allured!chris... finds a necklace on the boat with him and returns home to a bunch of worried family members.

Chris stirred awake, his head feeling full and heavy like when you sleep too much on a hot summer day. He blinked slowly and sat up and just stared at the water for a few seconds, no thought inside his head whatsoever, before shifting on the boat.

He yawned and stretched, then froze.

What the actual fuck is he doing? He’s still on the boat on a goddamn lake for fucks sake! Why is he acting as if this is a normal everyday occurrence?

Chris’s mind blurred with questions before panic rose and he quickly checked his phone. "Oh, fuck." He groaned, seeing one too many notifications from his parents and Nick and Matt, hell, even his older brother called.

He pocketed his phone again and took the paddles, about to paddle back to shore, but stopped when he saw something glinting in the rays of the sun peeking through the heavy clouds.

It was a necklace—or well, something that resembled a necklace. It had a miniature glass bottle with an unidentifiable clear liquid as its pendant. The cord seemed to be made with something aquatic, but Chris couldn’t quite identify what it was.

He examined the necklace, confused. Where did this come from? He thought to himself, shaking the bottle slightly, watching the liquid slosh inside it.

His phone suddenly rang, buzzing relentlessly in his pants, and he quickly stuffed the necklace into his pocket, fishing out his phone from the other one. He sighed when he saw Matt’s name flash across his phone screen and took the call.

"Matt-" "Don’t "Matt" me. Where the fuck are you? Do you even know how worried mom was? At least tell us beforehand if you’re not coming home."

Chris winced at the anger in Matt’s voice. Matt usually never got this angry at Chris. Sure, he and Chris fought a lot but it was always just sibling banter. But right now? He sounded genuinely pissed.

"I’m coming home right now okay? And I’ll explain it to you when I get there. Just tell mom and dad I’m alright." Chris said, trying to calm Matt down.

Matt scoffed, purposely loud and annoyed, before muttering quietly. "Yeah... just come home quickly. Mom and Dad’s been worried sick." His tone was a tad bit softer now.

Chris smiled and put his phone back in his pocket, knowing Matt was just worried, and began paddling back to shore, enjoying the slight chill in the air.

When he reached home and walked inside the living room he was met with the sight of his whole family on the couch. His parents sat with Trevor on his mom’s lap, his older brother Justin was there too, having come home last night. Nick sat on the armchair, while Matt followed Chris into the living room since he was the one to open the front door.

After explaining what happened and a couple of disbelieving looks later, Chris finally went up to his room to rest, completely forgetting about the necklace as he stripped off his clothes and changed into something more comfortable.

Meanwhile at the lake, you resurfaced from the water, looking up at the surprisingly starry sky. You just want him to understand what you went through. But will Chris ever understand? His past selves never did. So will this Chris understand the pain his past selves caused you?

"I hope you’re not like the rest." You whispered to yourself, your eyes glowing otherworldly as you sank back into your home—the murky lake.

allured!chris... finally meets the girl in his dreams and flashbacks, but she’s not human—rather something he believed only existed in fairytales and myths.

Chris walked towards the lake with quick steps. He tried so hard to go by his day today, having succeeded yesterday, but today he just didn’t have the self-control to stray far from the alluring waters. And this time he brought a small blanket to put under himself on the boat.

He paddled down the same path, the one he was so used to even though he’d never gone through it before arriving back home in Somerville for his 23rd bday.

Chris stopped paddling once he reached the same place he was last time, letting the boat slide across the water on its own until it stopped with a subtle creak. He looked around and listened to the gentle breeze brushing through the trees surrounding him.

There weren’t any other sounds except that and the occasional hoots of owls and other nocturnal animals. He almost gave up after waiting for any movement in the water.

Suddenly there was a soft melody, slightly muffled as if it came from underneath the lake. It sounded like a woman’s voice, singing an alluring tune. Her voice was soft, smooth, and angelic. He could listen to her for hours on end.

It was beautiful... So beautiful.

"Chris..."

Chris’s eyes widened and he instinctively pulled back, realizing just how close he was to falling into the lake. A shiver ran down his spine. He had been so captivated by the melody that he didn’t notice himself leaning to the edge of the boat. If the voice didn’t call out his name he would’ve flipped the boat—

Wait. What?

Chris looked around quickly, only seeing vague outlines of drooping trees and shadows that morphed with the wind. Water surrounded him so it couldn’t have been another person, let alone someone who knew his name.

Unless... It wasn’t a person.

It didn’t help that tonight the moon seemed dimmer than usual and fog coated the surface of the lake, making it all the more ominous.

Then, he saw it, in the corner of his eye, a head submerging from the water, skin glowing a pale blue in the faint moonlight. Chris swore he felt his heart jump in his chest. What the fuck is that? That cannot be human.

Every nerve in his body told him to get away as fast as he could but he was stuck in place on the boat, his eyes glued on the girl.

"You’re finally here... I missed you." The girl spoke, but her tone was flat, sarcasm oozing from every syllable.

Chris didn’t say anything. He couldn’t. He wanted to though. He wanted to ask what the fuck was going on, who she was, and why and how the fuck she was underwater. God, he had so many questions, but everything got stuck in his throat.

"You must be confused." The girl said as she moved towards the boat in an inhuman way—like she wasn’t swimming but drifting...? It was hard to explain.

When the girl reached the boat, she put her hands on the edge of the boat, looking up at him with those captivating eyes. Fuck, she looked ethereal.

"Don’t worry, you’ll understand soon... Just sleep now."

And as if hypnotized, Chris felt his eyes slowly close, his mind shutting off, as he slumped forward. The girl watched with a subtle smile, her hand reaching out to push his hair back but stopped midair, hesitating.

She sighed and pulled her hand back before taking off the necklace around her neck. She placed the necklace on the boat beside Chris’s head and then disappeared back into the water, leaving the brunette boy in deep sleep—although plagued with the same dream.
