You just know that one of the writers is annoyed by people misusing "literally" all the time, so they used the opportunity to make Rayla point out this grave mistake.

Good for them, I too would use these powers to correct people on the difference between en dashes, em dashes, and minus signs.

Missing Hero AU by @sillysonata

Synopsis: Once upon a time, there existed a kingdom that foretold of a princess with the powers of a goddess and a hero wielding the Master Sword one day rising up to defeat a great demise that threatened to wipe out the world.. ..Though the Princess Zelda grew strong, the Master Sword still stood in its pedestal, and for 19 years, no one could take it out. As the kingdom began to lose hope in a hero ever rising, the bitter princess began to work twice as hard, putting the pressure on herself to protect her people when the great demise came. If only they knew the hero was not gone… but was instead scrubbing the floors of a grand estate, dreaming of the day he could go out and explore the world as any other creature was free to, instead of being Link; a servant to the powerful and elitist Lord Ganondorf.

With the first panel I immediately thought - Cinderella. I’m not sure if that’s what sillysonata is going for but this Link fits the bill. Beautiful art and an interesting concept. Ganon kidnaps the Hero as a baby and turns him into a lowly servant with no self-esteem. Zelda is a beautiful princess who fears there’s no hope for Hyrule when the Hero never appears and attempts to be both heroine and hero. The gorgeous colors and character designs are enchanting. I look forward to seeing more of this story unfold. - Mistress Lrigtar

This project is still just starting out, but its already such a gem! The premise is that the hero is missing, for a reason immediately revealed to the reader but unknown to anyone in Hyrule (except the responsible party): Ganon found him as a child and raised him as a devoted, abused and hapless servant. The art is gorgeously distinctive, and Link is such a dear little thing, you just want to rescue him. Can’t wait to see more! - Karama9

Reminders for fanfic writers who think it “doesn’t count”

✦ Your writing counts. like, a lot. If someone felt something because of what you wrote, then it matters. That scene you almost didn’t post? Yeah. Believe me, someone out there bookmarked it for a reason.

✦ Writing existing characters doesn’t make it “less than.” You’re building arcs, crafting dialogue, emotion, pacing. You’re studying character psychology like a scientist. That’s not “just fanfic,” that’s storytelling.

✦ “but it’s just fanfic” ...no. STOP, it’s craft. It’s understanding tone. It’s hitting emotional beats. It’s layering theme and backstory and prose into something people feel. You’re doing the work, you just don’t get graded on it. (Which, honestly is a blessing.)

✦ Writing fanfic means you love stories enough to live inside them. You care, deeply. You care enough to reimagine, to explore, to add something of yourself to a world you didn’t create and somehow still make it feel brand new.

✦ Someone out there rereads your fic like it’s their favorite book. Maybe they’ve saved a line to their notes app,or they quote it to a friend. Maybe they just think about it when they’re having a bad day. That little fic you almost deleted, it’s comfort now.

✦ Your comments section is real. Every “I needed this” and “this made me cry in a good way” is proof, you don’t need a book deal to matter. You don’t need a publisher to have an impact, because you already do.

FANFIC IS WRITING! Fanfic is yours.

You’re not “just” anything. You’re a writer, own it. Be proud of that.
