50 fashion illustrations, a final 5 look collection and an evaluation of 300+ words: apparently due on the 28th too? but the due date on the assignment and the written due date in the assignment brief are different? it could be due on the 28th or mid way into October. hopefully the latter omg this is a lot of stuff in addition to these there is some groupwork, we need to make an essay to further prove that our pitch is good, its 1500 words? ish?

should be easy when split up between five people.

Monday - over the weekend I was exhausted and in so much pain I struggled to get out of bed, I started using a tonne of voltaren over the weekend. In the morning I woke up pain free for the first time in months and it was amazing, I went out shopping mid way through the day and brought some veggies for ratatouille and garlic bread. ⋆.𐙚 ̊ Tuesday - finished the pattern for the pants and did my layplan, pictured below, without my back pocket because I forgot to add those.

I cut out most of it and hung up the pattern pieces when class ended then grabbed from frozen yogurt on the way home₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁·ꕤ Wednesday - ehud dropped a nuke on my ground and we accepted it with open arms. there was only 3/5 group members present for this too.

we were going over the responses to the survey we put out, discussing good or less good points raised by the respondants; I was drawing and wondering why I picked fashion over visual art(as usual)

then ehud came over and asked us if we wanted to be to coordinators for the whole event. Another member accepted and my heart just dropped bc I have 3 pieces of clothing due with patterns, 50 drawings and a powerpoint all due within the next couple weeks.

I spoke to my ground and we negotiated workloads, we can be the coordinators but the brunt of that load will go on the groupmember who accepted the role(they are a music student who told us they have a lighter workload comparatively) and I would edit/check over the work they'd do and look for errors before we submit Thursday - woke up sore again and spent the day at home then went out to grab some supplies later in the day I need to attend my lectures on thursday at some point, I need to get more info about my powerpoint assignment. (っ◞‸◟ c)

anyways, grabbed some more sketchbooks so I could keep making drawings for the portfolio. I decided that I was going to make more variations of some of my drawing sets from the last porfolio. I started making more of Anne(the energetic winds of change) because shes fun to draw and I like the look of my prev drawings and think i could add more variations. I don't think I will make more of Marrick(finding hope in mediocrity) that set of drawings was a drag, I just hate? boring clothes? and I don't like minimalism or commercial clothes? they suck? and the Gorrister(lust for peace) ones also bored me, I might do 2 or 3 more of those but definitely not another 5

There will 100% be more Naarah drawings, shes too fun to draw and I have more ideas.

Friday - day at home went over a did so much quilting I reset the efforts i had made to fix my posture

after sewing for hours I hungout with jess and paid a visit to all the welcome swallows in the car park of our local mall

university reflective journal - week 4: term 2(18-22/08/2025)

thankfully things were a bit more coasty this week.

upcoming assignments:

Presentation with my group members about why our topic is valid: due Wednesday the 20th to be done in class.

proposal document with group members reflecting on said presentation + how we will improve upon the given feedback: due Sunday the 24th.

Monday: I returned from house sitting over the weekend and started settling in back home with bb.

Tuesday: pants time we started making pants, similarly to how we learned the blouse. We copy the pattern over to our own paper exactly(with tweaks if needed) a really unfortunate change this semester is the break times. some students(not me) would stay out longer than 30 minutes when we went for a coffee break at 10am so Ehud has scrapped the coffee break, now we only get to have lunch at 12 :(

this is especially unfortunate for me because I have to be up at 6:30 to get ready to catch my bus at 7:20(i wake up so early bc I lay in bed for at least 20 minutes because of back pain lmaoo). My bus ride is nearly 2 hours into the city then to campus and don't have time to eat in the morning and can't on the bus or in public; and eating in class is banned bc of health and safety regulations so with these new rules I don't have an opportunity to eat or drink from 6:30 to 12.

my life saving coffee break was ripped from me by the scoundrels. Ehud now traps the slaves in the class from 9 -12. ୧(๑•̀ᗝ•́)૭

