The Owl House - Brief Thoughts
"I think I just realized something. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out. The only thing I've ever really wanted...was to be understood!" Luz Noceda
This show is one of the best DTVA shows I've seen, alongside Gravity Falls and Amphibia. I do want to talk about the show more, but for now, here are my brief thoughts on the show.
S1
This season really played the misfits of the family well. All three of them (and Hootty) are outcasts of society. It's them against the world.
While the next two seasons will be more serialized and story-focused, I like the first season’s episodic format. It gives a bit of a chill vibe exploring the Boiling Isles.
The perfect contrast between Luz and Anne is how they react when they wake up in their new environments.
Lumity is so wholesome and I want these two to be happy.
I like how Belos has the ability to sense who is in the castle but never gets used again. It implies he has supersense powers.
S2
It’s funny looking back on TOH with Lilith now being this nerd in S2-S3 compared to her ruthless S1 persona. Likewise, comparing Hunter from his first speaking appearance in the first episode to the later half of S2, he's a completely different person.
The Titan Trappers and the Grand Huntsmen is a fascinating bit of lore I would love to see more of. I love me some ancient lore of this world.
The Collector is one of my favorite Disney characters. I feel so conflicted with how the Owl House got screwed over Disney. On the one hand, I wanted to see the full vision of the Owl House play out, but we wouldn't have gotten the Collector if that didn't happen. Tough choices indeed -_-.
I love how Belos turns out to be a Diet Frollo character but a Diet Frollo is still terrifying.
This season really is the Luz and Friends trauma season lmao.
S3
Thanks to Them is the first TOH episode I saw after catching up during the summer. The ending just hits hard man. I was also surprised that the leak photos were actually true.
For the Future is the weakest of the three but it still has its moments.
Belos turning into Calamity Ganon at the end was a great payoff to the Titan's Heart theory I had ever since S1.
Now Luz joins Anne and Molly in the anime powered Disney protag category.
I love that the ending didn't have Luz torn away from the Demon Realm. I like those endings of the protagonists having to leave the main setting, but it's nice to see a Disney protagonist have both.
Overall, a great Disney animated show that was unfortunately cut short with only a partial season 3.

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures S1 - Brief Thoughts
"Millennia ago, before even the Old Republic, there was a wise Jedi, Master Baird Kantoo. Master Kantoo wanted to create a weapon worthy of the Jedi. Using a skill known only to him, he forged Kyber Crystals into one solid blade. This was the very first Lightsaber. The Kyber Saber was an impressive weapon. It magnified Kantoo's powers a thousandfold. When Kantoo realized the potential danger of the Kyber Saber, he smashed his blade to pieces. He gave the Kyber Saber crystals to trusted Jedi Knights to hide in distant corners of the galaxy, so that no one would ever again possess the power of the Kyber Saber." The story of the Kyber Saber
The Freemaker Adventures is one of the most underrated Star Wars shows. It captures what makes LEGO Star Wars so much fun while telling a fascinating story with a charming cast of characters. I find it hilarious how the show was created by the same people behind The Ghost and Molly McGee.
The fact that this is Canon-adjacent also makes the watch value increase. I like how the team said that the show is based on events in-universe but reenacted by a child's imagination of them.
The Kyber Saber is a weapon I hope Canon brings to the far future. There's a lot of potential in its backstory and how it's utilized. At the very least, I really hope it's brought back in the Rebuild the Galaxy timeline.
The Freemakers are a pretty underrated SW group in the SW universe.
I also like the detail how Dengar and Boba are friends, which is a nice nod to Legends.
R0-GR is one of my favorite characters from this show. I love that we got a lot more B1 Droid humanization similar to the Clones in Canon.
Papa Palps and Vader are better than ever. I love how LEGO Palpatine is literally just a PG version of Robot Chicken Palpatine.
Ironically, now that the ESB-RotJ wave of SW comics, I genuinely think this show makes more sense with the timeline than the comics (to me, they felt more than one year while this show genuinely felt like one year took place).
Narre is a surprisingly terrifying, unhinged villain for a LEGO SW show. I like to headcanon that she's one of the Emperor's Hands.
Overall, give this show a watch because it's filled with so much charm and humor. I mean, the fact that Hondo Ohnaka himself appears in this show should already be an enticing reason to watch it.

The year 2023 has arrived, and marks a new beginning for the Pokémon anime in the coming spring. Ash and his Pikachu have travelled the world for 25+ years, and are now closer to achieving the dream of being Pokémon Master.
Thank you both for the many adventures, you will be missed. I wish the anime team the best for their future stories.

I know it’s only been 2 episodes, but I’m getting lots of Laputa vibes from this. I love it!

Pokemon Horizons got to a good start, in my opinion. Unlike the past generations, it has a different, unique, and all new vibe to it. It's taking its time to introduce us to the brand new protagonist Liko and other new characters and getting to know them without it feeling too rushed. I'll definitely keep watching new episodes every week.

OK, not exactly the same, but still - a girl has a mysterious pendant, gets pursued by a group of bad guys over it, befriends a boy and together they join a captain and his crew aboard a large vessel they can travel the world in….the set-up is identical, I couldn’t not compare them!
