The fun thing about writing body horror is that sometimes you get a good vibe from a doctor so you go ahead and tell them "yeah, i write grotesque body horror" and they get super excited about it. You'll be in a surgical consult with a doctor who, after asking if you were squeamish, you told what you wrote about, and he'll be like "then the next step is we de-epithelialize this region-" and you're like "wait, what was that word?" and he's like "oh, don't worry, it's not important, it just means-" and you're like "no, no, i need to know that word, i can totally use that in a story" and he's like "oh... oh my god that's amazing, yes, it's 'de-epithelialization', d-e-e-p-i..." and then he tells you you're a freak and he loves that and you both have a good laugh.
based on a true story lol.
