Killing Eve tumblr stans are the best

i just rewatched killing eve 3.08 again, and i just wanted to talk about something from that scene. you know the one. 

all throughout there’s a very visual foretelling of how it’s going to end. about them standing on the other side to each other but never crossing.

here’s where we first see it, by eve’s hand on the bridge (we’ll come back to the actual bridge itself later):

doesn’t seem like it’s much at first. but her hand is intentionally placed to not cross that gap in the railing. 

a few times we then see this next one, of villanelle and eve standing side by side:

and again, both very purposefully placed and separated visually by the line on the ground.

we also get a different angle from the front:

it’s not as clear here, but by now having picked up on the theme, you can tell neither have yet to cross over this line.

when eve starts to ask villanelle for ‘help’, this is where the visuals become much stronger: 

it’s now a lot more obvious, front and centre of the shot. 

and then we get this angle:

this is probably the strongest visual we get for this whole thing, as even looking through the railings here there’s still this very clear line keeping them separated. 

when eve turns around:

you can see this ‘line’ now represented by the two of them. and during this whole thing, this is the closest they’ve actually come to touching. they’re so close…

until villanelle decides it’s best for them to walk in the opposite direction:

this is the final shot of the episode, and there’s the line that’s been prominent throughout the whole scene, right up until the very end. 

it’s a visual representation of how they’ve changed over the three seasons, how their relationship with each other has grown over this time. they’ve reached the point where they’ve mutually addressed how they feel about the other, and it seems how they’re in the same place. they’re so close, and yet still, they can’t cross that ‘line’. 

remember how i said we’d come back to that bridge? well as a born and bred londoner i instantly recognised the white railings as none other than tower bridge (often mistakenly called london bridge). the other giveaway is the line on the ground itself, it’s where the road parts and rises up:

this location itself adds to this whole visual theme. they could have picked any other bridge in central london (we’ve got plenty of them). but not only are they on tower bridge, they’re right in the centre of it. 

where the two halves of the road meet, but never cross…

iamhalsey: It’s become very clear to me that some of you need to see what I’ve seen. Please swipe through this. These pictures and videos don’t even scratch the surface. It’s easy from the comfort of your home to watch looting and rioting on television and condone the violent measures being taken by forces. But what you don’t see is innocent peaceful protestors being shot at and tear gassed and physically assaulted relentlessly. You think it’s not happening, it’s only the “thugs” and the “riots”, right? The police are keeping you safe right? You’re wrong. This is happening everywhere. And innocent people exercising their rights to speech and assembly are facing violence and abuse of power. With all of our medical professionals being CONSUMED and EXHAUSTED with Covid, there is little to no medical attention available. I have first hand treated men women and children who have been shot in the chest, the face, the back. Some will lose vision some have lost fingers. I have been covered in innocent blood. My father is a black man. My mother is an EMT. This week I had to put those two associations together in ways that have horrified me. This is NOT a virtue signaling post. But I HAVE to show you what I am witnessing with my own eyes. With Trump’s decision today to enforce the mobilization of armed forces on our own citizens, this has escalated beyond your privilege and comfort to not care. Please care. We are begging you to care. This is war on Americans. This is everyone’s problem. Everyone’s. #BLACKLIVESMATTER

and they are perfect. 

Might be an unpopular opinion: I think the bridge scene was infinitely better than a passionate kiss. It was even said in the scene - they aren’t like a normal couple. Their idea of romance is Eve finishing Villanelle’s kill. They aren’t some normal couple that will be completely domestic and show love through hugging and kissing. They show their love in ways unique to only them. The meaning and feeling behind turning around at the end was what would be a kiss for a normal couple. They can’t get away from each other - they need each other. For better or for worse. They can’t just walk away. That scene was so...them. I loved it.

CAROLYN HAS SUCH MOM ENERGY I LOVE IT

Carolyns tired of these bitches, gives em her blessing and Eve still throws a tantrum. Poor woman just can’t win.

“They see each other in a way that no one else sees them. To the rest of the world, Villanelle is nothing but an assassin, and as Carolyn says, if you can’t do that, you’re useless. Eve sees so much more in her than that. And similarly the dark element to Eve that she’s been battling… I think Eve’s been trying to hide that from everyone including herself and her life. And Villanelle sees that in her and totally accepts it. There’s no judgement. Having someone really see you in a way you’ve never felt anyone see you before is very intoxicating and very addictive. So, while logically that this relationship is dangerous, Eve also knows that she cannot run from it anymore. I think that they’re just in each other’s lives going forward. As to what that means for their relationship going forward, who knows? I am as excited as you to see where Laura and the team take it. I think there’s like a wealth of possibilities.

KILLING EVE S4 THEORIES!

OKAY THESE HURT. I WARNED YOU.

1 - we start where we left off on the bridge. Before either of them can move towards each other however, Eve is kidnapped by the 12 and Villanelle watches, in horror, as her soulmate is taken away. Think about it guys. The 12 KNOW that Eve is their only key to getting to Villanelle, their top assassin. Because of Eve, V’s “gotten soft” and so how do they unleash “the monster” that is Villanelle? 

By taking away the only thing she cares about. 

Plus, lets be real, Eve’s been putting herself in suicide missions for three seasons and she’s gotten away, for the most of it, unscathed (not counting V shooting her lmfao). It’s only realistic if she finds herself in deep shit eventually. 

AND SO, Villanelle teams up with MI6 + Carolyn to get Eve back. OR, since Carolyn is still heartbroken over Kenny, maybe BitterPill will help her get Eve back? We’ll see more sides of V this time and she’ll be working against the 12 rather than for them. How cool would that BE. Also, I fully believe Dasha is still alive and she will use Eve to get back at V for trying to kill her ;_;

2 - Villanelle gets taken instead and Eve has to watch, for the nth time, her soulmate leave her life. Helen has made it clear how much she values V’s skills. And now that V’s brutally murdered Rhian, the 12 will be convinced that she’s still got it. She just needs to be pried away from Eve.

Eve tries to coerce Carolyn/MI6 to help her but, as we saw in the finale, Carolyn seems about done. And so she turns to Konstantin, who obviously refuses at first. BUT EVE WILL USE IRINA (his daughter) AS LEVERAGE. Irina might play a bigger role next season because she’s starting to become unhinged and murderous! And dark Eve will do anything to get V back. 

3 - 8 episodes purely consisting of domestic Villaneve being cute and annoying (oh god PLEASE GIVE THIS TO ME)

One of the things I love most about this scene?

I love V’s super duper awkward walk towards the dance floor. Her insecure “I have no idea” and eyes full of wonder because she’s about to do something “normal people do”. Throughout the entire series she’s always mentioned how she wants “someone to watch movies with” and “a normal life”. She just wants to be happy.

DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE WAY THE MUSIC CHANGES WHEN THEY BOTH SHUT THEIR EYES AND MELT INTO ONE ANOTHER.

Eve has had normal her whole life while Villanelle has been searching for it her whole life. They are perfect together.
