Blog .•°7°•.
27/4/18
It feels like things are starting to fall into place. My accountant is setting up a business entity/company structure and also spoke to a patent attorney today, going in for a meeting next week to get information about whether applying for a design patent or standard patent would be the best option.
My good friend Mark that I asked to make a 3D drawing of the product, should have a 100% finished drawing tonight or tomorrow. So if I get the opportunity to this weekend, I want to get a final prototype printed out. A friend I made at a networking event that I have helped out on a project he's been working on for some time now, actually has a 3D printer and said that I can use it 😎😍 10/10
I really do hope this blog shows how much little (massive) stuff goes on behind the scenes and it's not just luck and coasting along that gets you to where you want to be! It's doing the ONE thing at any given time that will get you closer to your goal. Many times over the last week I do my usual "what am I going to say on the phone? what of he says this? what if he doesn't answer?" Anyone else do that or is it just me?! Anyways. I snap myself out of it as quick as I can and just press 'Call' and figure out the rest when they answer.. Seems to have worked dam well so far 😎 STOP OVERTHINKING SHIT AND JUST 'DO'!
Rant over 👊 💯🔥
I'm tired and going to sleep now! 😴😴

Blog {6} WOnDERLaND
I apologize for any mistakes or this blog not making sense, Im writing it while walking around the city. We went to the Wonderland exhibition today and it was really amazing! And I also got wind of riddles to do with the exhibition so I went full obsessed until I figured them out (which I did, looove riddles) 😎
The last few days have been super productive and Im so hyped about it, On Friday I emailed a TM attorney and was forwarded onto a Patent attorney who I will hear back from on Monday. In the email I pitched him my idea (100% confidential) and got a really positive response
"For what it’s worth we would buy these- we have the ones you are looking at replacing and I hate them…they don’t work..!"
Also as I speak I had a friend from Adelaide making a final 3D drawing so I can get a final prototype made. (Only took him an hour unlike my many days haha that's why he's the expert) So hopefully can get a prototype 3D printed in the next few weeks to take to pitch meetings!

Since my last post I felt like I’ve hit a wall but I guess that’s just because after the meetings with the accountant and Johns boss last week, There have been a few snags. AutoCad crapped out losing my 3D drawing, and I need it to present to the patent attorney, and feel like every day I’m not doing something productive towards my goal I’m going backwards, but I’m sure that’s just me being extra critical with myself 👍
On a lighter note, Jay got some amazing feedback last night about the email pitch we sent to Paul Neighbour last week. So I need to push myself to get this product patented ASAP!
One of the directions we were looking at going, I have second guessed and will only go down that road on one condition.
I had the thought, if we license the product to distributors we are not solving the problem I was originally trying to fix. Yes, the product could potentially be put into new homes, but anyone that wants to actually purchase them for their own house will struggle to order them from distributors. (It’s a gosh darn nightmare) If we go down the licensing to distributors path, I want consumers to still be able to purchase the product from us.
Before starting this blog post I was feeling a bit disheartened but now I’m feeling pumped again. *high five*
Every day I’m so thankful to have Jay in my life! I can’t thank her enough for all her support, she is my muse and keeps me going! Love you Jay ❤️

Blog #4 Networking (13/4/18)
Download the meetup app now!
There are groups and meetups specifically for networking and meeting people in similar situations. If you can't find one, create one. There is most definitely others out there wanting the same thing. It's just about stepping out of your comfort zone and putting yourself out there.
The first networking event I went to was pretty amazing, I met an Angel Investor who passed on alot of helpful info about R+D tax incentives for business start ups that aren't making a profit yet. Once you have a business structure set up, any money spent on materials, prototypes etc you can claim back 47% (don't quote me on that % exactly, give or take a few %)
I also met a UX Designer that is working on Automated Drone landing pads for large properties, the drones go out surveying the property to locate livestock. He asked me for help with the design and a problem they had, so I went out to their warehouse a handful of times to help without expecting anything in return.
When networking you have to ask what you can do for someone else. You have to bring them value and just be a decent human being.

