basically it's a canon divergence au in which 1-2 years after their meeting sqh accidentally speaks about lbh and calls him his son & mbj hears it and takes it literally and freaks out so he decides "i want this man so bad i'll do anything so it's OUR son now". and also mourns like "i was literally right here why he chose some rando to have a kid with 🧍‍♂️ what did they have that i don't"

Svsss Modern au snippets (all lqg because I was thinking about him again)

1 repressed horse girl always wanted to ride horses, but growing up in the city kinda limits horse riding abilities.

2 his parents threw him at fencing and any martial art he wanted. Now he teaches martial arts to kids. He also does work as a personal trainer from time to time.

3 he owns this shirt. It was a gift from Iiu Mingyan

He wears at home only. It sends sy into hysterics the first time he sees it.

4 whenever he went to the library as a kid the horse section was empty. He was reading them all

5 once his ancient brick phone died, and he was forced to get a new one he got incredibly into umamuseme. Sy mentioned offhandedly one time and horses were mentioned so it peaked his interest.

6 his favorite uma is rice shower. She reminds of lmy when she was younger. Goes to conventions with sy and sqh if only to get little charms of her

7 he’s so mad that shen yuan’s stupid bf lbh actually is really got at cooking, and specifically learned lqgs safe foods to lure him to spend more time with them. Sy and lqg are denser than bricks and haven’t noticed lbh is doing on purpose. (they do end up as bingliushen)

Imagine, if you will, that you are ZZL. After years of efforts you have found what might be ghe solution to saving your uncle: the Sun and Dew Mushroom 🍄 the only problem is that in your weakened form, the stupid things are perfectly out of your reach. But tou try every day no matter how it hurts! Because you love your stupid uncle and want him to be freed!

You have been living in this smelly cave for months. One day, while laying on a rock and trying to heal your wounds from trying yet again to get just ONE sprout, there is this big flash of light. Where the biggest, fattest mushroom had once been is now a human?? And whatever was left is crushed under him. No more mushroom :(

The guy is super pretty and seems very confused (and also he is naked). When he gets his bearings some, he staggers into the water and half drowns because of his wobbling newborn deer legs. You are pretty angry this avenue has been cut off after all this work, but maybe you can use this guy to your own advantage. He is clearly some type of spirit, so if you ate him, would it improve your cultivation enough to assume your human form again?

So you reluctantly rescue him.

He is shocked and confused and a little horrified, but when he sees that you aren't eating him (yet) he just seems fascinated by you instead. He plays with your hair and pokes the ugly places where skin and scale meet and babbles about how interesting you are. Never once does he bring up how ugly you are. Spiritual energy is practically radiating off his skin and he smiles at you SO sweetly it makes you feel dizzy.

You realize quickly that he seems to be some sort of seer. While he speaks to you, he does not seem to realize you are as sentient as you are. He thinks you some strange spirit beast; foolish, if not for the fondness he holds when he says it. The spirit is trying to prevent a calamity, though it seems lost on how. It is searching for someone, though you do not know who; the spirit only speaks in the rare snippets about this prophecy in a lowered voice as if speaking to another. It is strange.

The spirit is uncomfortable in its nudity so you steal clothes for him. You catch him small prey when he hungers and the means to build a flame (even if you cannot draw close when it burns). You slowly learn more and more things about the spirit as you tend to him. His name is Shen Yuan. He does not know where he is. He certainly does not know who you are. His control over his naturally abundant qi is flimsy but could prove... useful.

You decide not to eat him. Instead you guide him through the hidden tunnels you carved out and take him to your uncle. When he sees him, the spirit gasps and flees to his side, concern written on his face. The spirits kindness will be his undoing unless he has someone (you) to keep an eye on him.

Uncle can not speak, too damaged by the mountain. He only stares with a dull curiosity. The arrays here are clever- they absorb the immense demonic power and use the surrounding stone to naturally change it into qi that humans can use. No amount of demonic could ever hope to break this, from the inside or outside. Yet, in their foolishness, they left a weakness: this Array can be overpowered by spiritual qi quite easily if you know where to press.

Since neither of you nor your uncle can speak, it is hard to get the spirit to understand what you want. Yet, with much patience, he finally understands: with clumsy use, he is able to weaken the arrays enough that they can be fully broken.

