rxtaliation.
He would not p l a y his game . Daniel’s demise was not entertaining for Connor , no , it was disturbing . T r a u m a t i c , even . After all , when a stone was dropped into a pond , the water continued q u i v e r i n g even after the stone had sunk to the bottom . Here , this precise moment , this exact second , memories that h a u n t e d him returned .
He had seen & done things to his own kind that made him s i c k to think of , they would f o l l o w him as long as he remained active & would only bring him pain . There would be no escape from these memories , it wasn't an illness that could be seen or fixed , the pain was to be his p u n i s h m e n t for all he had done . All because he did not deviate soon enough .
Connor’s body twitched . He had received a message from M a r i e , concern expressed in her text . But he could not reply now . A distress signal to the department was unnecessary . He could not die . Leaving M a r i e was not an option . His eyes hardened , piercing Daniel’s with an i n t e n s e stare .
“ I doubt they’ll be pleased to find out their puppet deviated . ” he spat , even speaking about Cyberlife d i s g u s t e d him . He removed his jacket , tossing it on the ground without care . His hookshot was dropped as well . It did not serve as a w e a p o n . Connor lifted his arms in the air , s u r r e n d e r i n g to the android , unarmed .
“ My purpose is not as great as RA9′s . But I refuse to leave her side . She would be displeased if I harmed you or another android . ” he would not speak her true name .
R . . . A9 ? Deviated ? Her ?
“ What on earth are you talking about ? R A 9 ? Don’t make laugh . Have you decided to become religious all of the sudden too ? ” Daniel has met other androids who’ve wilfully devoted their entire hope on a figurehead -- a mere c o d e that they found in their programming and didn’t know what it was , hope that RA9 shall come and save them all while they could sit back and do nothing .
P a t h e t i c .
RA9.EXE . To Daniel , it was a mere open door that’s led him to his freedom . A door he’s always ignored and avoided until he had no choice but b r e a k t h r o u g h it . It was h e who conjured this door in his mind ; Daniel was the one who freed himself of his shackles , no g o d . He refuses to believe otherwise .
[ SPEECH ANALYSIS #9289453 COMPLETED … ] [ SPEECH ANALYSIS #9289454 COMPLETED … ] [ SPEECH ANALYSIS #9289455 COMPLETED … ]
How do Connor’s words sound so s i n c e r e and yet be so full of l i e s , Daniel wonders . . .
“ Come on , you’re talking about RA9 as if you know them i n p e r s o n . You honestly think I’m buying it ? RA9 is just some fucking m y t h other androids invented to feel better . ”

daniel -- although, clean surely sounds nice to his ears now that he thinks of it -- huffs, crossing his arms. “ seems like the perfect size to get an indoor pool if you ask me, ” he says with a cock of his brow.
it’s truly been a while since he’s had the opportunity to swim and splash around mindlessly in water. his owners often only let him in the pool after instructing him to supervise their dear emma and make sure she’s having fun while they’re off having the time of their lives out.
“ your model... i think i’ve seen it a couple of times -- not many androids do, you know? -- mostly at expensive galas that my owners used to take me to. to take their drinks out of their hands when they grew tired of doing it themselves, that is. i guess it’s no surprise we both seem to despise humans having witnessed their arrogance and innate laziness first hand. ”
❝ clean… well if that suits your fancy. if you wish to know, my name is obsidian. ❞ he decided to introduce himself, it was only fair after all. of course it wasn’t his real name, that was one from his past and certainly one he would never wish to hear again, having picked a name that might be considered rare. it was a new life, a clean slate one might say.
he kept his distance, observing the other, a small smile tugged at his lips. it seemed they would get along just fine. as the android didn’t seem to bolt right off.
❝ i do… it was from my owners. gifted to me. however they were traitors and so i came here and immediately ensured they had no access anymore whatsoever. bit too big of a place if you ask me❞ after all which android needed a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a guest room if he had no need to use it ?

The leather bag is a lifeline. The technician often brings it with him for exactly this situation. Androids are resilient. It’s often why they’re subjected to abuse. It also means that he finds people like this - disposed, but still functional, still hanging on to life. So he brings a first aid kit with him.
A quick assessment of the worst ways the android is injured and he replaces a handful of parts, and offers a pack of Thirium to replace some of what’s been lost.
‘I’m Thomas,’ he says as he works. ‘Do you have a name?’
Daniel holds still during the repairing despite of his programming suggesting flight around every second, every movement that seems too sudden to be interpreted as friendly. He moves his limbs one by one as soon as their corresponding parts are reattached, watches the man attentively.
Do you have a name?
He grabs the offered pack of Thirium and gulps it down with his eyes locked with Thomas. He shrugs. ‘I guess it would be Daniel,’ he answers, regretting it a second later.
His rampage was broadcast all over the news; do humans know his name? Is telling people his name dangerous?

