December 17th - a rescue plan
Some good news, I’ve been talking to two developers now and got them working together, we just had a meeting with the guys behind an existing large (millions of users) site similar to Tumblr, with a vibrant and open-minded community, and more importantly, it has open-minded owners who believe in free speech. They think we can get something done here to rescue the whole community.
I’m not allowed to reveal the site name yet. I can tell you it’s mainstream, open to everyone, open-minded and welcoming. (It’s not WordPress or any site owned by Facebook or Twitter. It’s not Pillowfort, that’s in closed beta. It’s not Ello, that’s mainly for artists. It’s not kinkspace or fetlife, those are too specialist. It’s not jux, that seems to be closed. It’s not Soup, that seems still in development and too small.)
One of the reasons for delaying the announcement for next few days is they don’t want a “land grab” where people take the names of current popular Tumblr users over there (cyber squatting). So they are looking at ways for existing Tumblr users to keep the same names on the new site.
More info over the days to come.
The plan is, broadly:
1. By December 9th, announcement of the new site and how to secure your username there
2. By December 10th, an online tool for bloggers to copy their existing content to the new site automatically, with the same tags and captions.
3. Bloggers will need to copy their content across between December 10th and December 17th if they want to use the automatic tool.
4. My understanding is that after December 17th there will be no public access to any “flagged” posts on Tumblr, but the original poster will still be able to see the flagged post (for a short time at least). Therefore, the original poster may still be able to manually download a post to their own PC or phone, after December 17th, and manually upload it to the other site. But if you have lots of posts that will take a long time, it will be better to use the automatic tool before December 17th.
Please understand that these dates are approximate and may change for technical or other reasons.
There may be a few rough edges or not so perfect looking site design on the transfer tool. Everyone is doing their best. The main goal here is to help as many people as possible preserve access to their content, in the short space of time Tumblr has allowed us, and preserve as much as possible of the Tumblr community spirit somewhere new.
The new site will cater for photo, GIF, text and html posts. It will not offer video and audio posts, due to cost reasons - maybe in future, but for now you will need to preserve video and audio content yourself in some other place.
If your Tumblr blog has a mixture of original content and reblogs, or all reblogs, all of that can be copied over to the new site. Reblogs will become “your” original content if nobody else posted them yet, otherwise they will be shown as reblogs. The devs are looking at ways to preserve attribution of reblogs back to the original Tumblr poster, if that person also moves to the new site.
Important: your Likes cannot be copied from Tumblr to the new site. You will have to go find the same posts again on the new site, and like them afresh.
(Similarly, existing reblog comments, asks, messages and other user interaction on Tumblr cannot be copied to the new site - that’s just too much to do, in the short time available.)
If you want to preserve any of your existing Liked posts on Tumblr, you will need to either: (1) download the post to your own PC, or: (2A) reblog it now to your own Tumblr blog, and then (2B) use the automatic tool, before December 17th, to move your whole Tumblr blog across to the new site.
If you have Liked a lot of posts here on Tumblr, the gridllr.com webapp should be able to help you do steps 1 and 2A quickly, I mean download or reblog.
(Someone complained to me today about the appearance of Gridllr on a phone. It’s best to use Gridllr on a PC, Mac or Tablet with a large screen.)
If you have liked a post here on Tumblr and the original poster decides to delete it, or even to delete their entire blog, some time before December 17th, then that post will be permanently lost. So if you want to be sure to preserve any of your Liked posts, you should best download or reblog as soon as possible. If it’s reblogged to your own blog it is safe from deletion, at least for next few days.
Obviously, you will lose access, after December 17th, to all past posts you have liked, if Tumblr has flagged them as NSFW. Again, the steps (1), or (2A) and (2B) covered above will be the only way to hold on to these posts.

