Do you Emcee, DJ, or enjoy Hip- Hop in general? Check out the info below!
This is an FSU student organization dedicated to spreading the ideology and culture that is Hip-Hop. The purpose of this organization is to uphold and promote, simply put, Hip-Hop. We are a group of Bboys, Emcees, DJs, Graffiti Artists, and just plain Hip-Hop Enthusiasts, who wish to educate the masses on what Hip-Hop really is and how it began. Being that we are a Florida State University organization, we provide and educate the student community with a chance to attain the true essence of Hip-Hop.

ABOUT
My name is Nick Kumar and I am the creator of the Tumblr blog, CollegiateRappersdotcom. Ever since I was a little kid I have been an avid listener of hip- hop music, and since then, produced numerous raps purely for the art of it. So, it is safe to say that music has and will always be a part of my life. I created this blog because I think, scratch that, because I know untapped potential lingers in and around college towns. CollegiateRappersdotcom (Tallahassee branch) is here to appreciate and expose dope local/ independent hip- hop artists, because lets be honest, most rappers these days are wack and mumble way to much for my taste. Lets bring the art back into hip- hop.

CollegiateRappersdotcom Presents Artist of the Month Award to PAX!
My Interview with long time friend and collaborator.
ME: When (age) did you begin to record/ produce? How did you get into producing beats ? Why are you creating music ? PAXTON: I started making music around 16 or 17. I had a lot of people in my family that were musicians my dad was always into guitar and metal and shit and my grandpa was a pretty serious jazz musician. I just never had any manual dexterity or talent with instruments. I've always been into all music but hip hop especially I connected with on a deeper level ever since I was a little kid. I was always freestyling and writing little raps when I was young, so when I was in high school I started experimenting with different DAW programs that I could torrent or crack to make beats for my raps. I decided or just realized  at some point that I was not gonna try to be a rapper, it was too much work, so I just kept making beats instead. It wasn't until Rowland Evans (shoutout to Rowly) a DJ and good friend of mine turned me on to Ableton that I started to get serious and really experiment with music from making electronic bullshit at first to really perfecting a style of hip hop beatmaking I was confident in and proud of enough to share it with people.
ME: Who is you're inspiration when it comes to you're personal creative process ? PAXTON: I think the best part about hip hop on the most basic musical level is the fact that it draws on all other genres to create something new and complex. I find inspiration in all music. For real, I've sampled everything from dollar bin records to Black Flag to Grace Slick to Sun Ra and Jaco Pastorius. My production influences are just as varied because I like to incorporate so many different styles into my beats. Of course DJ Premier and J Dilla should be recognized first, DJ Screw, DJ Rashad, Tyler the Creator and everything he did with Odd Future was big for me when I was finding my sound. Flying Lotus has always been a huge influence and I can't forget the real pioneers of southern beatmaking Organized Noise, Mannie Fresh, DJ Paul, Zaytoven and Lex Luger.
ME: What are your intentions with what you are creating ? PAXTON: I tend to draw on all the shit around me to create my music and I guess my real artistic intention in making the music I do is just to pay homage to those that came before me and to give others a good platform to verbally express their own creativity, and tell people what their life is like. That's why I love making beats. If I can make an instrumental that somebody can listen to and think 'yeah that's exactly what I'm feeling, that's what I'm trying to say' expressed in sound, then I feel satisfied with the work I put into it.
ME: Why do you think local/ independent artists such as yourself are important for the musical community/ and or music industry in general? PAXTON: I think it's really important to work with local artists and make connections within your city. The way shit is now, you can send beats to some dude in Arizona and he can send it to a rapper in New York to record over it and throw it on the internet all in a couple hours. While that can still come out I good, don't get me wrong, I feel like real good music comes out of a pure artistic collaborative effort that you can only get from hanging out with someone in the studio, smoking a blunt, having a beer and talking about shit.
ME: Are you working on any new projects? PAXTON: Right now I'm doing a lot of work with young, local Tallahassee rappers ( big shoutout to On Scene Tyge and the whole On Scene team! ) because they come from a real interesting place and have an interesting perspective that a lot of people haven't heard yet. In my opinion everybody has shit they're trying to say and what I'm trying to do out here is find them and give them a platform to say it. Sometimes people might not have the same vision artistically or might not necessarily fuck with a certain style, but what I've learned is that everybody's got something they're into, and if I work hard enough on my craft I can make a beat for anybody.
Right now I'm working with as many people I can to keep building up the name, keep making good music, and keep the money flowing around.  Be looking out for more collaborations with my boy On Scene Tyge, Mango Brown, Kyy Adams, Lord Madley up in Bloomington, and your own Kumie Kume.
Also big up to all my people from back home in Orlando, YUNG GRAPE, my sister Day In // Day Out and the whole Gallery Space Called Home collective, Lang Talent Management, On Scene Tallahassee, Manni Mania, Patrick Holmes aka P.A., everybody in Tallahassee from FSU to South City, and anybody anywhere fucking with my music! I appreciate it more than y'all will ever know.

"A beast on the beats and smooth with the flow."
PAX is beast on the beats! He introduces a new style to the game by incorporating most genres of music that usually are the opposite of the typical rap sound; And when he is not cooking up beats in the studio, PAX is recording in the studio with his unique flow and delivery that almost makes you wonder if he could of been apart of the well- known Californian collaborative rap group, ODD FUTURE.

Check out Kume's music video, Doppleganger!
He created, wrote, produced and starred in this dark, twisted music video hybrid film that will make you ask yourself, "What the hell did I just watch?"

Soundcloud Audio Link to Kume- Deathly Hallows
Kume collaborated with Californian producer, Lund, on this track. This song here is a personal favorite of mine. If you enjoy transy- spoken word rap that discusses how the simple things in life are all we need, while intertwining Harry Potter references into the mix, then I would give this one a try.

This is one of the first Kume songs I ever listened too. His catchy hook and lyrical content behind this track is intriguing to say the least.

"Lost my logic pro x and clearly my sense of mind. I recorded this junk over audacity; and I'm slowly finding my sound. I don't rap for anyone or anything. I just rap for the art of it."

Kume's alter ego 'Kumie'
He has only posted two tracks to this Soundcloud account, but let me tell you, they go hard. Kume takes a step back from the alternative style of hip- hop, and leans more towards a Soflo/ Miami underground rap style. His choice of beats, Yung Simmie type flow, and overall sound makes this Soundcloud account worth listening too.

Paying homage to J.R. Swinga’s original 90's hit “Chocolate City” music video directed by Will Packer and Rob Hardy, also shot on the set of Florida A&M University, Cap 6 delivers a modern installment to this kick back HBCU anthem. Florida A&M University is the environment that helped shape and support Cap 6 as a group and their music, so it is fitting that their Chocolate City music video also pays respect to the stomping grounds that has bred plenty of talent before them. The 5 member Hip-Hop Collective released Chocolate City as a part of their Summer Jelly 2: Harvest Season mixtape back in 2015, however the long awaited visual for the track is finally here. With its old school vibe, HBCU pride and pro-black message, the video instantly connects with HBCU students and Alumni, especially those who’ve attended FAMU. Directed by: David Mattox Creative Director: Alien Astronauts Edited by: Matt Mooney Song Order: Crimson, Hakeem Furious, Donny Blot, Intricate, Rob Ohtis