Wednesday - group presentations I was the presenter guy because 2/5 of our group are on anxiety meds and the other two were a lil shy. thankfully, my friend in the group agreed to co present with me and another lad said they'd join to explain zine specifically. before class I took some pictures for my student ID card

idk if left or right is better, I'll figure it out later. I have the femcel phenotype, all i need is glasses to complete the look. I took other cuter pics that are on my insta ₊˚⊹☆

I thought about our topic and realized that within the first couple hours of our group working together I was the target on infighting repetitively - I didn't really notice this at the time, I just assumed I was in the wrong for being upset lol.

so I mentioned I had a male partner at one point and one member turned to me and asked me if I was straight with this look of horror on their face - it was pretty funny and probs a joke but I felt really alienated or whatever. when our group was just forming we were getting to know each other and My friend jumped in and told the group about my sex life to like validate that I was queer and thus could contribute with personal experiences(I'm not mad at my friend and we spoke after; we are chill)

so play by play: 1. I was assumed to be straight bc I had a male partner 2. forcibly outed by a friend 3. outed with an anecdote about my sex life to prove I was queer it didn't really hit me that this was fucky when it all happened, I just felt uncomfortably a bit hurt then brushed it off.

I don't feel any animosity towards my group and I know my struggles as very 'oh on I spilled caviar on my yacht' but I still often feel alienated or just kinda distant from other queer people? Most of my group are into drag and music and discourse, they are so much more involved in queer spaces than me and we don't have much in common outside of some shared experiences with bullying or binge drinking.

It might just be our interests don't really intersect much too. When we met up to work on the powerpoint they all bonded and spoke about brokeback mountain and supernatural and I just couldn't relate or join in because I haven't seen either show.

my incapacity to form friendships aside, all of these are examples of in fighting - specifically bi phobia and thus validate our topic. So I asked the friend who outed me if i could use it as an example to validate our topic during the presentation; he said sure. I think our presentation went well - Ehud just wanted us to take a firm stance and say we are anti terfs if we are anti terfs(obviously we are anti terf)

I ran off early after presenting and hungout with my philosophy bros, we spoke about the 4th dimension and what if Carvan could access it. Then we fine tuned salvation again - knights are overpowered they need to be nerfed they just roadblock half the map stupidly.

I drew Rhaun the sword beast a lot with them.⳻_⳺

Thursday: I woke up at 6:30 and my back hurt too much so I decided to stay home. I went over to see my grandmother and spent the middle of the day quilting then went over to my partners house. I hadn't seen him properly since before he went house sitting so It was great to spent real time with him. The date we planned last weekend fell through bc he got a flat tire and needed to get his car towed.

we wanted to go out to get dinner and the car wouldnt start - another plan foiled by car trouble. •ˋ◠ˊ• He needed to replace his battery too. it was all good, I was just glad to see him, I'm weighing up whether i wanna invite him over Saturday - in the morning junkler and I are going skating so i might be too tired to make crepes for dinner.

dnd was back too and what the hell? I now have the ring of Carvan in the campaign. This is unfortunate because Gorrister just made up (and used the amulet to become human) then made out with their ex partner. Whoopsie. I had to roll a performance check before the dm faded to black, I have a negative 1 on charisma(foreshadowing) I rolled a natural 1, then had to subtract that so I had literally fucking 0 for performance - v unlucky, I will need to roll a con save start of next session.

however, the ring:

so I'm at a crossroads, i could: a) put the ring on and gain a buff but lose this relationship b) put the ring on and stay with aster but always be debuffed

I'll probably put it on and see what happens, maybe Carvan will let me be buffed if I say sorry every time I do something wrong?? idk maybe I just keep the ring in my pocket for a while and put it on later after the npc dies ⎺\(シ)/⎺ Friday: home day! /ᐠ - ˕ -マᶻ 𝗓 𐰁

university reflective journal - week 2: term 2 (04-09/08/2025)

somehow week 2 is already crunch week :(

anyways, progress on my assignments:

20 fashion illustrations: 9/20, 3 more are cooking and unfinished.

simple shirt: all pattern pieces marked and done, all shirt pieces cut out. pocket, shit placket and yolk all sewn.

