Yes, umamusume have rights. They’re shown throughout the franchise to be very highly respected by humans, too.
Infrastructure is designed to accommodate them, they have longer phones, lanes on paths, etc etc.
Yes, umamusume have normal jobs too, they don’t all race. We just focus on the racing ones. They can also do normal sports, like basketball. The implication is open ended on if they do other horse sports, but it’s likely.
Umamusume can be born to human couples, or they can have an uma mother.

Doves and Robins are masters of raising chicks in places you would not think a bird could, but in the opposite directions.
Robins are out there engineering a perfectly stable four-bedroom suburban home with an in ground pool on half an inch of exposed drainpipe, and doves will see a pothole in the middle of a busy parking lot and say "this is a good place for eggs :)"
"Are you… going to build a nest in the hole?" ask the robins
"A What?" The dove asks, laying her egg directly into a puddle at the bottom.

for a while now i’ve been learning that some people kind of choose to hate themselves like you can give them tools and resources and advice and they’ll even follow some of it and go “i still hate myself” and i feel strongly at that point they’re kind of choosing to stay in that mindset because it’s comfortable and familiar or something but some people are truly [gotye voice] addicted to a certain kind of sadness and hooked on feeling low

as a person who lost a loved one to addiction, i would rather have them be able to use safely in a sterile environment with safe equipment, where they can 100% know the drug is not laced with something deadly, and live- than them dying because they didn’t know what the drug contained, or because no one was there to make sure they weren’t ODing, or because they used dirty equipment in a dirty environment.
again more simply put, i would rather have my dead loved one continue using drugs in a safe manner and stay alive, than die the way they did because the stigma around substance use is not only dangerous, but lethal.
harm reduction saves lives.
