god.  god.  i think about httyd’s world and i want to burst into tears.   of all that breathes and crawl across the earth.   we want to live before the wind,   in the wind,   our own reality.    time is only the unhousing of ourselves,   and we recognize it straightaway.

lately i’ve been thinking about when orson welles said that if you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story and honestly  ?   he was right  !  

but then you have to think about when shel silverstein said there are no happy endings. endings are the saddest part, so just give me a happy middle, and a very happy start.

hiccup  is  not  that  boy   gets me in such an introspective way,  and it’s put so easily into the beginning of the film,  so seamlessly that you just Get It without even looking that deeply into it  ?  how it is both comparison  /  understanding   /  separation  ?  it’s the first time as a viewer that we are learning about who hiccup is when he’s not the narrator of the story,  how instead we get this moment from stoick,  from his perspective,  who is like The Personification of the Definition of a True Viking, and to do this he tells the story of how  even as a boy,  i knew who i was   /   who i could be   /   who i had to become. 

and as we’ve seen,  how hiccup    –––––    hiccup is not that boy.   it’s the first instance where we are told how he is an outsider versus shown and it fits so well ?  how it is so multifaceted ?  we see stoick’s disappointment and regret with the missed connection,  and yet it fills in the opening scene with so much more material,  nailing down every loose thread ;   how hiccup tries to be a viking,  to be even viking-like,  and how easily it falls apart  ?   and then how this scene  leads  into first meeting toothless in the forest,  and we get the pièce de résistance of not only this sequence of opening events but also the entire movie’s allegory    –––    this kid can’t kill dragons  !   won’t kill dragons  !   and we know even more than stoick in that moment how far from your typical viking hiccup really is   !   and the potential that reveal holds,   how it leads the story  !  

the flow and progression of this film is so good.    it’s so good.

i’ve been thinkin and honestly  ?    valid for dw   +   mrs.  cowell  to take the slightly less angsty way out of ending their main story.  could y’all imagine if we had to sit there and have hiccup die on us  ?   play out either with the sacrifice play w/ grimmel or even,  dare i even say it,  of old age  ?   how angsty that would have been   . .  .   bc what do you do when it comes to a point where there is literally nothing else that anyone could do  ?

hi i know i’m taking a Hot Life Break™ from this blog but i stumbled onto  once  there  were  dragons  on shuffle and i.      i just love this story  !   so much  !

This idea wouldn’t leave me alone so I drew it. Ahhh I cant get over how much of a daredevil Hiccup became~ I need to practice drawing Toothless more..damn it.

❛  okay  ,  first  of  all  ?  your  diet  is  upsetting  ,  ❜  

your  arms  fold  across  your  chest  ,  equal  parts  entertained  and  disturbed  by  your  harried  peer’s  defensive  nature  .  admittedly  ,  your  own  nutritional  fare  has  rarely  proved  something  to  be  proud  of  :  you  could  stand  to  eat  a  few  less  pepperoni  pizzas  and  make  a  few  less  visits  to  the  building’s  designated  coffee  machine  ,  but  for  a  college  student  you’ve  managed  a  tentative  balance  fairly  well  .  

hiccup’s  appears  to  have  taken  a  dramatic  dive  off  the  san  fransokyo  bridge  .

eying  your  classmate  imploringly  ,  you  reach  forward  and  seize him  by  the  narrow  build  of  his  shoulders  ——  an  attempt  to  bring  him  back  ;  to  reach  past  the  shores  and  drag  his  body  ,  wrought  from  a  mish-mash  of  last-minute  projects  and  nerve-fraying  essays  ,  back  to  the  sandy  beaches  of  partial  sanity  ,  ❛  secondly  ——-  you’re  not  gonna  be  able  to  finish  your  finals  if  you  have  a  sugar  crash  ,  einstein  ,  ❜

❛     my  diet   ?      my diet is    –––––    appropriate ,     at    –   at  least   !     ❜    

high tone emphasizing the apparent  gall  to be had ,    to be  scandalized  by a dig that has  every  truth,   fitting snugly right alongside the laws written on flashcards in front of you,   waiting for their turn to be memorized.   there’s a soft motion to kick your backpack a little further beneath the table   –   as well as further out of sight   –   that not only holds  one  extra box of the aforementioned sugary  ‘ breakfast ‘  goods,    but  two.    (    in  strawberry.   )    and for a good sale price as a broke student,   can you  really  be blamed   ?   

❛      sugar cra      –––       hey   !      there’s  more  in these than  just  sugar   !      there’s.     there’s,   uh.   carbohydrates,      obviously   !       and,     uh .      vitamins  ?     but like.    like natural      . . .     natural vitamins   ?     good  vitamins  ?    ❜    there’s another few seconds of an attempt at igniting whatever  eidetic  memory  that could be hibernating in the back of your brain of the pop - tart box’s nutrition info,   before raising the white flag.      ❛    does this mean we’re going to go for the   sugar - free   pop - tarts ,      then  ?      do you think   7 - 11   would let me fill a big gulp with coffee  ?      how much would that even cost   ?     ❜

hello it has been a whole  four  months  since httyd 3 dropped and yet.     still,     i stand empty - handed when it comes to the uploading of the tumblr audio of powell’s   the  hidden  world    title track please,   someone,    please,   my crops are withering,

i had the idea today of.       hiccup w/ a tattoo that goes around his left arm that’s in the nordic knot style    ?     nothing too.     detailed™ bc more of hic in pain     =     more angry night fury,      but having it be these big loose arching threads around his forearm   &   bicep w/ some detailing     (   accents,   dragons,   runes,   etc.   )     in some of the smaller sections   ! !       big bridge between worlds vibes,   y’feel me     ?