Monday - went out in the morning to stones corner to therapy then did some thrifting afterwards and got frozen yogurt. Therapy was not fun, I have really bad emotional processing.

I'll be telling Stuart about something awful then he'll stop me and go 'but how does that make you feel?' and it'll just draw a blank for me, its like dam bro idk ʅ ( ․ ⤙ ․) ʃ

Tuesday - finally sewing, when I came in last week and cut out all my pieces I made a little mistake with the lay plan. so you can see these pieces are marked: 'cut 2 on fold'

i didn't do that, i cut 2 not on fold and ended up with this.

actual nightmare. I had to recut my yolk and collar stand and cut another pair of cuffs.

after that disaster we spent time interfacing our collar, collar stand and cuffs. We got to use the big heat press after ironing.

I marked, pressed and top stitched my front placket and marked where the buttons go. While ironing this one of the new students was next to me using an iron without steam or heat, I quickly showed them how to use the pedals lol

once the front was ironed flat I pressed the pocket and top stitched that down too.

once that was done, I made the yolk.

it didn't come out quite perfect, one line of visible stitching was in the valley between two pieces while the other was ontop of the yolk - whatever, it was my first try ◝(ᵔᵕᵔ)◜

Wednesday: spent the morning at home scanning drawings then went out to my big picture lecture in the arvo. I was dreading this because its group work, the group decided to make a zine about discrimination within the lgbtq community.

I'm not super stoked for it because I don't interact with the community much, right now I have a boyfriend so pride doesn't mean all that much to me. maybe the fact I don't engage with the community because I'm in a 'straight' relationship is something the zine could explore (╭ರ_•́)

Thursday: I arrived at uni at 9am and found that the lecture I missed last week got pushed back to 10(not really), so I had a meal. When i came back to class the lecture was pushed back again, this time to 11:30 so i spent the morning working on my drawings

later in the day I got frozen yogurt and hungout with jess for the first time in like 2 weeks(It felt so much longer) Friday - home day hooray.

mini portfolio (o)/ ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗

I completed a mini portfolio in my first three weeks of the term for my first assignment. The portfolio was 20 drawings split into 4 sets of 5, each inspired by a stimulus; it was interesting. I also had to explain my design choices, this was difficult omg ✌︎㋡.

the stimuli I chose were:

energetic winds of change - Anne as the model. I picked blue and yellow because they seemed like energetic colours. I went all out with the shape language of winds and swirls, I got so into this I forgot how to make clothes that make sense. The first two are nothing burgers on the design front but pretty to look at I guess (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

Lust for peace - (human)Gorrister as the model what does this even mean? like oh nothing gets me going more than nuclear disarmament I guess? I decided to just do doves and dove wings because I wasn't sure how to merge the idea of world peace with lingerie

small issue with the doves and whatnot, I concluded in my notes that they would need to be taxidermy. thus requiring an act of violence to occur to create peace themed clothing. ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )

I am a genius, these are stupid as shit. I hate how zesty I drew bro

Finding hope in mediocrity - with Marrick as the model. I decided to draw clothes in the same colours/that gradually get more fancy? I didn't really know what to do.

Resist conformity through beauty - Naarah my favourite set, I felt like I actually had ideas and wanted to draw(because this was a ruse, I was just drawing Naarah's forms in clothing inspired by their in universe clothing ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) sneaky me)

university reflective journal - week 3: term 2 (09-15/08/2025)

everything is due this weekend on the 17th (ó﹏ò｡) oh no anyways, I have been absolutely motoring through plus house sitting. on Sunday the 8th my partner went down to Canberra for a skiing trip with his dad so I was left alone in the house for the next week. its saturday the 16th while i'm writing this and my progress is:

I currently have 18/20 drawings done - the last 2 are half drawn up or not fully coloured.

The shirt is finished! the pattern is finished! ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ ) However, the technical portfolio is incomplete.

