milky way sophont voices

pollensnouts - kinda a hollow rattling like sound with a lot of lisp because of their front tooth

wyverns - a lot of airy quality to it and whistling, it kinda reminds people of what a snake would sound like if it talked if that makes sense

cycabs - lack vocal cords, they can rattle their throat by pushing air out and create voice boxes to have better control of the air they push out, their voices sound robotic and monotone, will mostly use artificial means to communicate like apps, translators, body language etc

pav - sound very human, with more bass and omph in their voice because of their larger lungs and longer vocal cords, can produce some sounds that we cannot recreate

peslabi - there's a lot of growl and gurgling like sounds in their speech, a lot of them have a distinct inflection in their voice but their voices are pretty high so it's kinda jarring for humans to hear

cilifurian - very nasally and high pitched it's hard to understand them sometimes, their noses are often stuffed and they sneeze often so there's a lot of abrupt pauses in their speech, they mostly depend on sign language as that's their main source of communication on their homeplanet

humans - well we already knows what humans sound like right? but for the present time in nací, which is in the future, there's a distinct accent that humans pick up when they leave earth and start living in space stations, it's too vague to pinpoint what it exactly if but it's distinct enough you can tell the difference as a person, it's mostly like a mixture of the various voices of other species as humans try to fit in, with inflection on letters that might be harder to hear for other species, for example s, t, f, and h are commonly stressed apon vocally to be clear to pollensnouts who hear less than humans, their speech is also a bit slower than were used to, which back on earth speech has gotten faster in contrast

when musamekk are born they have the same mental capacity as a 12yo human so this isn't saying much

normally a musamekk would have at least 30-50 ephyna but obviously their musamekk parent isn't really traditional if they are attracted to humans

it's not uncommon but humans are visually pretty boring in terms of aliens

not biological child, several musamekk cultures have a less personal approach to children so orphans or "stranded" ephyna are common

so if you see a ephyna wandering around in a village not really close to any of the adults you can just. take them with you and adopt them (this is kinda exaggerated it's more complicated than that but it's less of a hassle than adoption would be for other species because they wouldn't technically have any legal guardians or birth parents)

now that doesn't mean they're abandoned they probably are taken care of by the whole community but

they kinda just let them free range

ephyna are very sensitive to atmospheric changes and can easily die from shock if moved to a different atmosphere (they're also very sensitive to gravity) they overcome this as they mature but very young ephyna must be contained within a regulated atmosphere chamber when they're offworld (you'd think they would avoid this entirely but musamekks are big on new experiences and think it's important for their offspring to experience them too)

normally these are very big chambers usually built into their parent musamekks host or stationary chambers built into musamekk ships, but very few can be found in smaller chambers usually used by ephyna who are adopted by other species who are more comfortable with only taking care of one or a few children at a time

jaaleb, diplomatic musamekk who brings along jaaleb's ephyna everywhere jaaleb goes

all musamekks are basically just clones of one eve musamekk but, because of how much they bioengineer their own bodies they basically hardcoded randomized genes into their genome, on top of this they will also greatly change their bodies with intense body modifications + their hosts (their suits) are unique to every musamekk (except for the cultures that practice uniformity)

because of this musamekk are great at adapting to new environments, cultures, and experiences

sibling relationships is a learned behaviour because they are all technically the same person but just remixed

familiar relations are mostly common in musamekks who hang around humans a lot, since family is more important to them than other species

The Fyrin are attacking!!

Jokes aside; the commander is visiting an education center for young Fyrin on a station. It’s basically like a kindergarten but for… well, Fyrin. It just so happened that they found great interest in her uniform when she sat down, bringing them some stuff to play with. Maybe it was the shininess, maybe the familiar smell of another Fyrin (crew member of hers). Some steal her warmth. Some others her heart.

if you’re up for it, what do your sophonts (I hope I’m spelling that right I’m so tired) find most disturbing about humanity and/or their appearance/looks?

Attitudes may vary, some xenos don't get what the big deal is about their fellows being creeped out by us (kind of like how some humans are with bugs, birds, or reptiles). The General view, though, is that humans are the weirdest looking 'naturally occurring' sophonts (so, excluding muttreazik lol)

Here's some specifics, I'm mostly doing looks because idk:

To sundyne, however, humans don't look scary (in fact, humans are very easily prey animal size). We're just kinda gross because of our oily skin, weird leg layout, and lack of appealing bright colors/contrast.

Cerest: Second only to the uncanny nightmare that is a muttreazik born from their species, there is nothing more unnerving to the Drecu than a human. The thing that makes us creepy is how we look somewhat similar to them (obligate bipeds, arms shorter than legs, kinda flat faces with similar layouts, similar eyes, and our hair has similar placements!) Some of our voices even sound similar to theirs. This relative closeness triggers the in-group/out-group pattern recognition part of their brains, and since we don't match up entirely to the in-group (a drecu) we give off a vaguely threatening "imposter" vibe. It doesn't help that humans are usually bigger and heavier than the average dorest, we could easily get close and use our big arms to restrain and strangle them or break their neck, which unsettles rox by extention.

Kixeli: to them, humans also look a bit like Kixeli that have been stretched and smashed into a different shape (giving an uncanny vibe to some, but to others this is a benefit that makes us more appealing as friends). However, the thing that is mostly cited as creepy is our relative "independence". A lot of humans live alone on purpose and dont constantly seek out a lot of human contact, a concept that is frightening to the average kixeli.

Rossetians: the thing that most rossetians say is creepy is the human body plan and our eyes. humans are pretty big relative to them, have powerful grip strength and arms, and can climb. This gives us a resemblance to some long-legged arboreal predators from the rossetian homeworld (aka its easy to imagine us jumping on their back/forebody to force them to the ground, straddling them with our legs, grabbing their horn, and then smashing their head on the ground a few times. Yikes). As for the eye thing, human eyes are shockingly rossetian-like (down to the amount of visible white sclera), but theyre on a many-toothed hairy bipedal weirdo. Very unnerving.

Prectikar: Many prectikar think that humans look sick and malnourished (having relatively sparse fur and small gangly limbs). In addition, we can run for long periods without stopping, live for a very long time, and we can also mimic some of their sounds pretty well, which overall calls to mind different creepy creatures from their folklore. They don't really see us as "scary", but they're sometimes morbidly surprised or fascinated by our ability to survive grievous injuries despite looking so feeble.

I wanted to have in my alien roster a 4-armed species, started sketching designs and I loved this one. When I realized it barely qualified as a 4-armed design I was in too deep.

Ee'ket, the matriarch of Twukiio, a vast jungle faction allied with Iot. She is the youngest matriarch to rule and carries a rare genetic mutation where she lacks any of her markings, leaving only her frill with color. A rare and attractive trait as it left an individual with many colorful options to add to their body. Despite her most sought after beauty, Ee'ket avoided suitors and never provided heirs. She developed a phobia of egg-laying after her mother had passed from being egg-bound. She would often try to distract this issue with lavish parties, which slowly brought disdain and impatience from the citizens of Twukiio, and her immediate family (her grandmother)
