other over denim and under cotton. foreplay used to be staring at someone over the rim of a glass across a bar across a park across a dinner table. people used to want. i think weâve lost something

I'm curious because I'm pretty sure I'm an outlier (my mom's a librarian so we went very often when I was younger) but I want to know if that's true.
#so this one's difficultĂ #because we didn't have a library in my town but for a few years we had a children dedicated one#run by volunteers and i used to go there pretty often for a while#then i became annoyed by the volunteers who wanted to make us play and do activities while i just wanted to read#so i stopped#i think the library has closed now though#which is a fucking shamw