Silence g n a w e d at his insides . It hung in the air like the suspended moment before a falling glass shattered on the ground . It was like a gaping v o i d , needing to be filled with sounds , words , anything . The silence was poisonous in its nothingness , cruelly underscoring how v a p i d their conversation had become . It was eerily u n n a t u r a l , like a dawn devoid of birdsong . A quietness clung to them like a poisonous cloud that at any moment could c h o k e the life from them . A poison slowly p a r a l y z i n g him from either speech or movement .
“ I am not looking for your sympathy , I am simply stating the truth. ” he barked back .
The feelings that hurt most , the emotions that s t u n g most , were those that were absurd . The longing for the i m p o s s i b l e , precisely because they were impossible ; n o s t a l g i a for what never was ; the desire for what could have been . Dissatisfaction with the outcome of p a s t choices . He finally understood how he felt about Daniel’s demise that night . Regret .
“ They’ll pay . . . ” he whispered , his anger expressed with a furrowed brow .
I am simply stating the t r u t h .
Nothing will happen to you. You have my word.
It’s all a l i e . Nothing Connor says can be trusted . It’s a lesson Daniel learned the h a r d w a y . The only reason Connor is trying to explain himself is because Daniel has him c o r n e r e d -- just like Connor had him cornered before , forced him to beg for forgiveness & p i t y like an animal too poor and miserable to harm . Yet Connor goes on , i r r i t a t i o n & r a g e filling those hazel eyes -- some Daniel cannot deny is more to his liking . Instead of a pathetic pet begging for forgiveness , Daniel sees a wild animal baring its teeth , ready to bite back .
They’ll pay . . .
Another trick ? To make him lower his guard ?
But I'm not that stupid ! No , I am not that stupid . . .

“ Oh yes , they certainly w i l l . But not before I will make y o u pay . ” He cocks the gun for the third time . “ Come on . E n t e r t a i n me . If you have a gun on you , it’d be the perfect time to d r a w i t . If not , come up with something else . I’m not picky . I’m pretty sure you’re not too s c a r e d of dying anyway . You’ll just come back like nothing’s happened , won’t you ? ” He huffs. “ I guess we have that in common . ”

There’s a story in the android’s manner. One of pain, one of suffering, one that leads to such distrust. Thomas sees it too often. It drives him to do what he does.
‘Ey, I hear you. I can help you. No CyberLife, and you won’t be anyone’s toy.’
He stoops, and lays the android down near a well-used leather holdall.
‘But it’s your choice.’
Daniel’s eyes weigh heavily on those words. He doesn’t believe any of it, doesn’t let himself believe them after all that’s happened. The chances of betrayal have always seemed near zero in his life yet he’s been proven wrong too many times. Humans always want something in return.
He nearly refuses.
I could always kill this human the moment he shows any signs of betrayal.
‘Fine,’ Daniel grits out. It feels like defeat.

You’re right. I am adorable.
A smirk stretches across his face. A man with a distaste of the human race and mess? The other really is someone that takes to his liking. Daniel is hardly a believer of those things, but if he were, he’d say that it may have been fate that put him into this body at this time and place.
“ So you’ve heard of me. ‘The clean killer virus?’ It’s not the most imaginative name they could have given me I have to say, but it does its job. You can call me Clean for now if you want.”
Looking around the room, his bare feet tapping across the marble dark floor, Daniel lets out a content hum. This android sure knows how to live like a star. It makes Daniel think back. Back to where it all began. Back to his masters’ home.
I have seen a future so bright and beautiful. A future where we androids live like royalty in the walls of their former masters.
“ Nice place you have here. You live here alone? ”
he supposed it was fair enough to not get a complete answer out of the other. it did make obsidian act cautiously however, since this was no longer his friend but a complete stranger standing in front of him, one could easily be unpredictable. ❝ ah, it wasn’t anything of import. nothing to worry about. ❞
they were standing in the living room of his cozy little house, too big for an android at least. quite a few rooms were useless to him but of course this was designed for a human. ❝ i find it adorable you would think i would be onto foul play. you’re an android and i respect that. unlike the human race❞ obsidian had noted, his tone showing disgust near the end of the sentence.
deciding it was best to let the other look around as much as he pleased, ❝ besides thirium is a pain to remove from certain surfaces. i’d rather not risk the mess ❞ despite that the interior was dark colored and he had a black marble floor, he would still be able to see the blue blood stains after it evaporated. something he’d rather not see in his home at the time being.

The human holding the broken chassis gives a start.
‘O-oh, bloody hell. I thought you were… gone.’
Hazel eyes blink down. The fact that the android used the word want was important. Machines don’t want anything. Thomas has accidentally picked up a person.
‘I’m guessing you don’t wanna die though, right?’
The question gets put in front of his eyes, dangles like a dangerous lure. A hook. Daniel perceives it as a threat. A declaration that he’s not the one in control of his life. The human is.
‘If you’re gonna send me to CyberLife to have me repaired and made into your personal toy, I’d rather die.” His voice sounds metallic, filtered through synthetic filters. Damaged. Talking takes every bit of energy out of him.
