buffy in late season 5 goes into a catatonic state when glory takes dawn and then willow magically enters her mind palace and figures out that buffy feels a deep sense of shame for thinking (for a second) that she wants glory to win because at least then it would be over and then the next episode she says to giles "i don't understand. i don't know how to live in this world when these are the choices. when everything just gets stripped away, i don't see the point." like yes, buffy sacrifices herself to save dawn, but she's also suicidal. she's so tired of fighting and she doesn't see the point of living anymore and when she sees an opportunity to finally make it all stop, she takes it.

my post-chosen headcanon is that immediately after dawn says "yeah buffy, what are we going to do now?" buffy faints due to blood loss from her stab wound and they have to rush her (and everyone) to the hospital. that's why she doesn't answer the question.

It makes me sad that the cultural legacy of Baywatch Nights is nothing. Imagine if you will that 911 got a spin off where, idk any of the characters so let’s just say, Buck decided that he wanted to be a private investigator. And he got a whole other show where he was just doing private investigator work some of the time and had new friends that never interacted with his old friends but he’s still on 911 proper full time and every so often they go “haha Buck. You are a private eye now. Watch 911 Nights” and it’s just standard run of the mill detective stuff. And then in season 2 he’s inexplicably fighting monsters. Like, actual literal ghosts and goblins and ghouls and getting sucked into video games and fighting cryofrozen Vikings. No explanations why or how and he has a mysterious government contact that they never explain who shows up to say vague things. But whenever you see him on 911 proper he mentions NONE of this and it never gets brought up by any of the other characters that hey, I guess vampires are real? No. Because they’re too busy stopping a blimp explosion. This happened to Mitch Buchanan.
