Living Typography

Concerned about the sharp decline of House Sparrows, due to the lack of nesting places offer by modern buildings, Nishant Jethi of Mumbia has created this inspired alphabet of bird houses.

The hollow letters and numbers are constructed from wood, complete with little perches, and then varnished. I particularly like the creative positioning of the entrance holes especially on the ‘N’ and ‘K’. They were sent in to friends and family in batches, so that they could create nameplates or house numbers, while providing critical breeding places for what Nishant refers to as ”the ultimate groupie to humankind”.
