He looked at his friend with a sad expression. He wanted to talk about it but at the same time, he didn't want to be the one to bring everyone else down. "Oh you know, when the queue is too long for the bathroom so God decides to shit on your shoulders." He forced a laugh, bottom lip quivering a little. He was trying to make a joke out of it.

"My uh...my Mom's...not doing too good." He crossed his arms. Not that that was a surprise, after all she'd been sick since he was 8 and getting worse. Falling, weight loss, frailty, headaches, constant pain. Things were fine when his dad was alive o help take care of her, but Chris has been on his own since he was 14. Not a good childhood, but he loved his mom. She was one of the sweetest women and now...

"Doc's say she might need to stay in the hospital for a few months so they can watch her. She doesn't want to do that, you know how she is." He chuckled dryly. She always liked Josh. She liked the movie reference and pushed for Chris to invite him over and play board games, or help with new jigsaw puzzles. It was her way of connecting with them, like she wold her own kid. It just...hurt thinking this could be the last time out of the hospital.
