City of Stars (Mammon x Reader)

You were walking home after stationary shopping when you were humming the song. It was easy to sing, or at least hum, and the you liked the cozy feeling and the comfort that it brought.

"A rush," you half-hummed and half-sung and that's when another voice joined you from behind.

"A glance," your voice and his mashed together perfectly and just as you were about to whip your head around, a pair of arms enveloped you from behind in a warm embrace.

"Ooof-"

When you felt a tug from behind, you blinked out of your startled haze and turned around to greet the white-haired demon. His fluffy hair tickled your neck, forcing out a short-lived involuntary giggle out of you, "Hello."

"Keep singing," he muttered into the hug.

You smiled, "Ok," rocking your heels as you were just then, you gently sang the next piece of lyric.

"A touch."

Two voices blended together, to you, in the most mythical way possible.

Mammon took your hand in his, weaving them together and placing a tender kiss on it, "A dance."

His blue eyes, white and yellow specks glowing amidst them, meet yours and he held out his other hand, one that you took immediately. How could you not? Why would you not, when he looked every bit the prince of your dreams that he is?

"Ra ta ta da da da da," he began a lively waltz, swaying left to right swiftly with the pace of his personalized song, your locked hands swinging back and forth, and you couldn't help but laugh along at his goofy grin.

That joyful gaze that he had, was so contagious it was in a way, irresistible. Lovely. Sunny. So warm. You chuckled but shortly followed his humming, dancing along with his steps, gales of laughter escaping you at the times he twirled you.

"Ra ta da da of my heart," Mammon sang the same time you tried to harmonize with him, "Da da da da da."

He had a tender clasp on your hand, placing it softly on his chest, and you could feel his heartbeat, and the hearty melody it sang - for you, his action seemed to say. One your own echoed along and matched in your chest. You looked at him, awestruck, breath leaving you and throat going dry, you tried to breathe through your parted lips.

"Think I want it to stay," he rested the hand he was holding at his chest to his shoulder and continued humming the song, the way you were doing a few minutes ago, picking up on the sway of the waltz again, but this time, slower, as if he was savouring the moment.

"You've never shined so brightly."

And with that soft look that made your heart race every single time, he pressed a kiss on your forehead.

"Mammon?"

"Hmm?" The boy in question replied with a lazy smile, leaning into the crook of your neck with a content sigh.

You couldn't stop thinking about that delicate stare. Blue. Yellow. White. Diamonds. Brighter than the ones hanging in the night sky. You wondered if you could wish on them too. But you didn't really need to. Since the person you needed most was right in front of you.

"You have stars in your eyes."

Starry eyes. Fits perfectly with the song. This beautiful boy.

"Because I'm looking at you," he replied truthfully, and kissed your hand with a wink, though not without the slightest tint of pink adorned on his cheeks.

Goodness, you didn't know where it come from but somehow, that confident look suited him.

Cheeks flaring, you struggled to think of a reply, "You look- well, you're-"

"You look at me like that too, you know," he said, eyes hazy, lost in his own train of thought, his own little world, but looked up to lock eyes with you.

Mammon grinned, that dorky smile that made you fell for him.

"And I love it."

The shy look on his face returned, and Mammon cleared his throat, face flushed, "Alright, let's go home," he gave your hand a light squeeze. looking ahead onto the roads instead.

"Home is where the heart is."

"Huh?" Mammon whisked back, face to face with you, confused.

You took advantage of this small moment of confusion, singing to him, melody just above a whisper, but enough for him to hear perfectly, "But that's not where mine lives."

Mammon blinked, a hint of his signature blush starting to form as he let the words sink in.

To make sure he got what you meant, you winked at him, sending him an air-kiss afterwards.

"Why- too cheesy, I tell ya," he mumbled, but without his glasses, there was no hiding the rouge on his cheeks.

You chuckled, trying to catch up to his frenzied pace, swinging your intertwined hands and chattering about the mischief you both caused during day along the way.