Monday - spent the day at home rotting away and drawing

Tuesday - went to uni and absolutely motored through the shirt, I finished my plackets and did french seams on the sides and armholes.

I know it looks like a clusterfuck, it was as disgusting to press and work through. On my final shirt I think I might skip the placket if it's possible, hopefully ( •̯́ ^ •̯̀)

I repeated these horrific steps on the other side.

after I finished the plackets I did the seams in french and attached the sleeve. The french seam method is as follows:

place pieces together wrong sides together(opposite to usual placement) and sew 1/4 of an inch in

trim the excess fabric and turn the garment outside in, so the right sides are together.

pinch the fabric and pin, then sew. the finished product should look similar to the pictured below - a clean french seam completely free of raw edges.

if needed cut any excess peaking out on the right side of the fabric that somehow escaped step 2.

Wednesday - Ekka, uni was cancelled on Wednesday so I stayed home and did some more drawing. Later in the day Junkler came over for a sleepover and

Thursday - the most ridiculous day.

Early in the morning Junkler and I hatched a plan to get frozen yogurt for breakfast before my lecture at 10. We left the house and walked to the train station, at 7:25 we arrived at the train station and almost missed the train. We ran across the crossing to the train. the train was completely stationary and people were boarding but the lights at the boomgates were going off like crazy. We didn't want to miss the train so we ran across after the other people and boarded the train.

after a couple stations some alarms went off and the trains came to a halt, there had been an incident on the tracks up ahead. At the time I didn't know so I thought that my friend and I single handedly destroyed the entire Brisbane rail system because we ran across when the light was on. (ᵕŏ_ŏ)

I nearly had a panic attack while we were waiting for the shuttlebuses.

Turns out there was a massive collision in Runcorn between a truck and a train on track 2 - this put track 2/3 out of order and made the boom gates tweak out.

luckily the entire train system was not disabled by two uni students running to catch a train. ˚∆˚

once we got to Garden city we found that the yo-way there opens at 10am - not 9am. so we cant get it :( we grabbed some sushi and some Cinnabon, then I split off from junk and caught the bus to uni.

I wanted to speed run my shirt and rush home but the lecturer asked me not to use the iron bc it was louder than her talking so I had to stall my shirt progress for a bit. I decided to lock in and just draw.

I finished the sideseams french style, the hem and then the cuffs and collar once I was allowed to use the iron again

omg its so pretty wow

shirt done! I headed home, I had grabbed onigiri for junk on the way back and had to take a weird bus route because the trains were still on the fritz.

my grandmother came to the bus station to pick me up and take me back to my partner's house. We caught up and I showed her my (Almost) finished portfolio

Friday - chill day at home. Junk and I made some pizza and spent the morning at home chilling, I tried to lock in and draw and ended up finishing 18/20 drawings. I drew up the last 2 and thought about colouring them but decided to just rest. I was so exhausted on Friday, I binged Miraculous Ladybug with my friend and ate some icecream. We went out on a bike ride and saw some cockatoos to end off the week, I have a real grind ahead this weekend and I'm excited.

My partner came back this morning and once my assignments are done I'm going with him to the Ekka to support my brother at his esports tournament ദ്ദി(｡•̀ ,<)~✩‧₊

Naarah ..( ˶óᯅò) !!

warning: non sexual nudity with genitals - they aren't human genitals though. Naarah is the daughter of Carvan and the main antagonist of CorvidKnight.

My brother and I worked a lot on Naarah's designs, she is a witch and has a feminine body but we didn't want to lean into the 'sexy evil woman' look. Naarah is so much more than that, she's the daughter of god, the heir of this world. Naarah is the archfiend and the archfiend doesn't wear bustiers, Naarah doesn't usually wear clothes at all, why would she? she rides around on a giant hag and wields a sword made of flesh. The hag ↴

my brother and I were set to the task of making a feminine villain who is naked but not sexualised - we went eldritch horror. Naarah is seven entities, Naarah herself and her six forms(one for each of her six fingers)

original Naarah is humanlike but not quite - Carvan made her to be humanish.

