“Who wrote Tri, Hikari-chan!? Who!? I just wanna talk to them!”

“E-eh..” Hikari’s face dropped so hard. So the urgent matter wasn’t that urgent after all, and here she was thinking she was in danger. “I- I kinda can, do you know what time it is, Miyako?” the short haired girl asked but couldn’t help and laugh softly at her bored friend. “What kind of adventure are you talking about exactly?”

“What do you mean? It’s only 11:00!” Miyako knew it was late, but she couldn’t sleep and she wasn’t just going to admit that to Hikari. She smiled at the question and sat up in bed, hugging a pillow to her chest.

“I’ll show you if you meet me out in front of I-Mart in 15 minutes!”

“YES. I don’t freakin’ care about it anymore! I’m so done! Taichi-san can handle ANYTHING alone. He didn’t need me– us this time. They already fixed it! For us! There’s nothing left, a crisis had been solved and look at us now! I have to cope with it, and also have to take physiotherapy sessions to learn how to walk and be functional again!”

“Does they EVEN care ‘bout us?! Why did they take so much time to rescue us?! I guess Ken’s right, they didn’t notice we were missing. But oh boi, I wanted Ken to be wrong. I wanted SO MUCH Ken to shut the hell up and stop being pessimist. Ken was right, Miyako. And now he has to deal with crimes he hadn’t committed because of that freakin’ copycat!”

He finished. Daisuke was panting and staring at Miyako like if she were his enemy. He didn’t want to put the blame on her, and he preferred to just blame himself for everything. He was heartbroken, disillusioned and mad. The Chosen Children had always been Daisuke’s friends, but now with all that mess he was pretty sure that changed. He was believing in the idea they didn’t care at all.

That they were abandoned.

“… I didn’t want to yell at you.”

He said with a quiet voice.

“Just… Leave me alone.”  

She stared at him in surprise while he yelled at her. It wasn’t like Daisuke to be this negative, but maybe Miyako was just being too optimistic. Hikari and her were Jogress partners, at the very least she wanted to believe in the bond they shared.

There was no way their friends didn’t notice they were missing...right?

“Right, because they did such a good job of fixing things on their own!” Miyako responded sarcastically as soon as Daisuke was done. “Meicoomon is dead, the Digital World is rebooted, and Taichi-san, Hikari-chan, and Takeru-kun all have this almost lifeless look in their eyes whenever I talk to them! But yeah, sure, they handled things just fine.”

“Look Daisuke, you can think what you want but I know there’s no way they’d abandon us! They needed us and we were too weak to help! If you wanna give up then fine, we’ll find someone else to lead us because I for one am not giving up until I find Hawkmon!”

Hikari was laying on her bed, playing with her phone when she suddenly received a message from her friend. She immediately sat up and dialed her number.

“Miyako, is everything alright?”

“No, everything’s not alright!”

“I’m bored, Hikari-chan!” Miyako dramatically flops onto her bed, as if Hikari could see her. “I was gonna drag Iori and Takeru-kun out on an adventure but they aren’t texting me back! I think they both went to bed already! Can you believe them!?”

“Yeah we lost, so what? It’s ALL MY FAULT and I know it so thank you for ruining my mood while I was coping with that. I’m glad it’s over and I’m alive rather than dead and a hero. I have a dream to make true, I have friends who care about me and would’ve lost their way if I had gone.”

“Taichi-san and his group are pretty strong to stop enemies by themselves. They saved the world without us ONCE, so why not again? I wanted to be a hero, but if I knew I’d have been dead in the process, I should’ve never gotten that digivice in the first place!”

“That’s not what I meant, Daisuke!”

“We lost! Us! Together as a team! You might have led us into that mess but we lost because all of us were too weak, so stop trying to pin the blame on yourself alone!”

“And are you really okay with that!? Letting Taichi-san’s group handle everything!? We’re Chosen Children too, that means we need to be strong enough to help them! We can’t let something like that happen again, we have to fix our mistakes and get stronger or someday the whole world could be destroyed, and that includes your dumb dream!”
