Gangle sniffs as if she's just finished crying - which is hard to do when you have a mask for a face, but somehow... she always seems to manage it just fine.

"...That's what normally happens..." she replies, holding the fragments of her broken comedy mask gingerly in her ribbons. Why is everyone always so mean to her...? Well, actually, it's mostly just Jax... but sometimes it feels like everyone's gotten so used to her suffering that they don't really notice it anymore. Of course, that's probably Gangle's own fault... if she wasn't like this...

She sniffs again, knowing how pitiful she must look, but unable to bring herself to do anything about it.

"It's okay... at least it's over now..." she continues. Then, after a slight hesitation, she looks up at Coco, and adds tentatively-

"You got pretty hurt too... are you okay?"

“ I feel beaten like an egg, that banquet was hardly worth that much trouble... ” it would be an understatement to say the mime was left tuckered out after today's adventure. he still cannot quite wrap his head around how aches && pains are still a thing with a digital body, seems downright unfair to be left feeling like she crawled out of a taffy puller until the sensations decide to finally fade.

he looked the part too. proudly maintained fur && fluffy hair was now left a tangled, frazzled mess that they were currently trying to tame during the walk down the room hall. “ what say you, mon ami ? ” a glance is thrown Gangle's way. though it's quickly interrupted by a grimace when the invisible brush they had whipped out passes a nasty tangle that causes the bristles to snap && pop loudly. the expression quickly fades with a sigh.

“ do not take this the wrong way, but I have seen ribbon wands with toddlers be treated more gently than the way you got tossed around today... ”

Well, now Pomni feels even more guilty. She's not sure if she'd have preferred Ragatha to be angry or not, but the way she forgives her so easily makes Pomni want to hide her face in shame. She left behind such a good-hearted person so easily... and even now, she's still making excuses for it...

"Oh... uh, don't worry about it!" she replies, wishing that she could just get over this horrible awkwardness.

"It's not like it's your fault. And..." Pomni pauses for a moment. Truth be told, she wants to make things up to Ragatha a little, even if everything she does feel pointless right now in the face of being, well. Trapped forever and all...

"You were trying to help me calm down earlier, weren't you? I, uh, appreciate it! You seem like a good person, and... yeah."

Too bad you're stuck in a digital hell and all, Pomni thinks, but she forces a smile. Though truth be told, Ragatha's efforts haven't particularly helped at all, but hey - points for trying.

...God, is there really no getting out of here? Pomni's smile drops off her face as the reality of her situation hits her once again. She knows she has to find something to cling onto, some kind of hope, so she doesn't end up like- like that thing from before, but... is life even worth living in a place like this?

“ oh— pomni ! ”

the little jester seeking her out first was slightly unexpected, especially with the awkward tension underlying all their interactions since that first disastrous day.. ragatha’s spent many moments since then mentally berating herself for letting it unravel the way it did — even though, logically, she knows there is no way she could’ve stopped or even changed things. that won’t stop her from blaming herself.

.. back to the present, however — pomni’s awkward little mannerisms indicate to the rag doll that there is a purpose to this interaction; and so, she’s patient, watching her with an encouraging expression as she eventually gets the words out. when she does, her features shift into something softer.

“ ah.. really, it’s okay. ”

although ragatha has a habit of saying things she doesn’t mean if it means keeping the peace, these words are genuine.

“ you were scared, uncertain.. it was a lot. anyone in your position would’ve done the same. i don’t hold it against you, and.. i’m glad you’re okay, too! i'm sorry it wasn't a great first day, aha.. ”

"Oh... Ragatha... ahaha, fancy seeing you here..."

Pomni fumbles on her words as she greets the rag doll - the human, really, though it's sometimes hard to remember - before her. What is she supposed to say? She's been dreading talking to her one-on-one like this, though to be fair, there isn't much that she hasn't been dreading, lately.

It feels like she's constantly on the verge of snapping, her chest feeling tight and a phantom nausea overtaking her senses - which for the record, doesn't even make sense, since she isn't in a human body anymore! She doesn't know if she wants to cry or scream or what, but every moment is a struggle not to fall apart - there will be a way out, she tells herself, even though she knows she's lying, because if she gives up, then...

...Well. Back to the matter at hand...!!

"You know, I just wanted to say, ah..." she can't seem to get out the words. She has to apologize, she knows that, and she does feel guilty, it's just... well, no-one can blame Pomni for trying to get out of here, right? That exit door might've been her only chance, and, and...!

"I'm... really sorry, about before. You know, when I, uh. Left you. Again." Great, it sounds even worse when she says it aloud. "I didn't mean to... I mean, I'm just- really glad you're okay!"

If this is any comfort many muses for this show r heavily headcanoned i have seen! personally i adore seeing everyones special takes no matter the range of divergency and im v excited to see what a talented writer like you has in store

And yeah, they have to be heavily headcanoned at the moment since we know so little about them canonically right now - I suppose my main worry is how I'm going to adjust things here as we learn more about the characters over time?? but i don't know if that's entirely it... sometimes my brain is just Weird about things for no reason, haha.

just as a quick note, though - i'm honestly not used to writing characters from ongoing series where we know so little about them, so this is a first for me! i'm not sure how i'm going to handle backstories yet, so for now i might be using an au where the characters have forgotten all of their lives before the circus, not just their names. but if anyone wants something different or if that doesn't jive with your portrayal, i'll be happy to adjust as needed!