I drew a detailed full body anatomical drawing of her with her weapon, back and hand and another couple drawings (with Gorrister for scale)

her armour is like that of a Crustacean. The sword of Naarah is a living creature called Rhaun, when not in use as a weapon it runs around and is a steed for other characters.

I drew the beast twice, once like this and once as more of a sexy druid - that design was scrapped because it wasn't beastly enough. (apologies for shitty notepad)

I really like the feathers framing her breasts, its very birdlike but not beastly or scary enough. It could be her de monstered form?? I don't think Naarah would make herself more palatable though⋆✴︎˚｡⋆

the more beastly design might not even be final, my partner thinks she should be more muscular.

and the heretic, the form most like Carvan. I drew her in full colour at the request of my philosophy bros, they love Naarah. Next to her is Carvan, her father for comparison. 𖹭.ᐟ

university reflective journal - week 1: term 2 (29/07-01/08/2025

its been a while! my first week back was a breeze compared to the awkward anxiety inducing shuffle of last term, I was able to enroll in my units(I think the problem from last term might've been self inflicted because I struggled to navigate the website layout) besides that so far this term has been easy on the practical, tough on the pen˚ ༘ ೀ⋆.˚

Upcoming assignments:

20 full colour fashion illustrations. Broken up into four collections of five looks. This time we are given concepts + methods (last term was a myo type deal)

tldr, pick four concepts and then use a unique method for each collection. So 'energetic winds of change' + 'explore pattern, texture and textile ideas' = hopefully an excellent set of five looks

this is due: 17th of august (•᷄- •᷅ ;) not even three weeks away

2. a simple blouse made from a shirt block, that's it.

last term we did softcore architecture and had to calculate every single bit of seam allowance, give and make out own pattern. This time we just copy from the block - what a relief!

Monday - I took advantage of my last day of holiday, I spent the whole day at home playing videogames with my friends and generally slacking off.

Tuesday - official first day back. took the bus in as i usually did and met a cool goth on the bus. we spoke about gaming, her shit pc cant run baldurs gate which stops her from completely losing her life to it.

there were a lot of new students in my class - all starting in term 2 rather than term 1 like the original class did. my lecturer showed them around most of the morning after giving the original students the shirt block task. most of my morning was spent ruling lines and occasionally explaining things to new students. I did hear a funny story from Benji though, apparently a 3rd year student completed their final collection - their theme was 'female empowerment' and their collection was (drumroll please ♬⋆.˚)

Wednesday - the lecture is in the arvo so I spent the morning beforehand alone at campus working on my shirt - I set out my layplan then cut out every piece.

I picked up my dress from last semester, my last portfolio and my old patterns for safekeeping. Over lunch I finished 2/20 drawings ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-

sneak peak of one of them - because the drawings are 4 sets of 5 each, I decided to draw 5 outfits on the same model for each.

Anne is going to be the model for the first 5 which are 'energetic winds of change' robes, dresses and gowns. I figured the next would be Gorrister in menswear(I need to get better with menswear, I always neglect it), then Marrick in fancy nice menswear and another set of womenswear - either Naarah in some edgy outfits or generic anime girl number 3 wearing those same outfits.

I want to keep the colour palette of each of them pretty insular too - all of Anne's will be blue, grey and yellow. Gorrister's would be red and blue, Marrick - green, blue, purple. and Naarah would be jewel tones and earth tones. there are six of her i might draw an extra drawing for the set of 5

The lecture itself was eh? the tldr was 'be nice to eachother' because its group project time but we wont tell you what the project is yet so you all talk to eachother. I left early because my friends and I formed a group + got an idea and I wanted to spend time with my philosophy bros.

Thursday - I woke up later and my back hurt so much I couldn't get out of bed. I decided to skip my first ever design lecture because I already skimmed the coursework and started on the first assignment.(the pretentious stimulus thingo)

I spent the day working on the drawings and then did some sewing with my grandmother. I also went on a lovely date with my partner - he had been traveling for a little so we hadn't seen each other much. we got burgers and ice cream.

