I love incorrect quotes about my Beloved Richette but I do think that the writers of the show purposefully characterized Annette a certain way because of the stereotype she is inevitably doomed to face. It doesn’t make sense to write an incorrect quote where she is aggressive, violent or even uninterested in Richter. She was a very soft and kind character (I would even say she should be described as petite) and expressed her attraction towards Richter pretty openly. Anything concerning Annette should be written with the understanding that she is a black woman. I have seen posts about her that characterize her as the stereotype of the “angry black woman” and I have seen posts about her wishing harm upon Richter (which is absolutely preposterous because she would never wish harm upon ANYONE??? Let alone her husband???). It’s incredibly disgusting and disappointing to see that people still do these things in 2025. I don’t care if it’s supposed to be humorous, because it’s not funny (it doesn’t even make any sense for their relationship🤨).

Like this scene wasn’t enough to convince some that she was enamoured by him?? He was her anchor and the reason she was able to fight when she barely had any strength left while in the spirit world.

This happens so often that dark skinned black women are not seen as soft because of their skin colour even though their actions prove otherwise. There is no reason for people to doubt her attraction to Richter because they literally had one fight. Which they resolved in two episodes and had a deep conversation of why she was disappointed in him.

I hate to be that person😭 but as a Haitian i’ve heard the term “ti chéri” which means sweetheart but im not sure about the “ti chouchou”. I know “Chouchou” is a french term, but i’ve never heard any other Haitian saying it. It’s still cute i’m just not sure about the accuracy.

(Because we’re not mentioned much in western media, I’m very particular about the information spread about us and our culture, sorry if that came off rude)

I learned that “ti chouchou” is a Haitian term of endearment that means “sweetheart.”Now I can’t stop thinking about Annette cradling her baby and gently crooning, “good morning, ti chouchou.” It makes my heart all soft 😭
