Summary:

After Zack takes Aerith to his middle-of-nowhere hometown, he plans to take her out for a fun & romantic time, but unfortunately things don’t go according to plan…

Aerith leaned her elbows along the window sill on the passenger side of an old pickup truck as the wind whipped her loose bangs up into the air and across her face. She was happily gazing out at the bright, blue sky and the lush greenery of the untouched jungle just southwest of Gongaga Village.

Aerith sat back normally in her seat and smiled over at Zack as he continued to drive with one hand on the steering wheel while his left elbow rested along the window sill. Zack had a constant smile on his face and every now and then he’d hum quietly to whatever tune was in his head. It was hard for Aerith to decide whether she wanted to keep looking out straight at the scenery in front of her or at Zack—both were breathtaking sights.

“How much farther do we need to go?” Aerith asked.

“Just a few miles,” Zack answered as he grinned at her. “Almost there!”

Aerith smiled and then looked out ahead of her, but something didn’t look quite right. “Hey, Zack… is the truck supposed to let out steam like that?”