Friday - woke up sore and late again, spent the morning working on this post and some more drawings. I almost have 5 done! a whole quarter of the assignment yay ₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊

the first week is always really tough, I need to lock in a slowly re-sync my circadian rhythm to uni life.

The next bout of drawing - the calm before Naarah

i wanted to get one more drawing post out before the inevitable mature label post of Naarah. Some of these drawings are a bit older so the quality and resolution will be little shittier than usual - I hadn't yet mastered the HB, the 2B and the 6B pencils. )again, warning for nonsexual nudity - no genitals but nipples exist)

The first couple drawings are of Gorrister as a human, they are a human for a good chunk of CorvidKnight so its only fair I draw them as a human too. I tried to keep the sharpness of their face or the general vibe of it cohesive with their inhuman form. here is a little page of expressions.

the choice to make them birdlike post transformation was accidental(i just like birds and needed a dnd character so I drew bird guy) and intentional(in terms of CorvidKnight) because it is harder for humans to relate to non mammals.

mammals have this emotiveness to their faces that humans pretty easily understand and relate to.

With lizards and birds its harder - they lack the features we usually look to for expressions: they lack lips, sometimes eyelids, their eyes are positioned differently on the face so their profiles are less recognizable to us. This difference in facial structure is why animated anthropomorphized bird/reptile characters have the eyes positioned like mammals I grew up with lots of birds, I had chooks as a kid. I've raised ducklings by hand three separate times through my childhood/teen years and I currently have a little blue parrot sitting on my computer as I type this.

I also religiously feed birds (I know its bad, I know I'm not supposed to).

my wild bird friends are plentiful. 𓅰 𓅬 𓅭 𓅮 𓅯⊹ ♡˚₊‧⁺ ₊ ⊹

I have three magpies at home who regularly come by to be fed and another two more magpies I meet occasionally at the chapel in the city - they all have names descriptive of their appearances. the expressions of birds are often more subtle, its which eye they look at food with, their body language, their feathers.

all of this attentiveness to the expressions of birds is likely learned, it might be a case of nurture where whatever group of animals a child grows up with is the group they feel most connected to. ≽^•⩊•^≼

that combined with the aforementioned difficulty relating to seemingly stoic birds and lizards is likely why lots of people have canine or feline like fursonas rather than avian or reptilian ones.

rant aside - giving creature Gorrister eyebrows and more expressive eyes did wonders for his emotiveness.

Human Gorrister on the other hand, maybe needs work shopping? its lore relevant that they are at least decently attractive because it makes the second puberty transformation to bird freak far more jarring.

during a little half rewatch of David Attenboroughs' "life of birds" , I looked closely at the development of chicks, specifically Altricial chicks.

bird chicks are broken up into two groups:

Precocial: ducks, geese, plovers, emus, etc. these are usually ground dwelling birds and their chicks come out of the egg fully formed. They are self sufficient really cute.

Altricial: Corvids, parrots, passers (sparrows, tits, swallows), etc. these birds make nests and their young are blind, bald goblins incapable of caring for themselves. Gorrister falls into the altricial group because giving them feathers automatically post transformation is too kind - they spend at least a month as a bald, goblinlike creature hiding under a quilt. below is a comparison of no feather v feathers.

more drawings! Gorrister, Gastornis and a little bit of Anne

I have once again crawled out of my mid semester break rot hole and picked up a pencil.

Also after the Gorrister drawings and info dump about documentaries there is a little bit of nonsexual female nudity, same caliber as the previous drawings posted - no genitals but nipples exist. 𖤣𖥧.𖤣𖥧𓆏𖡼.𖤣𖥧𖡼.𖤣𖥧 Gorrister drawings - bro is so offended .·°՞(˃ ᗜ ˂)՞°·.

this is one of my favourite drawings of all time, its Gorrister with the two reconstructions of Gastornis - a giant flightless bird that lived in Europe during the mid Paleocene - Eocene In the Paleontology community there was a fair bit of debate around what Gastornis ate, specifically whether it was a large "terror bird" like predator that crushed the skulls of its prey with its huge beak. Or alternatively a gentle 6ft goose with a large beak for crushing nuts.