Two projects that I’m working on. The left is a large forerunner structure piece from Halo Wars. Its a large piece since its about as wide as a warthog. I’m making some minor changes here and there for version 1. Its some work to go but hoping to use it as a set building piece. I will also make the angled corner piece once I’ve gotten a the straight model done. I’ll make the angled corner look better than what is shown in Halo Wars.
Since Nvida isn’t crashing like made when I open my modeling program, I can finally get back to making some of the halo wars buildings and props.
Also making the Halo Reach ONI Security box, a few versions of Halsey’s journal (one open and one closed), might make a model of the spartan patch, and a basic key card model. The issue with all these is textures and UV mapping which haven’t a clue how to make my own UV maps/normals and not to great with making my own textures. .

I attempted to make a 3d model of a Moa burger that we only saw a 2d image of an ad in Halo Reach. But its hard to make anything organic in an engineering modeling program so I made this cup and lid. World Cuisine is the fast food joints you saw across New Alexandria. I might try again with the burger or make stuff like to-go boxes, bowls, plastic silverware, and whatever else. If you have a better logo for World Cuisine from Halo Reach please share. I want to have something better than just bland name logo.
Bottom pic is an idea of a logo for World Cuisine or something for the Moa Burger. Will have to make the logo more simple so it could be a press or inject mold base logo.

So I’ve been playing Conan Exiles of late and its fun. Strangely enough it has potential for DND isk campaigns viva its admin tools and some mods. So I decided I’ll make a few models like a Set Necklace. I’ll do one for each of the gods when I have a chance to. Top pick is just a rough outline sketch for reference since I’m going to change a few things. Still have to finish the set one, but this is more of a still alive and Happy Halloween post. Or this year’s case for me, Holoween

Seems they allowed Dave Filoni to finish Clone Wars with confirmed to be 12 episodes. 4 episodes arch Bad Batch (from Canceled Season 7) and 4 episodes arch Siege of Mandalore (from Canceled Season 8 and is/was going to be the end of the Clone wars series). From speculation the other four episodes will be the Crystal Crisis on Utapau.
I admit this is probably the most exciting thing for Star Wars for a while but its on the Disney web app. The crossed out ones are Son of Dathomir and Dark Disciple since we were trying to figure out which is the other four episode arch they would be doing.

I’m looking over concept art from halo and making models from them with my edits to try to add more detail.

A WIP I’m almost done with, but I’m not doing an exact for most of them. I’m also working on a forerunner sentinel spawner from halo wars and another grenade launcher concept design from halo reach. I’m mostly working on objects/structures first. Might do damage structures, vehicles, and weapons.
I’m thinking about trying to recreate the structures from the believe ad, halo wars, and concept art/fan art. Not sure on the textures though, probably look around for someone to do it.

Tessellation in SFM
A little problem with Valve that they didn’t make normal documentary every element in SFM, for example, flexes and today we are going to talk about tessellation. You can’t find any information about it (only on Valve Wiki) and you will hear my information about it.
What is tessellation?
Tessellation is used to manage datasets of polygons and divide them in real-time rendering using a subdivision method. Goal is make smoother model. Example on the picture from Wikipedia.
Current feature works on DirectX11 and OpenGL 4. If this option is available in any game, you can turn on and you won’t see any vertices or low-poly models. Last time this feature available in games, but not always.
Work with tessellation
We all know that SFM works on old Source engine with DirectX9 + 32-bit, but you can find out that tessellation works here. If you tired to smooth edges in Photoshop, you can use tessellation, but it won’t work on any model. Maybe will work on objects, but you need to test with character. What about plus and minus from feature?
+ Control level of tessellation with command mat_tessellationlevel <1-16> + Model will receive good lightning and will use a subdivision method - More level of tessellation, more load on GPU - Can crash your SFM because DirectX9 and 32-bit exe - Can be problems with compilling model with $subd - Studiomdl will crash if model will have any triangles. $subd work only with quads.
Examples:
Adding tessellation to your model
If you have your own model, which you modeled, first make sure that there is no triangles on the model. If you have it, try to convert them to quads. You will need addon which you can import and export smd/dmx format. For example, I use Blender Source Tools for Blender. Be sure to export model in dmx format, because smd convert to triangles by default, but dmx can export in polygons and triangles. After that make QC file and write what you need. You can find information how to compile and decompile models. Just google it.
In QC you will need to put $subd before model name. $subd will turn on tessellation on the model.
If you receive errors or crash in compiler, that mean you have triangles on the model or something else.
Adding tessellation to the model from Internet
I was trying to put tessellation on some models, but problem was a lot of triangles on the polygon, which can’t convert to quads. Only way is make retopoligy. I know - this will be long time to do that, but it’s only way. After retopoligy you will receive model with quads, but you will need to add flexes, bones, etc. Most of problems on the characters, so less problems will be with props.
Conclusion
Few people know these features because of Valve’s attitude and can’t find good documentary. This element need to add everywhere and characters or objects will be more smoother and poster will be beautifull.
P.S. - I really like that @aeridiccorensfw is trying to put this feature on his model and he made new monthly update post, where he wrote some problems with tessellation.

