“I felt like crying but nothing came out. It was just a sort of sad sickness, sick sad, when you can’t feel any worse. I think you know it. I think everybody knows it by now.”

silasbolton:
Silas let out a soft chuckle, amused. Arms folding across his chest, he released a long sigh. “Don’t we all?” he said, grin still in place. He paused for a moment, biting the corner of his lips. “You can sit, if you want,” he told her, scooting over to give her some space. “D’you usually jog this late? Sounds like torture–the running, I mean.”
“i guess so,” she returned the smile, shyly. at first, clem felt uncomfortable with the male’s question. she usually isolated herself and never got too close to others in the compound. she decided to push the feeling away as she sat, leisurely. “i usually do, yeah. it keeps my mind off of,” her voice slowly drifted off as her smile fade, turning her gaze to her hands in hopes of hiding her emotions. she always choked up while thinking about her parents.

juniperpng:
“i’m fine,” juniper states, though the words are rushed out and clearly far from the truth. after helping someone, she allowed her mind to wander to her mother, she was the one who taught her everything she knew. usually, she avoided dwelling on her memories of the woman because it upset her, but there were times when she couldn’t stop herself from doing it. she had been separated from both of her parents at the age of fourteen, and had since been on her own, it wasn’t something she spoke candidly about. “just a long day. everyone knows what those are like, yeah? you don’t have to worry about me.”
clem’s face dropped. she didn’t want to push the question any farther, but she also wanted to help. she’s been filled with anger and sadness for so long and whenever someone else showed even a hint of sadness, she got defensive. she shook her head and let out a shaky breath. “well, if you ever need to talk about it,” she gave a small smile, “you know where to find me.”

darlingesther:
esther laughed quietly before shrugging her shoulders, “alright, well did you get anything on your last outing? kinda miss going out there.” she explained with a small sigh. there was a brief silence before the leader clapping her hands, “if you remember find me or rohan, if you remember whatever you were thinking, just tell us.”
“i got some.. toilet paper?” she spoke shyly, her cheeks a bright shade of crimson. she wanted to impress esther but was always afraid of not being good enough. “i’ll make sure to tell you. i’m so sorry about my brain blanking.”

silasbolton:
Even as he was deep in thought, the sound of footsteps echoing nearby caught Silas’ attention. He blinked a few times before turning his head, seeing a figure and he cleared his throat, running his fingers through his hair. “Dead or alive?” he asked in a teasing tone, a slight grin on his lips, hoping the person would be table to take a sort of cruel joke. Considering the situation the world was currently in, he had to at least make himself laugh every once in a while.
the small girl couldn’t help but let out a soft giggle as she stepped closer towards the bench. she knew kaelyn wouldn’t approve of her being out alone, especially with a person she’s never associated with before. she tried to shrug off the thought as she squinted towards his direction. “i don't believe i'm dead,” she tried to tease back, before realizing the comment was silly and she let out a sigh. she wanted to make the male laugh but she was failing to crack a joke.

silasbolton:
It was late, the dark bringing in the peace and quiet of the compound, the only lights coming from the few street lamps. Silas took it all in, sitting on a bench, staring up at the dark, black sky above him. Whenever he found himself restless and unable to sleep, Silas would be outside, the chill breeze hitting his skin as he thought about how he was going to work in a few hours, about how busy the compound would be, about how he would have to do the same daily routine. He also thought about his family. His family, especially. He breathed in deep, closing his eyes briefly, letting his thoughts wander.
clementine was on her daily night jog. sleep was no longer an option for her as the night raised. she always took short naps during the day, but if she even attempted to sleep at night, she’d get the horrid dreams of her parents. she took a heavy breath as she wrapped her arms around herself. usually, it was quite empty at night, so when she caught a glimpse of the male, she felt stunned. she stared at him blankly, not knowing what to do in the situation. she wasn’t even completely sure he’d be aware of her presence as she studied his features from afar.

medic-luna:
Luna had spent the entire day at the medical bay, she had been helping around with inventory and figuring out what was needed the most. Sure they always needed anything they could find, but there were some things which were their priority at the moment. She had been there for hours without taking a break, so she decided it was time to go back to her room, sleep for a few hours and maybe get something to eat. As she was about to leave, she almost walked into someone who was coming in. “Oh sorry, it was totally my fault, I wasn’t paying attention.”
clementine was trying avoid facing her headache. she thought that the more she gathered, the less it would hurt. unfortunately, the aching just developed farther. she tried avoiding the medical bay as much as possible but this time she just couldn’t resist going. she let out a deep breath as she almost ran into luna. “jesus. it’s not a problem,” clementine paused, holding her head, before returning her focus onto the other female. “were you heading out? should i come back later?”

kcelyn:
“oh, yes, totally!” she quietly shouted, letting out a small giggle. “you can sneak out in the middle of the night & get yourself killed just to bring them some toys.” she teased, nudging her with her elbow.
after the two walked for a while, they finally came across the neighborhood they were looking for. “okay, here we go. we should probably stay together.” she said before running off to the first house, spotting the rotting playground in their backyard. clearly who ever lived here had children so hopefully they’d be able to find some stuff inside.
clem looked at the house, her face showing a hint of sadness. she imagined how happy the family must have been before this all happened. the thought was quickly shaken off as she ran behind kaelyn.
“do you want to stick together,” she spoke quietly, still feeling a sense of sadness, “or one of us take inside and the other takes the backyard?”