I grew up with the 'terror bird' Gastornis (pictured to the left of Gorrister) and was first exposed to it in the BBC TV series "walking with beasts"

I kept a lot of the elements of the bird the same from the show but made the neck and beak less feathered like a vulture

As I've gotten older the community opinion has shifted and Gastornis is now usually depicted as a gentle nut cracking giant. So i made the Gastornis to the right more pudgy and docile looking - still capable of harm but by accident only.

I drew Gorrister to scale next to the two of them. He's not a good reference though, the birds are not actually exactly one Gorrister tall. These birds are undersized, Gorrister is 5'9 while Gastornis stands at 6ft.

whatever, I thought it would be cool if they all saw eachother eye to eye (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

Needless to say I love these birds.

I drew Gorrister full colored in a new upgraded plumage. I decided to go for the coloration of the Hooded crow rather than the all black of other corvids because it just feels more dynamic.

I will definitely need to get into digital art proper soon to do a proper colored drawing, the black of his head is overwhelming and needs a white pen, grey pen or just to be a little lighter so the details are visible.

I also finished David Attenborough's 'the life of birds' and it did not disappoint. The final episode was dedicated to birds that are adapting to man's world, those that are endangered by climate change/urban development/deforestation/etc and what conservationists are doing to save endangered species. Then to end things off with a bang we visit this farmer called Kent Klegg from Idaho who is a vigilant conservationist with a passion for cranes.

He's hand reared critically endangered whooper crane chicks with another local crane species to avoid humanization. Then taught his flock to fly after him while he rides his tractor.

he's now made an aircraft and plans to teach his cranes the migratory route to Mexico.

he's just a madlad.

it felt really odd to gearshift back into drawing women again, outside of my fashion portfolio I would exclusively draw Gorrister or just men in general. I think a lot of artists get lost with drawing women, they try to draw the boobs first then just add in all the other important stuff as an afterthought - or at least thats what I defaulted previously.

Its deffo a symptom of the general 'goonerism' that proliferates all online spaces.

drawing just grotty men, twinks and furries has definitely improved my artstyle and drawings of women because I actually had to think about the structure and function of the character rather than "oOoo shes pretty"

I wasn't sure if I should censor because its non sexual nudity and there's not genitals? I've seen other posts with non sexual nudity (specifically breasts) just be fine for tumblrs' guidelines.

It might just be the artist in me or lack of exposure to American puritanism but I don't find nudity inherently sexual. I draw everyone nude by default its just easier to get the anatomy and expressions right, then add the clothes ontop where relevant.

I also drew her and Gorrister together, In the comic series they are friends ٩( ᐖ )人( ᐛ )و and on the quest for the ring of Carvan.

technical drawings of Gorrister

These are all scanned sketches(except for the last two). I am in the middle of watching David Attenboroughs' "the life of birds" and have been furiously drawing using the documentary as a direct reference.

I drew the featherless v feathered comparison first - during the documentary there was a fair bit of focus on the muscular/skeletal structure of the bird. I was finding it hard to visualize how Gorrister's feathers would look when added ontop of the frame underneath.

When people look at birds we are unaware that they are shriveled goblins under all the keratin and this should be true for Gorrister. Vaguely humanoid but frail and clearly goblin like; and like a real bird, they are a lot larger looking when feathered. The feathered Gorrister looks like they are wearing a puff sleeved crop top and bloomers. The drawing process for Gorrister is: body - feathers - clothes.

This process is important because it means non of the drawings will appear disjointed, the frame stays the same - the feathers are an additional module that themselves are dynamic.

They can be indicative of the temperature, of the character's emotions or their discomfort. My own parrot often fans his feathers when he is cold, angry or sick.

The feathers themselves can also be affected by the environment. On the below page the sketch to the left is Gorrister wet - sitting up in a bath or something. The feathers appear more spine-like and fibrous because they are waterlogged.

