big ol gathering of birds i saw on my walk

ducks, seagulls, canada geese, and one big handsome cormorant

the teenage ducklings were so funny. there was a group of 5 plus mom hanging around near the shore. they'd move in very close to me and then shy away, like they weren't sure if they were supposed to be scared of me or not. big kids with their adult feathers almost all grown in but still learning how to be ducks

recent news on the bugs & spiders in my apartment, in no particular order [+ photos at the end]

been seeing a lot of isopods; mostly sowbugs but at least one pillbug too! they wander around and eat crumbs and get eaten by spiders. chill little dudes, i love them

saw a click beetle yesterday!!!! never seen one before. big guy, looked a bit lost, wish i'd been able to relocate him outside before he disappeared under the washing machine

been seeing multiple barn funnel weavers! they're all roughly the same size and i'm pretty confident that they're all barn funnel weavers, and i never see more than one at a time but i can tell i have at least 3 separate individuals because each is missing a different leg. ive also seen one or two with all 8 legs, but it's entirely possible that i was seeing one or two of the 7-leggers before they lost their leg

gave some water via qtip to a thirsty two-spotted cobweb spider. he'd been hanging around the same spot in my bedroom for a while. i didn't know what species he was, took a while to identify him, but i did notice the distinctive pair of spots so it was very funny when i finally found out what he was & what the common name of his species is

saw some kind of spider wasp (couldn't identify specific species). figures a spider-killer would find its way into my spider-filled home. circle of life. not like it's the first spider-killer ive seen in here anyway (also seen house centipedes, and spiders that eat other spiders)

saw another mama cellar spider with an egg sac, but she disappeared after a couple days. maybe she decided to move her babies somewhere else, maybe she got eaten. who knows
