So I finally crossed off a long-held fanart goal of mine – to draw a Harlequin romance cover xD. It was a pleasure to collab with Tsumi (again) and Bette Noire for the first time. Her Big Bang NOVEL (because calling it fanfic doesn’t do it justice) was a privilege to read, and I only wish I had enough time to complete more illustrations for it.

Art for The Scottish Boy by Bette Noire (Stucky Medieval AU, 120k) The year is 1333. The English are at war with Scotland. 19-year-old West Country knight Sir Steven excels at jousting, but yearns to prove himself in real action. So he jumps when his sponsor, Baron Alexander Pierce, invites him on a secret mission with a dozen elite knights. They ride north to a crumbling Scottish keep, capturing the feral, half-starved boy within and putting the other inhabitants to the sword. And nobody knows, or nobody is saying, why the flower of English knighthood snuck over the border to capture a savage, dirty teenage boy. Pierce gives the boy to Steve as his squire, with only two rules: don’t let the boy escape, and convert him to the English cause.

For Someone I Love. Forever.

Hi all.

I'm posting here and I don't expect anything of y'all but I'm doing it for my grandmother.

My grandmother passed July 2nd. She lost the battle with cancer and I spent the two months previous as her caretaker every weekend. In the hospital, at home, and again, at the hospital.

I've been grieving and I've not been in a place to discuss it much. I'll keep it brief. My grandma was like my second mother. She raised me as much if not more than my parents. I love her and I lost a piece of myself with her. That's all I can say without breaking down.

That being said. If you can, only if you can, please keep Emily's spirit alive and donate to provide new furniture for the palliative room in her local hospital.

I love you all. Thanks for being my distraction during this incredibly difficult time.

My friend from college (she's written for the New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle!) interviewed me for her newsletter, The Scumbler:

"Check, Please! started in my screenwriting class, senior year. We were supposed to write the first 15 pages of a screenplay. I had this very strange case of senioritis — and this happens every time I’m at the end of my time at an institution — where I only wanted to work on one thing and didn’t care about anything else. In this case, I stopped doing everything for my other classes. I got B’s in classes that I could have easily gotten A’s in. I was like, “I’m going to write a whole screenplay.” I went insane. I interviewed hockey players. I interviewed the hockey beat reporter for the Yale Daily News. I watched documentaries. Read ethnographies. I went to a lot of hockey games."

None of yall are the fic police. I DESPISE genai. I think its an insult to art, humanity, and the planet itself. But aint not a single fucking person here qualified to pick apart a strangers fic looking for a gotcha moment to make yourselves feel superior. If you think something is ai you can ask the author (most are proud of the ai use and will just tell you straight up) if they say yes you have your answer and can warn people. If they say no and you dont believe them you block and quietly keep it between you and maybe a close group of friends. Spreading misinformation is DANGEROUS. And NONE of you doing this shit are anywhere near qualified to do it.