I also drew Gorrister with a tail, a proper "tail tail and I don't think its worth including in the base design, they might acquire it at some point ^𓂁𓂄ﻌ𓂁𓂄^ฅ

I drew a bunch of faces and expressions using raven references and looked at the eyelashes or lack of eyelashes on the faces of birds - I am split on what is better. I feel like I am treading the edge between 'uncanny valley' and 'anime animal' every time I draw Gorrister with more humanlike eyes/eyelashes

I really love the little arm - shoulder feather drawings.

now for the more technical drawings - structure of feathers, etc.

when I started drawing I was torn. I could keep the legs and stomach bare or have the very easy to draw floof. (╭ರ_•́)

Obviously I picked the feather croptop/balloon pants combo. The feather big T-shirt would be a look reserved for winter months.

being a bird creature would be very itchy, given how often birds moult and shed - it'd drive me mad (￢з￢)

luckily I have an amulet that lets me become human for a couple hours each day. The amulet was from an archfae so I am probably fucked and going to have to pay back all the time I spent as a human as a slave or something; but its absolutely worth.

recently though the amulet betrayed me, I made a shitty sandwich and turned into a human to eat it. The sandwich was awful and I threw up everywhere because I could taste how awful it was.

I like to think that If I ate it in bird form I would've been fine because all food tastes like cardboard or salt. speaking of food ପ(੭ ´ᵕ`)੭°• જ⁀➴

I'd imagine eating a burger would be difficult for an animal with a beak. The burger is too big to swallow but too small to tear up properly; you need to bite/chew it to eat it properly.

They'd take the burger apart. A better food would be a goodberry. In the dnd campaign I rarely eat the goodberries from our druid because shes a bitch elf; but recently I broke the fast.

I just got too hungry while fighting a mindflayer.

I play Gorrister terribly in dnd, I barely eat, fail to rest and use the amulet stupidly. I feel so bad for him

university reflective journal - week 14 (05-09/05/2025)

the last week of term ✺◟(＾∇＾)◞✺ i'm free now

this final week i handed in my final two assignments:

1. my fashion illustration portfolio: 50 full colour, detailed fashion illustrations about a hypothesized future trend. I went way off track and just made illustrations of clothing that I liked then wrote a little trying to feebly tie my art to the stimulus material.

2. my final dress and technical portfolio. The most horrific assignment yet. I had to create a step by step guide to my dress.

dear god it was difficult - because I forgot most of what I did because I created my dress during a stint of extreme focus.

Finished the dress, took pictures of it on a mannequin, on my partner and on Jess then myself + attended a professional photo shoot for the dress.

Monday - really chill day

I didn't do anything expect draw again, I was very close to the end though 47/50 drawings and only needed to power through a technical drawing and a little bit of writing

Tuesday - ditto of Monday but i made Carvan bread

Wednesday - photoshoot day.

I arrived on campus and discovered that the photography students were there but they weren't booked in for fashion photography because it was actually next Wednesday that was the photo day.

however, another student from second year also came a week early and the lecturer said they would be happy to photograph us if we brought our own models(we both planned to model for ourselves)

we grabbed lunch and I tried on her jacket too. It was surprisingly comfortable and fit well; she asked me to model it for the pictures and I said sure.

the photoshoot was about an hour the jacket photos were fun and the ones of my dress were exclusively of me spinning around in it to showcase the flowy skirt. while changing I had an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction but no one saw anything.

Thursday - dress review day.

I wanted to end it all because my seams were finished in a manner that created "unnecessary labor". Like bro, I intentionally labored for them to look like that because I liked the finish I didn't wanna finish them like a H&M dress.

its whatever, I will cope and move on. I liked my dress and will be wearing it.

I did a little bit of sewing on my second toile to make it wearable for Jess then went home to cry.

Friday - grinding my last two assignment

the weekend!

I went on an amazing picnic with junkler and we brought matching wizard robes. I submitted my assignments then on the following Monday I handed in my physical fashion illustration portfolio.