kcelyn:
“i think not.” kaelyn replied, laughing softly. she began to pick up the pace, her hand holding onto the strap of her backpack as she walked. the girl looked back at clem, smiling slightly. “you know you’re always gonna be my little sister, right?” she stopped walking for a moment, wrapping her arm around the younger girl’s shoulder. “no matter what.”
when the girls had found out about clem’s real parents, she became sort of.. distant & it seemed as if clementine just treated kaelyn as a best friend rather than a sister. regardless if they were blood or not, to kaelyn, they were family because at the end of the day, family doesn’t mean blood.
clem’s blood ran to her cheeks as she filled with happiness. she truly loved kaelyn as a sister and knew she’d also be there for her, and the feeling was mutual. however, clem couldn’t stay serious for long as she turned towards the girl.
“until you meet a guy and then have kids after a while, then i’ll just be like your nanny who constantly watches the kids” she giggled, before focusing on the road ahead.

kcelyn:
once again, she nodded her head. “so, that means we can either go out pretty far to this shopping district type of thing i’ve overheard them talking about or we can go back to that neighborhood we went out to last week and thoroughly look through everything.”
when they go out to gather, they usually have a certain thing they’re looking for that day and when they had went to the large neighborhood, the search was for medicines as the medics were slightly running out.
“i’m pretty sure i saw some kids stuff in the backyards of some of the houses so, i mean it’s worth a try. i’ve heard them say that the shopping place seemed to be a little full of.. you know.” she shrugged, hoping that clem would take the neighborhood over the shopping place since she wasn’t really in the mood to potentially die today.
“kaelyn, if you want to go to the shopping place, you can just say that.” she teased as she started to zone out, thinking of how things were before kaelyn’s mom died. they were like an actual family and everything was peaceful.
she let out a small sigh, shaking her head and turning her focus back onto kaelyn, waiting for her to lead the way. she felt too harsh on kaelyn, so she decided to start doing things her way, rather than being stubborn and ignoring everything she said.

kcelyn:
looking over at clementine, she nodded her head. she could tell by her tone that she didn’t want kaelyn to come with her. since she had found out had out about her real parents, she had times where she just wanted to be alone as as much as kaelyn wanted to give her the space she wanted & needed, it was far too dangerous for her to go out alone.
“i got my bag.” she said softly, tucking a strand of her wavy brown hair behind her ear. “also brought this from dad.” she slipped the pistol out from her waist band, holding it up. “don’t know how much help it’ll be if we run into one of those things but hey, at least if we run into other people..” she trailed off, figuring it was best to stay silent.
clementine felt like she upset the girl so she gently nudged her. she didn’t mean any harm, she just wasn’t prepared for kaelyn’s energy. she gave her a faint smile as she continued walking.
“i was thinking of finding toys for calliope’s kids. she seems like she has a lot on her hands and it might help her out.” she said, determined to find something. although it was silly, she cared about the kids around the compound.

kcelyn:
kaelyn was facing the wall, curled up in her blanket. sure, she was exhausted but every single time she closed her eyes, all she could see was what happened yesterday when she was out on a run. the girl laid silently, her eyebrows furrowing as she heard a shuffling from across the room and then a slight creaking of the floor. after a minute, she sat up and looked towards clementine’s bed; empty.
kaelyn quickly pushed the blanket off of her, hopping out of bed. she grabbed her combat boots and backpack, slipping them both on. hurrying out the door, clementine wasn’t too far from their house so she quickly made her way down the front steps, her hand gently grabbing clem’s shoulder. “hey, where do ya think you’re going without me?”
“fuck! get off!” clem yelped, before glaring at kaelyn. she wasn’t aware of her practical sister being awake. they always gathered together, but for now, she wanted to be alone. she let out a small sigh knowing that the slightly older girl wouldn’t let her go without her. “i was just going to look for some possible toys the kids can play with. i don’t want them getting bored.”
she shot a glance towards the girl before returning her focus on where she was going. “are you coming or not? i want to try to find toys before the sun rises.”

clementine tucked a piece of hair behind her head as she walked around, humming to herself peacefully. she was sleep deprived, but the past few nights were just nightmares of her parents. alternately, she gathered late at night to keep her mind off of things. she knew it wasn’t the smartest idea to go wandering by herself while everyone else was asleep but waking up, screaming, wasn’t the brightest idea, either.

calliopefitzgerald:
she smiled with the girl happy that she made her get all excited. “yeah anytime you want just pop on by. honestly they need friends other than noah and me.” she said truthfully because as much as she loved her kids she’d like for them to make more friends other than each other. they had an insanely close sibling bond being the only little kids around. “tobias is the oldest, he’s five. then it’s the twins aurora and kol.”
“i can’t thank you enough.” she smiled, admiring how much she cared about her children and that she was willing to let clementine play with them. “if you ever need me to watch them, i’d love to help, as long as i’m not gathering!”

calliopefitzgerald:
“yeah I’ve got these kids on leashes.” she joked turning to look at tobias and kol play with some sticks and rocks. she looked at the younger girl wondering what she was thinking about. “Maybe you can come over, visit them, play with them. I think they’d like that, clementine. They don’t have any kids there age.” she asked softly thinking it was something the girl might enjoy. plus any alone time with her man would be an added bonus.
clementine was smiling at the children when calliope asked the question. her face instantly beamed. “are you serious,” clementine giggled, “you’d let me do that?” she couldn't contain her happiness, seeing as to how she loved helping all the kids whenever she wasn’t gathering.