Odd finding this abandon CNC project. I thought I deleted it or well it was erased due to two harddrive crashes. Was going to CNC cut some plexiglass. The idea was so you can shine a light at an angle so the bird appeared holographic. The issue was I came up with a better idea, which the majority of files for that finished project doesn’t exist except for one file that I used to create a prototype jewelry for non-production/or sale. I’m pretty sure I posted it and deleted it here. Anyways I do remember the birds name, but this bird has joined the faceless men so this bird has no name now.

Plans
Well I’m finally free of university, now I have the chain of debt around my neck and the hunt for a job. I’m not worried about that really, since my piece of paper has some worth. Either way I have some plans.
I want make a animated series of halo using UE4. Since I want to build worlds that will be used over time, change as time goes by, and so on. Something I can’t really do that will with Gmod. I just don’t like blender so that is off the tables. I’m not sure for everything I want to do will work with UE4 but I want to try and get the ball rolling on that. As one of my past post shows I want to do something with Forgeworld but bigger. I have a lot of things to learn with UE4 but I hope I can do Midnight. I plan on doing little shorts with little to no voice acting which will most likely show off things I’ve learned from the program.
I’ll be starting to make 3d printable models since I have time. I’ll post on shapeways. I’ll work on the things that I’ve stated on the past and will be doing commissions once I get a better idea on pricing.
As for the BR Project, just assume dead for now.
I’ve been sketching a bit more of late and posted some sketches here. I don’t think I’ll post too often with that since well I’m a bad at it.
I’m wanting to finish a fan short story in the Senya universe. It was going to be apart of a fan contest but shit came up but I still want to finish it.

A while back I had some time to sketch around some of my star wars OCs
Valo Sero, a Mirialan Seeker/young-ling for the yet to start Twilight of the Republic campaign. A day before Order 66. She likes talking to animals
Baron Pentaghast, a Trandoshan “Diplomat” more of a Agitator or someone that pisses people off so he can add some points for the Scorekeeper. He is from the 1st campaign I did Nar Shaddaa Nights. Early Empire. If he ever comes back to normal space, most likely he will be a villain. Ripping part of a dudes arm off and shoving it down his throat, was something he did for fun. Grant it releasing an ancient evil upon the galaxy wasn’t something he wanted to do but hey he found his connection to the force by doing that. Yes that is a LS-150 Heavy ACP Repeater.
Osewjuntit or Jun for short, a Twilek Performer/owner of a Cantina from Edge of the Empire Corellian Cantia campaign. Late Clone Wars. She’s a performer and a charmer and is no use in combat. I mean point blank range with the element of surprise she can’t shot someone. (them dice rolls). She is paranoid so much that she always wears second skin body armor and made a partnership deal a Selonian (giant space otter with a big mace, attitude, and a gambling addiction.)
I’m not happy how Jun turned out so I’ll redraw her one day to have a mix of Transistor’s Red and Li Ming’s lunar skin. I want a more interesting performer’s attire for Jun than the typical Twi’lek performer drab. Also I really got frustrated and forgot to fix the face up. I was trying to draw Red’s feather top and just couldn’t draw it.
I’ll probably add Weelow the friendly rebel wookie medic, the Dragvuahl mando brothers, BEEPs the Droideka-isk scrap-droid, the Scrapilisk war droid, and Nix the Zygerrian Smuggler. Once I get around to drawing them.