The three of you flee before Hau Huan can show up. You can not properly defend yourself in this form, uncle is too weak, and the spirit too softhearted. So you run and you manage to hide before you can risk being captured.

The spirit is flustered and upset but tends to your uncle the best he can. He is not a good healer, but his fussing does help as rot and flesh slowly knit back together over the course of days. When uncle can speak again, he introduces himself- and there is a flicker of recognition that is poorly hidden. Uncle says nothing but only gives you a careful look behind the spirit's back.

He waits to restore your more powerful form. When the spirit is asleep, so the two of you can speak in hushed tones. You tell your uncle of your exploits to free him over these years. Most importantly, you tell of Shen Yuan, his true form as a mushroom, and his knowledge of the future. For him to recognize Tianlang-Jun, then he must be involved somehow.

But that can wait. It has been seven years and the demon realm is falling apart without it's Emperor. The humans needs to pay for the crimes they have committed. Perhaps, if the two of you are so lucky, you can slit the throat of the whore who led you here to start...

Shen Yuan is surprised by your humanoid form that next morning. He seems embarrassed for treating you as little more than a beast all this time. He is also ashamed of how you once saw his nudity, and he flushes a pleasing pink high on his cheeks when uncle teases him about it.

With uncle able to move, the three of you set out for the demon realm. With your full powers, calling your snake kin makes the task easier, though the Cultivators have learned of your uncle's breakout from their prison. It takes much effort for you all to pass over thw Borderlands.

Taking over lost territory will be difficult due to the length of time it will take. The lands have fractured badly in uncle's absence, pockets of power rising up to try and stake their own claim. Demons have always been ruled by might, so strength will cause no problems: it is simply the scope of the project.

Shen Yuan, surprisingly, provides valuable assistance. His knowledge is strange and fragmented, though he is able to loosely point in the directions of valuable artifacts and weapons. While the full demon realm is not under heel, retaking the Southern Palace is a far shorter endeavor than it should have been.

It is only when things have stabalized by this small margin that you and uncle stay to plan for revenge. The first would be to find that damned woman who betrayed uncle so-

"You can't, she's dead." The spirit speaks absently but with confidence, as it sometimes did of things it should not know. All goes quiet as the three of you realize what was spoken. The spirit panics, tries to backtrack, but...

Shen Yuan eventually relents when you admit that you know he sees the future. He seems confused by you knowing he is a seer, but with great reluctance he tells you of his prophecy: a half heavenly demon will face great suffering and abuse in his youth until he discovers his true heritage. Then, he will rise up as Emperor of all realms, with much bloodshed under his belt. This man will never find happiness, only a harem of bodies and madness until he merges the three Realms and kill many. Demon, human, spirit- all will suffer under his hand. This is what Shen Yuan had been sent here to prevent.

His name? Luo Binghe.

This gives both you and uncle pause.

A Cultivator at Su Xiyan's level would be able to rid herself of child with her own qi. It would even be more difficult for her to bring a child to term than for a mortal woman, since her own Golden Core would always risk scorching the babe out of her womb lest she keep perfect control. Why keep the child to abuse it? How did Shen Yaun know she was dead? Did he know what happened to her?

Shen Yuan can not answer that last question, as he knows very little about Luo Binghe's birth mother, not even her name. But he knows the start of Luo Binghe's story: on the coldest night of the year, a human woman gave birth on the edge of the Luo river. With the last of her strength, she swaddled her baby and pushed him adrift in a small basket to later be found by the fisherman who named him. The woman who birthed him died that night and he was to be raised by a poor washerwoman.

Many questions arise from this small drop of information.

Did Su Xiyan not betray Tianlang-jun? What happened to her to die in such a strange place? Where was Luo Binghe now? Who was at fault for this tragedy?

The first thing they resolve to do is to find Luo Binghe and return him to his father. The second is to coax the foolish spirit into finally accepting your suit for his hand.

Dual Cultivation or Die/Date by @acernor

I've been thinking for a while now how funny it would be to make the blue book Lan Wangji explodes in MDZS, and I finally landed on a suitable candidate (ifkyk) for fanbinding: acernor's Dual Cultivation duology. Even better, the fic is a BingLiuShen story for Scum Villain's Self Saving System!

This bind, as are the books in the donghua and cdrama, are a traditional Chinese four-hole stab bind with a blue (cardstock) cover and back.

Really amused myself with this bind and I hope the idea entertains others, too.