Blog ep3 (13/4/18) _stylewithkathrynrose_
So Jay and I are quite excited that we have some fellow Adelaidians moving over to Melbourne! Kat and Erin 😄
I have known Erin since school and she is one of my closest friends and I am so happy that she found someone as amazing as Kat.
Since Kat has been over here I have been trying to help motivate and grow her fashion styling / personal brand. I have been learning about social media marketing and with Kat wanting to do a giveaway for 3 free styling sessions, I suggested trying to promote the post and targeting a select audience. My theory for this was that because her following was not huge but still growing, it would be able to get her out there to an audience that otherwise would never have seen it. Once the promotion went live that night. After only a few days she already had 4 people contact her wanting to work with her (all from the promoted post) 🔥 She is super passionate about this industry and also the ability and opportunity to help people on a deeper scale.
I am really excited with what she is doing and wishing her a successful journey.
And if you're like me and need all the help you can get with fashion, check her out on insta (username in the heading ⬆⬆⬆)

Blog vol2 (12/4/18) -JAY-
It's been a week or so since my last blog post, I have been video documenting a little bit as well.
Jay started her new position as Store Manager this week and within only 2 days her Regional Manager called her absolutely ecstatic about how she has improved the store in such a short time. (I never doubted her for a second) 😋
We sat down Tuesday night and planned on revamping the businesses pitch to sign people up to their loyalty program, as this store in particular struggled with getting customers to sign up. The original pitch focused emphasized that you save 15% on selected items. Now after asking Jay some questions aboit the demographic, area and clientele that shop at the store, I almost immediately told her she needs to drop the 15% off from the pitch and here is why, the clientele that frequent the store generally have an abundance of money and saving a small amount on select items would not appeal to them. Instead you need to emphasise on other points that essentially save them 'time' and make them feel important. (Deep down, people love to feel important)
I told Jay that she needs to treat every client (customer) that comes in with a more exclusive demeanor, introducing herself by name (Jay) and as the new store manager and that if they ever need any help to personally ask for her and she will look after them.
She put these new found outlooks into effect and after one day the amount of new sign ups to their loyalty program sky rocketed and she even turned an unhappy customer into an ecstatic customer. I have a nickname for Jay but she has been reluctant to accept it, The Golden Goose! Every store she has been put into has grown exponentially and all the staff under her respect and adore her. You go girl.

First day of the rest of our life 27/3/18
To those of you that don't know who I am, my name is Chris Wilton. My parnter Jaydene and I moved to Melbourne from Adelaide a few years ago to "chase our dreams" and by that I mean, work had been slowing down in Adelaide and I couldn't see myself getting anywhere living there. So put my feelers out and came across a job as a mechanical engineer here in Melbourne, i drove 10 hours for a meeting and to look for a house. First open house I went to I got 😎.. within 2 weeks I was living in Melbourne (big shock to the system)
My partner got a transfer a few weeks after, but before she arrived I "accidentally" adopted a gorgeous husky named Bandit! We went through the motions for the next couple years thriving in our new environment and had some absolutely amazing times (including adopting another white husky named Blizzard on Christmas eve)
So that brings us to now..
I have some innovative inventions and ideas that I came up with over the years but didn't know how to get them going. So with the support of my amazing partner and soul mate I strived to get knowledge and learn, learn, learn. I started with a few online courses such as business foundations, marketing strategies and even ip law.. Now I'm not in any sense saying that I'm an expert on these subjects, but i now at least have a better understanding of them. I am constantly reading and listening to audiobooks (total listening time so far is 135 hours and 46 mins) and watching influencers on youtube/facebook/instagram/twitter (you get the idea). I've also been attending networking events to expand my network and meet new people (loving it) people are awesome!
The whole reason I wanted to start documenting this process is to show how much effort and time Jay and I are putting into our new direction and life.
Jaydene also found out today that she is now the new Store Manager of the Hawksburn store (she's such a hustler and am incredibly proud of her) she is my main motivation to be a better person and i want to provide for my family.
Luke whos a good friend has been working on a website the last month or so and i can never thank him enough (he also helped us move house from Knoxfield to Rowville) Luke is a web designer and offered to help design and code a website from scratch (what a legend right)
Last week I caught up with another friend, John, for dinner in the city. I wanted info on business loans to help fund my business venture, but what I got in return was a bombardment of helpful information, tips and even teed up meeting with some hefty contacts and i also sensed a hint of excitement. From that meeting I knew I wanted him on my side, so I asked if he wanted to be a part of it. He was thrilled 👍
I'm still working fulltime as a service engineer in the CBD but laying the foundations of my business/personal brand so I can eventually do it fulltime.
(Writing this while on my way to the city for work)
Till next time friends
Chris
