5 Simple Ways We Can Beat Climate Change in Singapore
Living so closely to the equator, it’s hard to determine if the heat we feel daily is because of our geographical location or if it’s due to climate change... or maybe it’s both.
Climate change has been an ongoing issue and has built pressure among a lot of us. According to BBC, we have about 12 months left to save our planet before effects become irreversible.
Hearing that is sure to make anyone shudder. If we don’t decide to step in to do our part, the situation will only get worst.
You must be thinking, how can I, a single person out of 7 billion people in the world, make a change at all?
Here are some ways you can play your part:
1. Reduce your plastic waste
Tumblr media
Single-use plastic takes thousands of years to decompose. As a result, it causes contamination in our environment due to the toxic chemicals it holds from manufacturing, and hence becomes extremely harmful to animal species when they get caught in it or eat it unknowingly.
To prevent this, switch your single-use plastic bags for these cost-efficient and stylish reusable grocery bags!
2. Go vegan!
Tumblr media
Beef requires 28 times more land to produce than pork or chicken, and 11 times more water. This means that there is a higher rate in climate impacting emissions.
Adopting a vegan lifestyle, even if it is just a few days in a week, will greatly help. (P.s. it’s good for your body too!)
3. Reduce your carbon footprints
Tumblr media
A huge problem in Singapore is the combat for cleaner air due to rising greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles. By picking public transport over your own mode of transportation, such as cars, the number of vehicles on the streets will reduce.
Less cars = Less greenhouse gas emissions = Cleaner Air!
4. Opt for sustainable fashion, ALWAYS
Tumblr media
The common misconception about sustainable fashion is that the clothes will be made of a “higher quality” material which means that it will be more expensive, which means it’s not worth it right? Wrong.
As Singapore has limited space, our waste goes to Semakau landfill but, with increasing number of waste every day, the landfill will be completely filled by 2035.
By opting for sustainable fashion, you will be reducing a lot of waste, without the expense of looking dashing.
5. Reduce water use
Tumblr media
Walking under the scorching sun in Singapore, daily is sure to make you eager to take a nice long shower when you get home. But, what if I told you that over 5 million other Singaporeans feel the same way? How much water is being used then?
In order to reduce water use, take shorter showers and turn off the tap when it’s not in use. Not only will you be playing your part, you can finally stop getting those mini heart attacks when the water bills roll around!
To find out more about the problems causing climate change and even more ways you can help, be sure to follow to view more post and check out Ministry of the Environment and Water Sources’ website!

So when you tell me my body is a political debate, I’ll laugh because I know one day,  and because of you, one day soon, the Earth will make the most beautiful choice and preserve her own life– put herself first, and wipe us clean.   And no man will be able to take that from her.

I’ve just learn that apparently most non-Australian’s are unaware that this is our actual, real, official fire danger scale.
We’ve lost over a million hectares of land to fire this season which is more than was lost in the Amazon fires. There’s been so much smoke it crossed the sea and reached New Zealand.
Our government still won’t take serious action on the climate crisis.

Denying global warming should be illegal. Like you are not expressing your personal opinion, you are spreading lies and are part of the problem why we even have global warming. Same thing goes for anti-vaxxers. Vaccinating your children should be something obligatory by law and not something the parents get to chose to do. Anti-Vaxxers are child abusers and a danger to everyone for not vaccinating their children.
There i said it, i know it’s rude and people will be mad but it is the truth.

A graphic showing the Australian bushfires compared to other great fires around the world. As you can see, the worst fire in the history of the US (the Peshtigo fire) doesn't even compare to what is happening now.
